Right? Most people agree that Azula was fricked up, so why is Ursa a villain to trying keep her from turning into a sociopathic freak?
Because a good parent wouldn't show obvious favoritism to one child over the other and would actually try to be there for their struggling child, homosexuals.
That favoritism agrument is bullshit anyway. We have one episode with Ursa from Zuko point of view and that's enough to say she preferred him. And how was she not there for her?

She wasn't psycho as a kid her dad made her psycho. It was him who was telling her to do those bad actions and to pick on her brother because he saw Zuko as not his son.
She comported herself in a empathetic, caring, and patient way and strove to give lessons to help foster changes in her kids. It's not like she could do anything as the court prince's consort that the court prince couldn't undo harder.

The reason Ozai chased her out is because he figured it was inevitable that she'd kill him.
this thread reminded me that solo azula comic came out so i read the summary and wow i'm surprised they actually seem to be setting up azula causing her own end because she's unwilling to let go of her anger and desire for vengeance
Clear sociopathic behavior and low empathy aggravated by an absent mother, manipulative and indulgent father, sycophantic attendants, and a social system that insured no one could call her out or rebuke her.
>cover her own ass/frick with her brothe
more like frick her brother
telling Ozai that she had confirmed that avatar is indeed dead in no way covered her ass, unless she had read the script and knew that Zuko is going to defect after learning about holocaust 2 electric boogaloo
but she was too surprised by the mildest version of the most possible reaction to her actions for that to make sense
Technically speaking, she didn't lie. Aang was dead for at least a few minutes. She merely omitted her suspicion that he could be revived, and that omission was tactically sound given that she was able to bring Zuko back into Ozai's good graces.
Really, her only mistake was thinking Zuko wasn't still a colossal traitorous pussy that would turn on them the second the opportunity arose.
>Lawful Evil wouldn't lie
Sure would. Lies, lies of omission, misdirection, obfuscation, all hallmarks of Lawful Evil. are fair play if they comport to the use of soft power. What Azula did was textbook because she could just build on that lie later.
>cover her own ass/frick with her brothe

>telling Ozai that she had confirmed that avatar is indeed dead in no way covered her ass
If nothing else: it covers for her being less than a flawless lightning bender. Remember she failed to kill Iroh with it like 10 episodes beforehand. >unless she had read the script and knew that Zuko is going to defect after learning about holocaust 2 electric boogaloo
Azula knew about the planned invasion during the Day of Black Sun. Granted she learned this in the most contrived way anything was ever set up in the show: but it happened. Azula could easily have been planning to pin that on Zuko, even if the Avatar didn't show.
Technically speaking, she didn't lie. Aang was dead for at least a few minutes. She merely omitted her suspicion that he could be revived, and that omission was tactically sound given that she was able to bring Zuko back into Ozai's good graces.

>thinking Zuko wasn't still a colossal traitorous pussy that would turn on them the second the opportunity arose.
For my money it's pretty clear that was the entire reason she did it. She didn't know about the spirit water, maybe she was worried her aim was off with the lightning. But she probably wanted to hold shit over Zuko. EVEN IF the Avatar WAS dead she could try to use that lie against him later and have the Dai Li back up the real version of events to claim it was her who killed him. >Technically speaking, she didn't lie.
I mean we don't see the scene so maybe she did some Aes Sedai say one thing, implying another shit. But frankly it doesn't seem like Azula. She's the only person that lies well enough to fool Toph. I think it's a safe bet she actually said the lie instead of elegantly cultivating it out of half truths and omissions.
>What was her problem?
The creative team didn't make her a guy, which in 2008 meant she didn't get to have a redemption arc like Zuko did, despite the fact that Zuko had just as much blood on his hands as Azula.

She was a female so her only source of support saw her as a diplomatic tool to marry off or just the "other" child and her Uncle didn't value her like his dead son or adopted son. She resembled Ozai so Ursa couldn't separate her from the rape that conceived her. Anyone else was beneath her and their opinions were discarded.
When you step back you'll see that the GAang and everyone they befriended were either royalty or in places of power, not the common man.
>When you step back you'll see that the GAang and everyone they befriended were either royalty or in places of power, not the common man
As is only right. Democracy is moronic.
She was smart, beautiful, and above all, perfect. Unfortunately when you are amongst lower people you tend to be the outsider. Imagine, if you will, a god living among mortals. The people around won't be able to see or understand the complex ideas and mannerisms of a superior being. Even the people here on this board do not comprehend her so they have to bring her down to their level. However, any cheap imitation they have in their mind pales in comparison to the real thing. It's why she is remembered fondly almost 20 years after her debut. It would benefit humanity as a whole if every woman strove to be like her and adapted her traits. I am proud of my daughterfu and looking forward to the all the sequels and retellings that are coming out in the future.
One of her best qualities is her humility. She puts herself down because she wants to fit in a world she is clearly to good to be apart of. It's what makes her so great.
>One of her best qualities is her humility. She puts herself down because she wants to fit in a world she is clearly to good to be apart of. It's what makes her so great.
Azula solo comic basically has her admit that she hates how she become Ozai's deadly weapon, and how it led to her alienating everyone she cares about.
Like, you do you even read canon, or do you just make shit up.
Look, the comics suck ass and Bryke should have retconed them. But unforuntely, they said they are canon going forward. So we got to accept them and make sure our arguments incoporate them.
I don't have the scan but I am talking about the pages in which she is hugging fake!Ursa.
Also, isn't one of the main points of the comic that Azula's inability to let go her father's teachings, anger, and desire for revenge? So your pic doesn't change what I said earlier.
How she sees herself =/= what she is. The people who supposedly had her back deserted her and no one gave her a fricking chance. She is worse off than Zuko with non of the support.

>If you're not, at least give someone a reason to give a shit.
It's a fun fanfic where Ursa kills Ozai almost immediately after killing Azulon, and then takes over as regent to rule in premature Zuko's stead. Full of fun political intrigue, lots of alternative character development, and a fair amount of bureaucratic skullduggery, if you enjoy that sort of thing.
Because it's an AU. It's one of those fics where it takes the characters you love, puts them in situations you aren't familiar with, and causes their personalities to diverge from canon in believable ways based on the changed circumstances they find themselves in.
Iroh eventually shows up too, fresh off of Lu Ten's death, and it's great when he does.
The only person in her life that pretended to give a shit about her was her cartoonishly evil father.
Why is it that everyone acts like Ursa telling her not be a psycho is not giving a shit about her?
Right? Most people agree that Azula was fricked up, so why is Ursa a villain to trying keep her from turning into a sociopathic freak?

That favoritism agrument is bullshit anyway. We have one episode with Ursa from Zuko point of view and that's enough to say she preferred him. And how was she not there for her?
The only actual scenes we see of Ursa are from Zuko's point of view. Why would we expect to see her interacting one on one with Azula?

Player switched from lawful to chaotic evil too quick
Azula was always Neutral Evil.
She was 100% lawful evil bruh
Lawful Evil wouldn't lie about the vital matter of national security to her sworn lord solely to cover her own ass/frick with her brother.
>cover her own ass/frick with her brothe
more like frick her brother
telling Ozai that she had confirmed that avatar is indeed dead in no way covered her ass, unless she had read the script and knew that Zuko is going to defect after learning about holocaust 2 electric boogaloo
but she was too surprised by the mildest version of the most possible reaction to her actions for that to make sense
She directly told Ozai that it was Zuko who struck down the Avatar, not her. She lied to his face for her own benefit.
>Tecnically speaking
>Lawful Evil wouldn't lie
Sure would. Lies, lies of omission, misdirection, obfuscation, all hallmarks of Lawful Evil. are fair play if they comport to the use of soft power. What Azula did was textbook because she could just build on that lie later.
>telling Ozai that she had confirmed that avatar is indeed dead in no way covered her ass
Azula could easily have been planning to pin that on Zuko, even if the Avatar didn't show.
>thinking Zuko wasn't still a colossal traitorous pussy that would turn on them the second the opportunity arose.
Like Iroh said, she was just born evil.
Iroh just said that because Azula never sucked his wiener like he told her to
What a good message for a kids' show.
It prepares kids for real life.
Disproven by statements from the head write, she's redeemable.
She had to pretend that daddy didn't frick her.
Her sister is better
>Her sister
What a nice character, now zu-zu gets a cute little sister he can love.
Instead of a firebender Kiyi should've been a earthbender but specifically a lavabender.
>why?
Because I think it'd be cool.
Sociopathy.
>What was her problem?
The creative team didn't make her a guy, which in 2008 meant she didn't get to have a redemption arc like Zuko did, despite the fact that Zuko had just as much blood on his hands as Azula.
>The creative team didn't make her a guy, which in 2008 meant she didn't get to have a redemption arc like Zuko did
I don't know what shit you're talking. Bad girls have always gotten redemption
>Bad girls have always gotten redemption
Name 10 characters like Azula who did
Name 10 characters like Azula first
Okay, so none of the examples you had in mind fit.
I'm another person, I just feel "character like Azula" is extremely strict definition.
It's a pretty good limit to be working within if we're talking about characters who did comparably bad things they had to redeem for, no?
In my opinion there is only one element that belongs in the set "character like Azula" and it is Azula.
Okay I will, give me recommendation, please.
I recommend starting with a library card.
You are yet to give an example, with all your aplomb, it feels strange.
That is pretty remiss of me.
So remedy it.
Dammit Jim, I'm an anon, not a doctor.
Nah that's just realism. Women are inherently impossible to redeem.
Remember that time she convinced Zuko to trap that girl in a trunk?
Wish I had a bigger version of this
Source is "The Tale of Azula" from "The Earth Kingdom Chronicles". There is a full scan of it online.
>royal
>beautiful
>can beat adult martial arts master at the age of 5
I'd be mad with ego and power too.
She doesn't have my dick in her tight dicky
damn brat needed correction
needed adult dick
loose feet

Anti Social Personality Disorder
>What was her problem?
Her father raised her to be the perfect conqueror and tyrant, partially because of a prophecy that her grandfather and father believed in, and partially because her older brother a failure in that regard.

No one in their right mind touches that rancid turd.

TTRPG for the most part only summarizing what was already established in the show or in the comics.

Why did Zuko thought it was a good idea to put his two cents in their dialog.
It isn't even relevant, he is just sympathy farming.
>She was smart, beautiful, and above all, perfect.
Dude, not even Azula believes that about herself.
Like, you do you even read canon, or do you just make shit up.
>comics
>being canon
>canon denailist
Look, the comics suck ass and Bryke should have retconed them. But unforuntely, they said they are canon going forward. So we got to accept them and make sure our arguments incoporate them.
>Azula solo comic basically has her admit that she hates how she become Ozai's deadly weapon
Have we read the same comics?
I don't have the scan but I am talking about the pages in which she is hugging fake!Ursa.
Also, isn't one of the main points of the comic that Azula's inability to let go her father's teachings, anger, and desire for revenge? So your pic doesn't change what I said earlier.
How she sees herself =/= what she is. The people who supposedly had her back deserted her and no one gave her a fricking chance. She is worse off than Zuko with non of the support.
Perfect people don't get deserted.
Did you not read what I wrote? She is above everyone. No one can have any sort of friendship with a god of a person
I don't give a frick what you all think of me. The message of Azula's greatness is what matters
>I don't give a frick what you all think of me. The message of Azula's greatness is what matters
Nobody takes it seriously because of you.
You know it's funny you try to bring her down, however, here she is with people waiting to see what will happen next to her and inspiring others. No, Azula has ascended from whatever you perceive and just is. Hell this thread existing is proof of it.
Frick you I'm not him.
>
The hilarious thing is he might actually believe this.
I truly believe this from the bottom of my heart
100% chance of homosexuality.
>She is above everyone. No one can have any sort of friendship with a god of a person
Nah actual godlike men (women can never be this) inspire undying loyalty and love in the people all around them, and relate to normies easily with their natural empathy and goodwill. Everyone close to them loved Caesar or Alexander dearly.
>She was smart, beautiful, and above all, perfect.
Azula was moronic.
>Azula was moronic.
If only there was someonenj like me to guide her.
You're a fricking moron. Azula literally has 0 flaws.
Nah.
She was just a psychopath.
Her undiagnosed astigmatism gave her constant migraines, but Ozai just told her to suck it up, resulting in a foul temper.
REIGN OF THE FIRE LADY DOWAGER IS UPDATING AGAIN
I REPEAT, REIGN OF THE FIRE LADY DOWAGER IS UPDATING AGAIN
If you're the author, go shill your fanfic somewhere else.
If you're not, at least give someone a reason to give a shit.
"Alternative" character development?
Because it's an AU. It's one of those fics where it takes the characters you love, puts them in situations you aren't familiar with, and causes their personalities to diverge from canon in believable ways based on the changed circumstances they find themselves in.
Iroh eventually shows up too, fresh off of Lu Ten's death, and it's great when he does.
Her boobies were too big and it gave her back pain.
Daddy issues.
She could never be honest with her feelings for Ty lee.
