Depending on the the origin story she dated Flash and went along with Flash's friends bullying Peter. He had a crush on her before the spider bite but after Ben dies and Peter realizes he was only interested in her for superficial reasons. Outside of that I think he only friendly to her as a common curtsy and to piss off Flash. Liz was always kind of just meant to be an unintentional source of chaos in Peter's life. The attention Liz gives Peter is a reason for Betty and Flash to be mad at Peter and Peter is just to polite to tell her to screw off.
Liz in general is definitely the weakest of the classic love interests, which is why she is often ignored or replaced by MJ or Gwen in adaptations. Spectacular and home coming are really the only adaptations that use her and in both cases she is just a stepping stone to a bigger relationship.
So what did Liz do wrong? She was a shallow, upper class girl who was more concerned with fitting in then thinking for her self. By the time she comes around and figures stuff out Peter was kind of done with the idea of dating the prettiest most popular girl at mid town high.
Then in collage he dates Gwen Stacy who was her high school's Liz Allen which is another reason she can be replaced in adaptations. The coolest things about her is her brother is molten man and her son is almost defiantly gonna grow up to be a supervillain.

I think I've seen a chickadee maybe thrice, if they're that tiny black-headed, yellow-bellied bird.
