Imagine if you were being forced to marry a rich homosexual because your family was poor and he fancied your bussy, and every time you would go out he’d choose your meals for you and then force you to fellate him while he eats his dinner first.

>People, especially young people who have become wary of authority, have a tendency to rebel.
No they don't. Young people want to be successful, they emulate the most successful people they can find.
There was a very short period of time in american history, where the middle-class had enough disposable wealth, to pump into their kids, that "teens" became a demographic that corporations could market to. And they exclusively marketed to them the need to "rebel". But this was a 100% artificial piece of corporate propaganda and not natural behaviour for humans, especially for women.
>Jack was Rose’s chance at experiencing the freedom of rebellion.
No it wasn't. It was more corporate propaganda about how being a literal prostitute is better than being a responsible and respectable person who cares for their family and friends.

This is touched on in the movie. Rose's mom "did her duty" and expects Rose to do the same. Her mom is also not exactly complimentary towards her father if memory serves. She comes across as very cold.
I'm not sure of James Cameron's sexual politics. He's very strange. In True Lies Tom Arnold's character is "oh she cheated on you, so what", here we see a questionable if psychologically salient look at women, and then Avatar is all mother goddess. Also, he married a woman much older than him (arguably for his career) who was a staunch feminist. I call all of this cucked.

This intentionally gives the audience the idea that she is facing a lifetime of bullshit and sets up her desire to seek an outlet as entirely relatable and believable. Her fricking mom is essentially pawning her off and suggesting she buckle for the ride. It’s unfortunate that a seething poor person would be unable to relate to Rose’s fear of being like her mom and instead only think she’s a moron for purposefully choosing to throw it all away in favor of being a hood rat.

You're correct and it's a good bit of nuance for multiple viewings but Titanic essentially masks these legitimate issues in favor of what the movie is: a sappy love story for teenage girls.
I like Titanic, think Cameron is talented, but also think there are legitimate criticisms of the movie itself and how it depicts certain things that could come across as propaganda.
I personally view movies pre-2008 or so as legitimate artistic endeavors, people grappling with ideas and culture in an earnest way. But that changed with the financial collapse, corporate mandates, mass immigration, and all the ills of modern society.

Yes, plenty of people would happily marry into wealth— especially those who don’t have it. But from what we can tell she was already a part of the gentry so it’s not like the “good life” was unusual for her, and she was now being “persuaded” into accepting a marriage with a presumably older man who was portrayed as being kind of a prick by her useless mother for reasons that Rose doesn’t fully understand.
Also, this movie is a goddamn fantasy with characters that barely go any deeper than tropes and cliches. Treating it like propaganda or bullshit for inaccurately depicting reality is just bizarre.
There’s a difference between entertainment and propaganda, anon. There is no government agenda being pushed by movies like Titanic or Toy Story.

The crucial bit there being “to influence public opinion.” Nobody’s public opinions are built around the events being depicted in Titanic. At least not anybody whose voice is influential in any meaningful way. May as well consider Aesop’s Fables to be propaganda.

nta but many people's opinions absolutely are influenced by pop culture. Calling all pop culture "propaganda" may be a bit of a misnomer, but not by much.
Anonymous
I can agree with this. I would also argue that the difference is significant enough to be meaningful. Human beings are influenced by their environments and the media they consume is certainly a critical part of that influence. But that’s on a largely individual scale whereas propaganda is built and propagated for the express purpose of changing and controlling public opinion.
Pop culture is something that the public champions on its own whereas propaganda is something that government agencies champion instead. They are similar, but they are not the same.
Anonymous
I don't think only the government can create propaganda. Also filmmakers often hope/intend for their work to change public opinion. Pic related. The line between art and propaganda is quite thin, imo.
I also don't agree that pop culture is entirely championed by the public on its own, rather public tastes are shaped to a large extent by capital.
Anonymous
Yeah I guess these are pretty fair points. The line is much thinner than I admitted in my previous post. I guess since I associate propaganda with a negative connotation I don’t like to associate it with anything that can be considered “art,” but art certainly is the vehicle to which propaganda is given life. I guess I’m better off not judging it as negative but rather seeing it for what it is.

The propaganda in Titanic is very obvious. Rose is an evil person for a dozen different reasons, yet is presented in a positive light, and the movie is held up as the most romantic movie ever. Jack isn't much better himself. It's part of a trope of presenting anti-social, amoral losers (like Rose and Jack) as morally superior to pro-social, responsible winners (like all the rich people, Rose's husband in particular), in order to frame positive character traits as negative and negative character traits as positive in order to justify social change away from positive behaviours and towards negative ones. Here, the most obvious behaviour being championed is not marrying, which is an agenda that feminists have not exactly been shy about advocating for for a long time, and which has completely destroyed the lower-classes in all western societies. It's exactly the same inversion of values that we see in other propaganda like "body positivity", where profound bodily harm is presented as a good thing.

>Rose is an evil person for dozens of different reasons
Would you care to list them?
>It's part of a trope of presenting anti-social, amoral losers (like Rose and Jack) as morally superior to pro-social, responsible winners
I’ll admit that the movie does depict the rich as straight up buttholes who thought little of the poor, but that’s not exactly far from the truth. The poor aren’t always poor because they are shitty people (although often times they are). Are we even told how Rose’s husband came into his wealth? Does his wealth automatically make him a morally superior choice to Jack? The movie takes a humanist stance and tries to argue that no— he is not better because of his wealth. Also, tropes aren’t propaganda.
>Here, the most obvious behaviour being championed is not marrying
Doesn’t Rose end up getting married? I don’t remember there being a clear “anti-marriage” message. If anything it was anti-arranged-marriage, which already aligns with American values anyway. All it depicts is the passion of youth winning over the stark realities of adulthood, which is why it is entertainment.
Nothing about what is depicted in Titanic is controversial in any way whatsoever. The fact that it’s as beloved of a movie as it is despite how insanely cliche it is really says a lot about how little you understand about people.

Yes, that has been my point all along - Rose and her mother are upper-class about to fall down the class ladder somewhat (either to the middle-class or even working-class) but it isn't quite the life or death situation some anons are making out. Some anons are acting like if she rejected Calvert's marriage proposal her mum would starve to death and Rose would fall into a combine harvester. In reality, Rose would most like marry someone else with slightly less money than Calvert (but who she actually liked) possibly after a period of working as a seamstress or typist or something, while her mother would have to take on boarders in their home, or work as a nanny/cleaner, or something else of that nature.
Falling down the social ladder a bit may be a blow to the ego, but it isn't the end of the world. It happened to many families, and still does.

All of this is very possible when you are women with no skills or work experience.
They literally had whole charitable organizations spring up to support women in this situation because it was so debilitating.
Marry for money isn’t going to be emotionally cathartic but in this instance it is objectively a responsible and reasonable decision which saves her and her family from risking a life of misery

She's 17 and can easily learn to type or weave or any of the other jobs working and middle-class women did at the time. And she's young enough to marry, not to mention pretty.
>her family from risking a life of misery
it's just her and her mother. her mother still has the house, which she can rent out to lodgers. The film makes clear the mother is mainly motivated by a desire not to lose her high social status, not that they're seriously facing a life or death situation.

Finally, high IQ post
Irresponsible young women are more attracted to irresponsible men who are charming and sensitive, but who rarely accomplish anything of value. Jack's paintings, let alone his moral compass, was never going to be self-sustaining. That's why these young women grow up to be women in their 30s with high body counts who decide they want a man who is successful and possessive.
Women are prostitutes who will choose to spend there afterlife with a conman they knew and fricked for three days, vs. the man they where married too for 50 years and had children with.
Rose was a complete sack of shit her entire life, and the movie should have ended with a scene of her burning in hell, that would have been the only fitting conclusion to her character arc.
>how dare she say hi to jack in the afterlife!
ignoring that nothing in the film actually indicates it is the afterlife and not just a dream or even just a contextless epilogue its fun to watch you morons spitefully read into that scene that by seeing jack she must've chosen to snub her family spend all eternity with him
how fricking bitter and unloved must one be to jump to that conclusion
Just another Hebrew buzzword to hid your love of young children, wait till your 30 and start talking to 17 year old's they're like talking to any kid, dumb as frick and think like children.
the man who coined the term wasn't israeli, and the diagnostic cut-off for Pedophilia is 13 at the latest. Being sexually attracted to a 17 year old is manifestly normal. That's not to say older people should take advantage of their youthful naivety though. Just a biological fact.
17 is legal in most countries. Plus, pedos are prepubescent, so literally kids (no breast, no pubes, for example). This is a completely developed woman, with everything in its place. God americans are moronic. A woman who is 17, 11 months and 30 days, you are a pedo, the very next day, everything is alright. How can you guys be this moronic?

She was literally going to commit suicide because it was the only was she saw out. Don't know where you're getting this notion of her being some modern liberated women who was going to file for no fault divorce the moment they docked in the US
I am a guy, I've just had actual human relationships unlike most the posters here. I can't relate to Rose's 'rescue me' side of the relationship dynamics but at least I can relate to fondly remembering someone from my past because unlike most these bitter virgins here I've actually had relationships
Both were morons in the film.
She was an ungrateful b***h who didn't know jack shit about the hardship of real life.
DiCaprio was an absolute moron for risking his life and ultimately dying for a stuck up rich b***h. If it were real life she would eventuell grew tired of him and would eventuelly leave him for a man with money and power.
A woman can have a long fulfilling life with a loving husband and big family but still soaks her panties at the thought of that one loser chad who rawdogged the living shit out of her in the back of a car when she was a teenager.
>former Cahiers du Cinéma editor Jacques Rivette referred to it as "garbage" in a 1998 interview with Frédéric Bonnaud and was particularly critical of Winslet's performance, who he said was "unwatchable, the most slovenly girl to appear on the screen in a long, long time."
Non cynical answer? Rose and her mother discuss this: life isn't fair for women in their time, she's not free to make decisions, she needs to marry this guy because that means economic stability for her and her mother after her father died and left them nothing but debts. They both are socialites,I'm sure Rose's mother has no skill to work, and her only card to play is Rose.
Of course, this is their perspective; life is unfair if you're a third class passenger, but in Rose's perspective, she envies Jack's freedom because he can make decisions about his own life, while Rose can't.
That's why they show the pictures at the end. These are things Rose enjoyed doing once she was free from her family, things she could have never been able to do if she was Cal's wife even though many of those things were bad or indecent.
rose could've chosen not to marry the guy and work to support herself, that was always an option. the "unfairness" she has to deal with is being given THE OPTION to marry him and live a life of effortless luxury. imagine how much of a short-sighted, vapid narcissist you'd have to be to actually complain about that.
Ironically, she probably got some help because she was a survivor of the Titanic. I can see many people giving her shelter, food, and even a job until she got back on her feet.
Yeah, but “most” doesn’t apply to a society that has class differences. “Most” women of the upper class didn’t work— they just played social politics with their peers and fricked their husbands.

Yes, I'm well aware Rose and her mother were upper class people worried about falling down the social ladder into the middle class. I've seen the movie.
Most women in society worked, and always have. Rose would have had to become one of them (as would her mother, unless she could marry again). That would certainly be an unwelcome development for them, but by no means impossible. It happened a lot - widows would have to become nannies or house-cleaners, families fall down the social ladder, etc...
If you're trying to argue there were no jobs available for women (even unskilled ones) in the early 20th century you'd be wrong.

Working doing what, exactly? Also remember she had to support her mother. She chose to stay with Cal because she knew her mother couldn't make it on herself and neither would stand enduring living as a low class person. It's after she sees how her mother had no issue with people dying in the ship that she breaks away from her. She stopped caring for her.

The moral of the the story is that Jim Cameron is king of the world and made a movie for literally everybody >young boys get to see boobs and action >girls and women get a romance fantasy >boomers watch it because of the historical aspect
its the story of how the upper class co-opts the lower class parasitically and drains their life so they can continue to live in extravagance
rose is in a fantastical setting, the titanic, where her whimsy can run wild and create a short term crush. similar to a teenager falling in love at summer camp. but she would never get by in the lower class environment she finds demeaning when the fantasy finally ends.
imagine rose living in 1920s new york with no money, a tenement. it would be charming for a few months but she would quickly grow tired of it and it would wear on the relationship.
she resents her privilege and envies the lower class for what she perceives as them being more connected with the world and living a more fulfilling life. she engages in this escapade with leo to experience the vigor the lower class feels but he is ultimately just an escape for her to feel better about her place in the society without actually leaving it.
ironically the sinking of the ship is the best thing that could happen for her relationship, as it ensures that it will be remembered by rose as "real". as opposed to if it fizzled organically. she does not want jack to be a real person, only "a memory in her mind", so she can forgive herself for her unimaginable wealth and privilege while she knows others suffer in poverty.

Imagine making a 9/11 movie and rather than tell a story about a real person's life you instead create a character who cheats on her finance with a janitor and then returns years later to dump a priceless peace of israeliteelry that she stole in a One World Trade Center toilet.
>What was the moral of this story?
Women have no morals and they are never held accountable for their shit behavior. That's it, that's the entire story. >cheats on her husband >steals his wealth >is abusive to everyone around her >gets to escape a disaster while the men she betrayed and used die >some beta cuck marries her and she gets to have it all anyways >even after her entire life has passed, and she has provided for and cared for by her husband she still pines for another man
These are the cold hard facts. Someone can try to sugarcoat them but all these things were explicitly portrayed in the movie. The fact that women universally consider it one of the greatest love stories (up there with The Notebook which is its own can of worms) tells you everything you need to know about that gender.

The fact that women universally consider it one of the greatest love stories (up there with The Notebook which is its own can of worms) tells you everything you need to know about that gender.
Where do they imply this exactly? If anything they painted the majority of the men as heroes who sacrificed themselves so the women and children could live.
Just because you're married to a woman for a lifetime, or are engaged to a woman to be married, doesn't mean that she loves you
For women, love and relationships are moreso a means to an end. A girl can be with you, and secretly hate you the entire time, or be fantasizing about another guy the entire time, and you'd never know. There might be signs here and there, but she will likely be manipulating you too effectively for you to really realize the full scope of what is happening.
In the incel world-view Cal deserves to have Rose as property because of his social status, wealth, and height, while Jack has the kind of enviable good-looks that get him access to women's holes without having to accumulate wealth or social status. The fact that Rose has the pick of two 'chads' - one of them extremely rich - just by being born a pretty upper-class woman is probably also enraging to the incel. Men, particularly physically ordinary or unattractive men, have to work much harder to attract the opposite sex than pretty girls like Rose does.
So such a man will despise Jack and Rose, while sympathizing with Cal.
Incels don’t identify WITH cal, but they rightfully identify him as the victim of whorish behavior and balk against the notion that we’re meant to see him as the antagonist when the boat was the real villain
>we...I mean they
Rose did two things wrong: Sex outside of wedlock and throwing that israeliteel away. Other than that it was perfectly understandable for her not to want to go through with the engagement to a man she didn't love, or even like. Arranged marriage versus love.
The film suffers from that dream sequence at the end, where obviously they can't include any of her later family on the stairs because the viewers haven't been introduced to them. But it gives the impression she cares more about Jack then her post-rescue family.
It doesn´t matter how long you are married to your wife, how many children you gave her, how many great times you spend together, you will always be second place AT BEST behind the one dude who railed in her in her youth.
I never got the deal with her wanting to be some flea-ridden pauper to "rebel"
Wageslaving in a coal mine or cooking rat stew is freedom? Hollywood bullshit. The fact she wanted to choose that life proves she couldn't be trusted to make decisions in the first place. Pussy tingling =/= good idea.
>rich and poor chads always win >richcels and poorcels always lose
If I die saving some Stacy, I hope she dedicates more than a minute of her dying senile brain trying to reminisce about me.
Also, name that israeliteel after me and give it to the museum.
That women don't have to marry young. Sure, you may find an incredibly wealthy guy who will surely provide you a life of comfort and access to a all the important people of society. But why rush things if you are in your prime? Poor people frick MUCH better than rich middle age men. So stretch out every hole you can offer a wiener to its extreme and settle down with a good provider when the frick boys start finding you less attractive.
It's what Rose did, she found a man who didn't care about her past and she had children and grandchildren through him. But her heart and thoughts were always with the poor fricks she drained the semen from before they found their new home at the bottom of the ocean. She even tells her granddaughters, with eyes full of wonder, at just how much of a thrill it was to be Jacks prostitute. But their grandfather was okay too, she suppose.
Being an artist gets you pussy when you are under 20.

Irresponsible young women are more attracted to men who are charming and sensitive than to men who are possessive and controlling.

he was "controlling" because he chose the lamb for her at dinner? women are histrionic and get upset by everything
she could have been rescued by her rich husband
>I LOVE THIS!!
cringe
>he was "controlling" because he chose the lamb for her at dinner?
Imagine this being done to you and not being pissed off.
He's paying so she can shut the frick up and suck him off under the table.
Imagine if you were being forced to marry a rich homosexual because your family was poor and he fancied your bussy, and every time you would go out he’d choose your meals for you and then force you to fellate him while he eats his dinner first.
men and women are not completely fungible, regardless of what modern israelites tell you
>the scenario is so horrible that anon appeals to fungibility instead
Kek, talk about an uninspired response.
The scenario is not that horrible because I would just work for a living, like I do now, instead of homosex.
It would be nice to know that if all went wrong I could sell my holes for a life of unimaginable comfort, though.
Working is the more dignified life in any case, anon. Hating women for resorting to selling their holes is pathetic.
I don't hate them; but, I don't weep for them, either.
Nobody weeps for them, that’s the trade off. When a woman becomes a prostitute she has essentially become the female equivalent of a NEET.
This whole line of discussion has been about whether or not her lot in life was "unfair" i.e. whether or not to weep for her
She was essentially being forced into this arrangement, anon. Unless you are genuinely emotionally moronic I don’t see how you could argue otherwise in good faith. People, especially young people who have become wary of authority, have a tendency to rebel. They do this as a way to form an identity for themselves. Jack was Rose’s chance at experiencing the freedom of rebellion.
She isn’t a tragic figure for that reason. She was just dealing with what all young people usually deal with in the face of the tyranny of adult society.
Poor woman was paired up with a tall, powerful, billionaire.
People who think she was dealt a shit hand in life never even seen how shit real life can be. What a fricking joke.
She should have been grateful for not ha ing to work a single day in her privileged life. Ungrateful c**t
Yeah, maybe you’re right. But she was 17 years old and a 17-year-old doesn’t know their butthole from their ear hole. What they know is that they’ll be goddamned before they do the bidding of the homosexual boomers that told us this ship wouldn’t sink in the first place.
Just accept that she doesn't want to be with him regardless of him being tall, powerful and a billionaire. Complain about women being shallow gold diggers all the time yet here you get a film about one not being a shallow gold digger and you all sperg out.
She is wrong for not wanting to be with him. That’s the point.
There’s no moral argument for her lack of responsibility, it’s just childish prostitutedom
t. Gold digger
>She isn’t a tragic figure for that reason.
She isn't a tragic figure because she's an evil, selfish, thieving, lying, deceitful c**t.
It’s a depiction of the Bohemian concept of love you sperg. It’s moving because it tosses all of these stark realities to the wind in favor of impulse and excitement.
Where was Rose’s role model for a successful woman? Her mother? When they have no one to emulate, they rebel.
>Where was Rose’s role model for a successful woman? Her mother? When they have no one to emulate, they rebel.
>This is touched on in the movie. Rose's mom "did her duty" and expects Rose to do the same. Her mom is also not exactly complimentary towards her father if memory serves. She comes across as very cold.
>This intentionally gives the audience the idea that she is facing a lifetime of bullshit and sets up her desire to seek an outlet as entirely relatable and believable.
Is a gift forced on someone? Is she being forced if she can choose Jack?
You say rebellion, I say petulance, a tantrum from a petty emotional tyrant.
>forced
My homie you are deluded if you think 17 year olds today would not happily be forced to marry a millionaire. I'm sure even back then the 17 year olds knew the value of a dollar
Everything produced by Hollywood is propaganda.
There’s a difference between entertainment and propaganda, anon. There is no government agenda being pushed by movies like Titanic or Toy Story.
Of course there is, just new world order propaganda in every single show and movie.
I’m sorry you feel that way, but you’re wrong. What you’re describing is not the same thing as propaganda.
>Propaganda is the dissemination of information—facts, arguments, rumours, half-truths, or lies—to influence public opinion. Deliberateness and a relatively heavy emphasis on manipulation distinguish propaganda from casual conversation or the free and easy exchange of ideas
The crucial bit there being “to influence public opinion.” Nobody’s public opinions are built around the events being depicted in Titanic. At least not anybody whose voice is influential in any meaningful way. May as well consider Aesop’s Fables to be propaganda.
>Nobody’s public opinions are built around the events being depicted in Titanic
nta but many people's opinions absolutely are influenced by pop culture. Calling all pop culture "propaganda" may be a bit of a misnomer, but not by much.
>Doesn’t Rose end up getting married?
James Cameron's now wife Suzy Amis plays Rose's granddaughter so no, she got married.
Lol. The fantasy of a young handsome passionate guy saving you from the icky controlling Billy Zane is still just as relevant. The only thing that has changed is Jack would be a POC today.
>She was essentially being forced into this arrangement
"Pressured" would be a more apt word than forced.
Fine, but being “pressured” by everyone you care about isn’t much of a choice, anon. The fear of being ostracized has a tendency to override much of a well-socialized person’s behavioral choices.
I didn't say it would be pleasant.
No, but you did try to imply that her being “pressured” is somehow any different than her being “forced,” which it really wasn’t.
>but you did try to imply that her being “pressured” is somehow any different than her being “forced,” which it really wasn’t
Yes it is. The gap between the two may not exactly be a chasm, but it is there.
If that mild social pressure is the most uncomfortable concern, then any other problems must logically be smaller than it. So none of them could be anything worth complaining about.
In traditionalist cultures, your family will literally kill you for defying it, and people will still defy their families. Anyone complaining about these mild social pressures as if they are anything but trivial is pathetic and disgusting.
Anon I’m sorry but your English is way too shitty to make a coherent point with whatever it is you’re writing here.
yeah, congratulations on being extremely stupid. we're all very impressed.
I’m forced to be a wage slave every single day doing awful things I despise. Emotional and physical torture
That’s what not being a super wealthy mega elite means
The point is that your wealth really doesn't have anything to do with how much being alive sucks
I enjoy not working. I really do, when I’m home alone with no one to bother me, I am very content and happy
But because I’m not a mega rich super elite I actually have to work to have anything in life. A 17 year old socialite with no experience in life doesn’t understand this
Poverty is misery, which is why everyone who is poor does terrible things to escape it or cope with it
yeah it does
nah. that's taking it too far
homosexual
What you say about poor kid with an ailing mother who needs help.
This kid has a job acceptance letter to a mega Fortune 500 where he can work a daily job he doesn’t like but be set for life.
And he declines because he wants to bang a random hippy chick and smoke pot?
marriage isn't a job, as you know. Rose and her mother can get proper jobs to support themselves/each other.
Nonargument
A woman’s role is her responsibility to marriage and the lifestyle her husband can provide
Likewise a man’s responsibility is to care for his wife by providing a suitable lifestyle for her.
The argument is spun. You see how she’s completely irresponsible and spoiled? This is basically celebrating being a burn out loser no different from that UVA homosexual who ran off into the woods and ate poison mushrooms
>Nonargument
lol you're such a homosexual. of course it's an argument, which is why you've had to counter it with an argument.
She shouldn't have married him in the first place. It is perfectly legitimate to reject a marriage proposal, even if accepting it would prevent your upper-class mum from having to get a job like working-class women.
> It is perfectly legitimate to reject a marriage proposal, even if accepting it would prevent your upper-class mum from having to get a job like working-class women.
Not really, we’re talking about skilless poverty in the height of the 1920s where getting your hand chopped off in a wheat thresher was pretty common.
Whining about feeling trapped by success and money is just humble bag bullshit for the masses. Every Irish moron on that boat would have sold their grandmother for a shot at the life she was about to inherit (just like they were selling their blood and heritage for a shot at life in America)
>Not really
Yes really, and there is no danger of Rose or her mother having to operate a wheat thresher. You're being overly dramatic.
I don't think you need to get offended at the thought of a woman rejecting a marriage proposal from a rich man she didn't like.
*also the Titanic sank in 1912, not the 1920s
>I don't think you need to get offended at the thought of a woman rejecting a marriage proposal from a rich man she didn't like.
Who’s offended?
It’s just an objectively irresponsible and selfish play on her part. It’s prostitute brained
That’s just a fact. Idk why you feel the need to defend it
>Who’s offended?
You, clearly. The idea of a woman rejecting a man you self-insert as enrages you.
This is as pathetic as a “hole” argument
It's not wrong. The idea of Rose rejecting someone like Calvert actually angers you.
Wrong ideas don’t “anger” me.
I think you’re projecting
You boss comes to you and offers you a large amount of money to let him frick you in the butthole. Taking the money could help your mother who is a widower. Are you going to take it?
>You boss comes to you and offers you a large amount of money to let him frick you in the butthole. Taking the money could help your mother who is a widower. Are you going to take it?
If I were a woman? Yes.
Try this
>your decently attractive, b***hy CEO offers you a personal position as her executive aid - sex is implied but the pay out is huge. Do you take the job or do you wage slave it up or bang a random hippy, smoke pot, and wage slave for the rest of your life
>just become a prostitute bro
no
>just have sex with a single woman instead of working a day in your life
>free golden ticket to a life of luxury and status, but you have to hang out with a woman who’s kinda b***hy
I hate to break it to you, anon, but this is a pretty simply argument.
yeah nah I'd rather not be a prostitute thanks. self-respect and all that. Maybe this is the issue? You find it hard to believe other people wouldn't want to do things you'd be happy to do.
>so what I’m fricked in the ass by my boss every day and spent my youth locked in a wage cage, I have self respect enough not have sex with an attractive woman
Lmao
And this is coming from the labor perspective of a guy in 2023, can you even imagine what poverty labor looked like in the 1920s? She’d be sharing a bedroom with a man actual prostitute who gives it up to 100 men for pennies. Because she wanted to frick random hobos when she was 17
>She’d be sharing a bedroom with a man actual prostitute who gives it up to 100 men for pennies
this is your bizzare headcanon. And for the second time, the Titanic sank in 1912.
>so what I’m fricked in the ass by my boss every day
more strange fantasies. Rose going to work as a typist and later marrying a middle-class man she actually loves is hardly bum-rape. People did have normal jobs in 1912, anon. It wasn't all Dickensian slave-labor.
> Rose going to work as a typist and later marrying a middle-class man she actually loves is hardly bum-rape
So she winds up lower status after a life of labor, liberating
>So she winds up lower status
> Some anons are acting like if she rejected Calvert's marriage proposal her mum would starve to death and Rose would fall into a combine harvester.
The film makes clear the mother is mainly motivated by a desire not to lose her high social status, not that they're seriously facing a life or death situation.
>the tyranny of adult society
>She was essentially being forced into this arrangement, anon. Unless you are genuinely emotionally moronic I don’t see how you could argue otherwise in good faith. >She isn’t a tragic figure for that reason. She was just dealing with what all young people usually deal with in the face of the tyranny of adult society.
Finally, high IQ post
Wrong. Women like her chose dudes like Leo's character there because they think they are the ones who get to be in control with those dudes.
…what?
Irresponsible young women are more attracted to irresponsible men who are charming and sensitive, but who rarely accomplish anything of value. Jack's paintings, let alone his moral compass, was never going to be self-sustaining. That's why these young women grow up to be women in their 30s with high body counts who decide they want a man who is successful and possessive.
For me, it was a juxtaposition that art comes in many forms. this was not one of them.
I juxtapositioned you're mom.
no you didn't
pale + redhead = snowbunny guaranteed.. make this homie thirsty
Bro she went to the titanic, things about to hit a ghostberg and her torment will start again.
>and the cycle just repeats over and over for all eternity…
>how dare she say hi to jack in the afterlife!
ignoring that nothing in the film actually indicates it is the afterlife and not just a dream or even just a contextless epilogue its fun to watch you morons spitefully read into that scene that by seeing jack she must've chosen to snub her family spend all eternity with him
how fricking bitter and unloved must one be to jump to that conclusion
What if she can be with both men in heaven? Its heaven afterall.
Looks and charm are all that matter and a woman “loves” about as deeply as she shits.
Bitches ain't shit but hoes and tricks.
Looks are all that matter insofar as getting prostitutes, but money will buy your life.
she is supposed to be 17, so isn't everyone who watches this a pedo
Fattest 17 year old I've ever seen.
(in 1999, holy frick are teenagers fat now)
It was a different time.
i guess you love these times, satan
Pedo is bellow 13
?? Kate was 22
17 is ephebe not pedo.
Slippery slope mate.
Just respect the boundaries and leave it at that.
Only people who get worked up about age of consent laws are pedophiles and communists (often the same)
International waters, no rules out there.
We won, tummy enjoyers.
Ah sweet, another thread for literal incels to complain that rose had the audacity to even think about the man who rescued and ultimately gave his life to save her during what was almost certainly the most traumatic experience of her entire life
Only thing she did wrong was toss the heart into the ocean, that was kinda dumb.
it smells like the bottom of the sea in here, all of a sudden
Based. Guys just don't understand this film.
guy here, i understand it but what i don't understand is why they thought it was a good idea to make her out to be such a b***h. back then she would have gotten a swift back-hander from her soon to be husband and then married him. it's they way things were.
>back then she would have gotten a swift back-hander from her soon to be husband and then married him. it's they way things were.
She was literally going to commit suicide because it was the only was she saw out. Don't know where you're getting this notion of her being some modern liberated women who was going to file for no fault divorce the moment they docked in the US
>She was literally going to commit suicide
no she wasn't. that was just a cry for attention.
I am a guy, I've just had actual human relationships unlike most the posters here. I can't relate to Rose's 'rescue me' side of the relationship dynamics but at least I can relate to fondly remembering someone from my past because unlike most these bitter virgins here I've actually had relationships
I totally believe you and I'm very impressed.
Drown at the bottom of the ocean normalscum
Both were morons in the film.
She was an ungrateful b***h who didn't know jack shit about the hardship of real life.
DiCaprio was an absolute moron for risking his life and ultimately dying for a stuck up rich b***h. If it were real life she would eventuell grew tired of him and would eventuelly leave him for a man with money and power.
This is unironically true and I'm not a male feminist in the slightest. I would do the same if I was her.
The guys in the sub have less than 3 hours of air left, if you start watching Titanic now they'll be 100% certainly dead by the time you finish.
>if you start watching Titanic now they'll be 100% certainly dead by the time you finish.
Goddamn, that’s br00tal
Would Cinemaphile frick her? I'd frick her. I'd frick her so hard.
I find it hard to believe there’s anyone who wouldn’t frick her.
Being a woman means a life on easy mode with no consequences.
The MPAA will approve boobs for PG-13 as long as it's a billion dollar blockbuster.
reminder this movie was rated G
Rated G for "Gee, those are some nice breasts."
Are you fricking moronic?
She’s 17 and has no skills. How would you suggest she “work to support herself” in the early 20th century?
don't ask me, I didn't live in the 17th century. im sure she could spin cloth or something, those made lots of money.
Ironically, she probably got some help because she was a survivor of the Titanic. I can see many people giving her shelter, food, and even a job until she got back on her feet.
Marry and shut up
most women worked in the early 20th century (and every other century)
Not the gentry. Do you even know what a socialite is?
Do you know what "most" means?
Alright, fine— you got me. She could have found some shitty work somewhere if she really wanted to.
Exactly.
Working doing what, exactly? Also remember she had to support her mother. She chose to stay with Cal because she knew her mother couldn't make it on herself and neither would stand enduring living as a low class person. It's after she sees how her mother had no issue with people dying in the ship that she breaks away from her. She stopped caring for her.
life is unfair for women because her mother forces her to support her?
>neither would stand enduring living as a low class person
*tiny violins play nearer my god to thee as her smv sinks*
A person always has at least two choices, do something or don't do it.
What was she meant to do with her mother?
This was her mother's problem, not hers.
Damn, this rough and tough guy over here is such a staunch individualist that he doesn’t even have sympathy for people who feel a sense of responsible forwards protecting their family members when given the chance. Do you have a podcast I can subscribe to so that I too can learn how to become irrationally callous as a way of defending myself from emotional distress?
Letting emotions affect your reasoning is a sign of low intelligence.

she didn't care about her mother anyway
>life isn't fair for women
life isn't fair for anyone, stupid.
Friendly reminder rose was only 17 in this movie. Jack committed statutory rape.
rich roastie vampirizing the poor to steal their vitality, then dropping them to go be rich again
Thanks god never watched this flick and never will. Aвaтap too
>Well Ephialtes was forced to accept Xerxes' bribe money, he could not resist!
wealthmaxing wont get you a girl to genuinely want you
all it takes is one 18 yo prettyboy to get her wet and hand over her virginity to him
and not only that
dont matter how many children or husbnads, granchildren she has for years to come.
at her dying bed she'll be thinking those 2 hours she spent with the chad and meet him in afterlife where none of the people that paid for her life will be there
if you're not good looking you're inherently bad in most peoples eyes
based James Cameron blackpilling everyone
That women would rather be some skinny 20yo's prostitute than your wife
The moral of the the story is that Jim Cameron is king of the world and made a movie for literally everybody
>young boys get to see boobs and action
>girls and women get a romance fantasy
>boomers watch it because of the historical aspect
Women are incredibly moronic but men are more moronic for going along.
Put the lotion in the basket
it is the inescapable role of the poor to toil and ultimately die for the wealthy
at least he got to frick her though
ikr, god i wish that were me.
if i ever get to frick her irl i'll scream Clementine! when i cum.
"Frick you anons"
its the story of how the upper class co-opts the lower class parasitically and drains their life so they can continue to live in extravagance
rose is in a fantastical setting, the titanic, where her whimsy can run wild and create a short term crush. similar to a teenager falling in love at summer camp. but she would never get by in the lower class environment she finds demeaning when the fantasy finally ends.
imagine rose living in 1920s new york with no money, a tenement. it would be charming for a few months but she would quickly grow tired of it and it would wear on the relationship.
she resents her privilege and envies the lower class for what she perceives as them being more connected with the world and living a more fulfilling life. she engages in this escapade with leo to experience the vigor the lower class feels but he is ultimately just an escape for her to feel better about her place in the society without actually leaving it.
ironically the sinking of the ship is the best thing that could happen for her relationship, as it ensures that it will be remembered by rose as "real". as opposed to if it fizzled organically. she does not want jack to be a real person, only "a memory in her mind", so she can forgive herself for her unimaginable wealth and privilege while she knows others suffer in poverty.
t. zizek
how come they weren't wearing those cool sunglasses in the actual movie?
Orwell was right when he said that all art is propaganda but that was probably the lowest IQ of all his takes.
The rise of propaganda has directly correlated with government funding and corporate dictate ala Blackrock who functionally controls the US Treasury. It's transparent and inorganic but exactly what billionaires have done throughout history.
>It's propaganda only when I disagree with it
Do not covet thy neighbour's wife.
women are unreliable prostitutes
revoke their rights and revert them back to property
Frick your way to the top.
I hate Rose. Calvin is the protagonist and the main character of the story.
That you are gay.
A lot of people like this gay gay obviously took this seriously

>What was the moral of this story
Bitches ain't shit but hoes and tricks
Cant make a prostitute into a housewife
Imagine making a 9/11 movie and rather than tell a story about a real person's life you instead create a character who cheats on her finance with a janitor and then returns years later to dump a priceless peace of israeliteelry that she stole in a One World Trade Center toilet.
>What was the moral of this story?
Some pussy is worth dying for.
Prime Winslet among them.
Titanic sucks my balls
Morals are for kids movies
>What was the moral of this story?
Women have no morals and they are never held accountable for their shit behavior. That's it, that's the entire story.
>cheats on her husband
>steals his wealth
>is abusive to everyone around her
>gets to escape a disaster while the men she betrayed and used die
>some beta cuck marries her and she gets to have it all anyways
>even after her entire life has passed, and she has provided for and cared for by her husband she still pines for another man
>her husband
*fiance
not that infidelity to a fiance is much better. but people can break off engagements if they don't want to get married.
These are the cold hard facts. Someone can try to sugarcoat them but all these things were explicitly portrayed in the movie. The fact that women universally consider it one of the greatest love stories (up there with The Notebook which is its own can of worms) tells you everything you need to know about that gender.
Is there a male movie equivalent of this?
harem anime
james bond movies
mainstream pornography
Hmm Bond is probably the closest
'Women are powerful and Men are stupid.'
Where do they imply this exactly? If anything they painted the majority of the men as heroes who sacrificed themselves so the women and children could live.
Watch the movie and you'll find out.
Intimacy is a tool for women
>t. haven't spoken to a female non-family member since high school
>spends his entire morning defending a dumb prostitute’s decision to throw her life away and frick a hobo on a Mongolian mud carving forming
>have to live like ordinary middle-class people rather than upper-class
>throw her life away
beware of enthusiasm and of love, both are temporary and quick to sway.
Outside of reproductive capacity, women are a net negative to the world and should be raped and drowned.
Why does this movie upset incels so much?
it doesn't at all
people pretend it does and that is the meem
In the incel world-view Cal deserves to have Rose as property because of his social status, wealth, and height, while Jack has the kind of enviable good-looks that get him access to women's holes without having to accumulate wealth or social status. The fact that Rose has the pick of two 'chads' - one of them extremely rich - just by being born a pretty upper-class woman is probably also enraging to the incel. Men, particularly physically ordinary or unattractive men, have to work much harder to attract the opposite sex than pretty girls like Rose does.
So such a man will despise Jack and Rose, while sympathizing with Cal.
is this what it's like for "big girls"?
probably. but they often become feminists - who are more or less the female equivalent of incels
groce, big girls in army boots that can't wipe their rear-ends properly
But it gives the impression she cares more about Jack then her post-rescue family.
> perfectly understandable for her not to want to go through with the engagement to a man she didn't love
Liberal fantasy land
nah, reality for people who have experienced relationships
Uh sweety, 40,000 years of arranged marriage says otherwise
Only poors marry for “love” (hormones)
are you pretending you're in an arranged marriage, anon?
Yes, I arranged it by seducing my wife
Don't go visiting the wreck in a janky unregulated submersible
Booba
Ivory tummy.
Suicidal chicks are EZ
It doesn´t matter how long you are married to your wife, how many children you gave her, how many great times you spend together, you will always be second place AT BEST behind the one dude who railed in her in her youth.
I never got the deal with her wanting to be some flea-ridden pauper to "rebel"
Wageslaving in a coal mine or cooking rat stew is freedom? Hollywood bullshit. The fact she wanted to choose that life proves she couldn't be trusted to make decisions in the first place. Pussy tingling =/= good idea.
did the fact that DiCaprio was the best-looking guy on the boat escape you?
Women are more important than men.
>rich and poor chads always win
>richcels and poorcels always lose
If I die saving some Stacy, I hope she dedicates more than a minute of her dying senile brain trying to reminisce about me.
Also, name that israeliteel after me and give it to the museum.
women will drop you in a second for "excitement"
But their grandfather was okay too, she suppose.
these hoes ain't loyal
'rich girl pussy go crazy'
It was a night to remember
Women are ungrateful bawds.
Money can't buy love, chuds.
Fat b***h
If rose just stayed on the life boat they would both be alive.
together forever
cute
This thread = incel magnet
Please never try and get into a relationship you losers
my dick has been in a lot more women than you and even I know that they're inherently dogs, keep projecting you low T homosexual
the moral of the story is that women are monster semen demons who will rip your soul apart to get their pussy wet
No doubt James made her be horrible on purpose, its a female power fantasy movie that's why they liked it so much.
for women to watch this, be inspired, cheat on their partners on a whim and further destruction of the nuclear family.
