Underused character, to me the whole movie resolved around that very question: what kind of American are you. So I expected a lot from that scene, but in the end it was just a matter of "are you not a foreigner AND from a State that aligned with my thoughts?", boring.

The impression I got from the movie was that a president became dictator and was fought by some state governours. It was a conflict between federal and state elites, the normal people weren't particularly involved in it.

Kill the soldiers and you can always kill the reporters later. The mass murderer who is interrogating you at gunpoint is probably more likely to make killing you a priority.
