HR is the boss, that's probably the most unrealistic part of the show. Toby could have gotten Mike fired or at least transferred.

Good luck finding a boss that can manage that trainwreck of an office.
Is a shitty office full of shitty people with a shitty boss than somehow they made money and when the crisis happen, it was the best one.

still, the man who runs the office, the alpha dog of the branch was a moronic manchild, doesnt matter if in the company hierarchy he was technically above him
if toby went to corporate against michael he would have to make his case to the people who obviously respect the boss more than some hr guy

Michael's branch was the most successful one. when they found out Meredith was prostituting herself for discounts from suppliers, they ignored it. Michael could have been reported, but someone at corporate was protecting him.

Wallace likes him because he helped the company against jan and probably believe that he wouldn't live without this job

He was a broken man, but even worse he was a weak man. He traded in a monastic life to score some puss only for it to end in divorce. He watched pathetically as Pam moved from one man to another, missing every chance he had to try her for himself. When he finally did make a decision on impulse, showing some fire in his soul, it landed him in hospital, alone, in a foreign country. Yeah, Michael hated him and maybe he could have gotten Michael fired if he really wanted to, but what would that achieve? Toby already lived in the depths of despair, so how would firing Michael improve it? Not worth the effort? Better to just let it wash over him.

I liked when Robert California was talking about how everything is about sex and they panned to skinny, old, frail, balding, weak cuckold husk of a man Toby who manages to whisper a pathetic "y-yes".

Women say I remind them of this guy while lots of men have said I'm the most interesting person they know. Never watched the but he seems like a pathetic loser so it's interesting to note the contrast in how the sexes view me.
