Ace Ventura. Was equally more chill about trannies (no NFL football player today would agree to be in a movie where they kiss a character that's a troony) but also able to laugh at the absurdity of a troony and acknowledge disgust. It's a classic, otherwise: lots of great casting and absurd gags, with a great mystery around an unusual caper. Jim gives arguably the best 'over the top zany guy' performance of all time, better than Robin Williams (whom I dislike). Check it out if you haven't.

He didn't make a single one of those when he was 40, more like 28-39 the most recent being released last year. There haven't been many action movies that aren't high concept like sci-fi or capeshit that have been targeted at millenials or zoomers and certainly there aren't any 18 year old action stars yet anyway, which seems to be what your narrow need to be proven right demands. By the way, there hasn't been anything but capeshit because of, you guessed it, zoomers and millenails themselves while retirees still demand traditional action.

Definitely younger than reynolds by a few years. I think MBJ might be the youngest “action” star though. Next generation hasn’t produced anyone. They tried to make Miles Teller happen but that was a bust. Tom Holland might be all they have to offer and he got sucked into capeshit

    The Two Towers extended edition.
It's good, but definitely the worst of the trilogy.
I can't help but think some of the run time could've been used to introduce and develop the Dunedain rangers (and also the ghost army oath stuff). Then, they could use the Dunedain in the third movie and the ghosts wouldn't seem like some random shit.

watched "you were never really here" and "random harvest" today

both were decent enough. "you were never really here" was pretty unique and very succinct. I quite liked the lead actor in random harvest, though like many old movies, i found the ending to be extremely abrupt. ive gotten used to it, but in this case it was a little too abrupt for my taste

Love & Other Drugs. I liked it, Anne has nice breasts and is really pretty. Also like how they go from just fricking to her saying "making love" a bit before the end.

Maybe? Anne character learns to open up and let people in and Jake learns to actually care about other people truly love someone else, and the very last scene was really good. I suppose it's technically a rom-com, but I'd call it a romantic drama with some comedic parts.

reloaded had a pretty good reception when it came out. people had faults with the rave and the KFC man scenes and them shoving the goofy PS2 keanu right in your face but otherwise went "yeah this movie looks cool, not as good as matrix 1 but I can dig it"

the issue is that matrix 3 came out only half a year after and was horrible

I don't remember exactly what the last one was, so I'll just go with Looker (1981) which was a fun little pseudo-horror thriller with some really cheesy effects. The plot is also weirdly topical, with the whole "Digital copies of real life models/actors being used to advertise crap" aspect to the plot, the conspiracty angle added on top of the was pretty silly, but I still enjoyed it.

Ehn, villains should be able to be any colour or shade of homosexualry. Don't be a reverse woketard.
King Hale was the only real villain and the "heroes" were mostly white too.

        what should have been cut?

like half the stuff about how much of a drunk prostitute Anna is could be cut.

This truly is the most low IQ board.

Ok then, the story could easily be told in much less time. the "fat" that could be cut away was spread evenly throughout the movie. None of the scenes were bad and the unnecessary ones still had purpose. They were, however, superfluous; further pronouncing already established traits of the characters or adding entertaining, but unnecessary details to the plot.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes
I really liked it. I remember when the book came out and I thought it would be ridiculous, so I never bothered. Then I watched the movie and it was a surprise to see a more mature movie. I loved Lucy Gray and Snow.

      Anonymous

I don't know why I keep going to these movies when I now know for sure that the Hunger Games part rarely makes up more than 20 percent of the film... I just want my survival games kino and not the love/rebellion story that comes with it...

I enjoyed Lucy Gray though, I like that most of the characters in this have unexplained/unclear actions. I didn't read the book and thought for sure that a passing look of dismay crossed her face when she saw Snow at her concert post-games, but everyone else seems to have seen her as a lovestruck victim of Snow. I'm still convinced she was mostly manipulating him from beginning to end.

        Anonymous

        >I like that most of the characters in this have unexplained/unclear actions.
Same. I loved how you can't know for sure if shit happens because the characters did something or just unfortunate coincidences, like the snake in the scarf or Lucy showing Snow the cabin with the lost rifles.
        >I'm still convinced she was mostly manipulating him from beginning to end.
I believe both tried to used each other, but fell in love eventually.
Lucy Gray said trust is more important than love, but the scene in the cabin you see how she was a trustworthy person and her love for Snow by giving him the weapons and running away.
I can't believe I loved the songs and relationships in a battle royale movie more than the battle itself.

          Anonymous

haha well I'm glad some people were happy with the movie, I'll keep waiting for my pure battle royale arena film to come out one day. I was also surprised I liked the songs and how they fit into the story though.

You could argue that she left the weapons as a peace offering or even a distraction as she made her escape. Honestly I thought leaving the ending ambiguous was ideal in this case, otherwise the tension around their true intentions and confused feelings would have just been dissipated by a clear cut ending. It's a decent film to see with friends and talk about over dinner afterwards.

            >You could argue that she left the weapons as a peace offering or even a distraction as she made her escape.
Yes, but not loaded weapons, specially when she knew she was the last witness.
The songs were great, btw. The one in the arena is 10/10 and the one in the concert in district 12 is all about Snow.
            8/10 movie, would recommend it.

I'm watching Malignant right now. Did James Wan make this bad on purpose? Is it some kind of parody/pastiche that I'm too dumb to get? The ligthing, the actors, the script....everything looks and sounds cheap as frick, like I'm watching some indie directors first attempt at a movie. I'm 1h in and honestly am tempted to fast forward through this its so bad.

I remember getting a theater wide cheer for some dumb joke I made at the end of xmen 2's post credit scene when it came out. 12 yo me was so thrilled at that I tried chasing it for the rest of the year, making loud dumb jokes at the end of movies and plays I'd go see and failing miserably. Recently saw that Seinfeld episode where George does the same. Thank you for reading my blogpost

Watched Godland last night. Pretty comfy movie for Danish and Icelandic speakers. Could tell the director didn't really have an original idea to tell though. Arrogant, effeminate priest does colonizing in "foreign" land and loses his shit because he can't cope with the land and natives. Overly long shots and standard fare horror style indie soundtrack. Felt a bit like a short film stretched to 2 hours by a director with a chip on his shoulder about Danes.
