This scene made me uncomfortable, I don't know why. It's mostly the sound/music, it's very eerie.

It was a test. The peachtree dance is either something that all the locals knew about that outsiders wouldn't, or it was something he made up and his "brother" pretended to understand.

One Cinemaphile poster said that the peachtree dance wasn't a dance at all, but most likely a local euphemism for date raping a girl. I don't think this interpretation holds any weight, though.

The peachtree dance is where olt timey men would go when they wanted to legally rape women.
This is why boomers are full of shit, it doesn’t matter how hard you had to work if at the end of the week you could go out and do a few rapes.

Reminder that this movie focused on the worst parts of Plainview's life, making him look more miserable than he was.
He spent a good 20 years on nothing but winning once the estate was settled and the bastard was growing up. Fricked any hooker he wanted, ate everything, had a giant house, got really good at bowling, enjoyed the glory days of free America before it got pozzed.
So what if he didnt have a real family. A lot of families end up shit, even if the father has the best intentions.

No it was the 30's, the market crash had all ready happened which was why Eli was coming to Daniel to beg for money in the first place. The stock market crash was on october 29, 1929. Then it had to be the 1930's.

He said he liked to dance with the girls at the Peachtree dance. His brother didn't react. So he figured out that his brother was a gay, and killed him for being a gay.
