Mc was successful "professionally" but his self-destructive tendencies ended up alienating the people close to him, not very different from the message of Raging Bull.
I rewatched this for the first time in 10 years last night.
Everyone is so over the top and over acting, a lot of the humor in it isnt funny, but it has characters laughing and having fun which manipulates the audience into thinking its funnier than it actually is. And there is no real moral to the movie either. Everything is just presented as "look at how fun and crazy this lifestyle is!" and it even sort of justified it showing that Jordan and his crew were only ripping off super rich people anyway, and implying that the FBI agent who took him down didnt really accomplish much. So what is it? Jordan was sort of some anti hero wall street figure, but he was a bad guy criminal? Im not sure what to take away from it.
Also, it just glosses over what exactly Jordan was doing illegally. They let you know hes selling shitty penny stocks which isnt illegal at all, but is implied to be unethical, but the moment the film starts exploring the actual illegal shit he was doing, Leo just stops explaining and just says "who cares, just know it was all illegal lol"

Like most Scorcese movies
You wouldn't have rap garbage without mobshit and 2010s neoliberalism celebration without Wolf of Wall Street
Goodfellas at least made sense just because their crimes were so apparent. Murder and robbery are easy to depict and everyone knows that its bad, but some convoluted insider trading thing needs to have some explanation to it which the movie outright refuses to do, so you never really get to grasp why Jordan is a bad guy.
psychotic wops brutally murdering people over the slightest blow to their fragile egos is clear to get that its bad. I really like Goodfellas because it broke the mystic nobil criminal aura that shit like the godfather created. They arent people of honor, but just crazy Italian Black folk.
that scorsese is a hack
Not sure that there were any morals in that one, as it's about Wall street and all
Not ever the real Wall Street is the friends we made along the way?
People are selfish by nature.
You know i still havent watched tbis garbage
I watched this movie expecting it to be about a stockbroker who is also a werewolf. Huge disappointment.
Leo was so fricking annoying

You choose the actions you choose the consequences

The whole story was just an excuse to show Margot Robbie naked and launch her into super stardom.
it's all about family
The party must end eventually
Boomer israelites lived life on extra easy mode
>have good thing going
>blow it up because you can't help yourself
it's literally his mob films but with the italians being swapped for israelites
>blow it up
anon, he was still filthy rich at the end.
it was never about the money. it was about the lifestyle.
the stair scene
don't get caught
rich be richin
there is no nobility in poverty
