Are Yao Guai particularly dangerous enemies in Fallout? I thought they were supposed to be relatively mid-tier, something to bridge the "wildlife" enemy types between bugs/rodents and deathclaws. In Fallout 4, one of the earlier main quests (following Dogmeat to track down Kellog) tracks you past some Yao Guai.

They're bursty and tanky. So if they get the jump on you they can definitely frick you up. Generally not too bad if you initiate on your terms.
You always seem to run into them when you are either fully kitted out and so they are zero problem at all, or when you have no stimpacks and hardly any ammo left so it turns into a whole ordeal. No in-between.

Most people in Fallout are good people, Tandi and Killian are some of the first people you meet in the series and they're very kind welcoming people. Fallout isn't a hopeless series, it's usually about human will and progress and the post-post apocalyptic setting is really just a Wild West frontier setting with sci fi elements. The games are also heavily about simply talking to people. Yet the show has terrible and very brief dialogue and so far there's very little adventure through the wastes and doesn't capitalize on the setting too well and it feels very doom and gloom about the entire world. I'll say the sets are great but the show has no feel for adventure and the show looks ugly, mostly close up shots instead of anything that offers a sense of atmosphere.
I agree. I'm only on episode 3 and I'm assuming the ghoul killing everyone in the town with godly precision is a V.A.T.S call-back. Fair adaptations of these game mechanics into a tv show
Bethesda Fallout games have very limited dialogue since they have the glory of full voice acting. And since the show takes after Fallout 4 of course the dialogue is horribly brief. Full voice acting and its consequences on RPGs has been a disaster.

It doesn't even last long against most bullets aside from handgun rounds and smaller rifle cartridges. Bigger rounds will rip through it.
