Omega, Metal and Emerl are all badasses so she fills the role of being vulnerable and inept and a "minority" in being a robot.
I think they accepted her too quick however, she's essentially a danger and a drain on resources for a society struggling to recover from the past 8 world-ending disasters. Like anon suggested she'd be put to better use
I believe it's cause right now Sonic comics are tackling one story at a time and at a slow pace. Back in late Archie you could jump to multiple scenarios, every character had something going on, Sonic was never taking down time.
Belle feels like a story that should be happening while something bigger is going on.
Because she's wasting everybody's time with a story not worth telling, and it keeps getting prolonged to the point it's just spinning its wheels, but Evan Stanley REALLY wants people to like her so she's keeping her in front focus.
Omega/Emerl/Gemerl/Gamma again, but girl and wood.
But also she doesn't do anything and her weird story arc is just a lot of circling around ideas even a small child would grasp in a few pages.
She's representative of the larger problem with IDW Sonic focusing on building up very simple stories instead of just telling them. They've spent about a year hyping up Surge vs Sonic when it could have been handled in just one issue and built upon if people liked it.
Im just pointing out that the concepts been done in Sonic many times, it's not really new. It's just a different approach. That's why people are cold on it, those characters are a tough act to follow.
I would like to see her connecting with her older brother, I mean sentimentally, although I would also like to see metal sonic connecting to belle's usb port.
I would like to see her connecting with her older brother, I mean sentimentally, although I would also like to see metal sonic connecting to belle's usb port.
Jokes aside I do want to see her interact with Metal Sonic. Both are Ivo’s creations, but with different purposes and backgrounds. Metal was created out of evil, and a desire to copy and surpass someone else. Belle was created by a good man with a good heart, and was made to be her own person, and Tinker’s daughter. I wanna see her talk to Metal, just once.
I just want Metal Sonic to be an interesting character with depth, man. They gave him a brief moment of that in the annual issue and I just want my favorite character to have a proper character arc
>He will just look at her for a second after she tries to get her word in and go about with whatever he was tasked with.
that would be the joke, a whole chapter where belle desperately tries to connect with her big brother without achieving any results, wouldn't it be fun to see her trying everything, crying and suffering to maybe realize that she can never have a true relationship with her family?

I never quite got Metal Sonic. He was designed to mimic sonic in every way to try and surpass him, yet he comes off as an emotionless drone with barely any drive half the time.
Hell, why would belle not piss him off more because she was created with free will while he's basically a glorified lapdog?

belle is a lapdog who will do what he is told without question, metal sonic only follows eggman because he knows it suits him and will leave him when he doesn't need it.

But that's untrue. Metal Sonic flip flops between goon for Eggman and Generic badguy robot.
Not a single part of modern metal is shown as having his own personality. Hell the closest we got to
That’s just it. Back in CD and the Sonic OVA he had some semblance of a personality similar to Sonic’s. He would mimic Sonic in some capacity, even doing his finger wag. When it came down to it in the OVA he let himself die in a volcano instead of letting Sonic try to save him, because “there can only be one Sonic”. Somewhere early in the series they lost sight of that.

But why would Metal follow Eggman period if he's programmed to be Sonic?
Why is Metal even a bad guy half the time? If he's programmed to try and surpass and replace sonic, why isn't he a hero?

That’s all part of his programming. Since Metal Sonic is programmed to copy and surpass Sonic, he’s determined to prove he’s better than is is the real Sonic. Granted, he’s still loyal to Eggman and will normally carry out his will without question, but he’s also obsessed with proving his superiority, even to a fault. That’s why he’s Eggman’s lapdog in some cases while going rogue in some others.

Probably the most interesting thing about IDW so far is learning that Eggman has the potential to be good and doesn't entirely hate the time he was living as Mr. Tinker, and Belle is a physical manifestation of that which makes it interesting.
I know a lot of people love Archie Eggman who is a cold-blooded asshole through and through, but this Eggman is different. I get the feeling he's only "evil" because it gives him freedom to pursue science to his whims without having to worry about the feelings of others.
I like that the Mr. Tinker thing had some 'result' but I think Eggman will stay as he is from now on so they better stop making Sonic this, "let's hope he will change this time" kind of guy.
>IDW Eggman is evil simply because he isn't bound by anyone else's laws or ethics, whether he actively breaks them or not
Probably the same kind of evil scientist I would be tbh
I agree. I want want this but fear it at the same time. Storytellingwise, Belle dying would be most useful thing she could ever do. However, I am afraid that in-story she will be made into a martyr for being useless and dying like her life mattered to anyone.
A good concept that will never reach its full potential due to requiring significant development and interaction with tentpole characters who cannot change for marketing purposes then making pursuing these narratives a once sided pursuit of character wankery with no value for others.
See, that's the thing about Belle hate I find kind of confusing. If you want characters who can develop and change then Belle is your answer. Have characters who AREN'T the main cast who can change by their actions. Have who the main cast are be positive and spin it as an influence that can change others.
Because Belle's development means nothing in the grand scheme of things her actions cannot effect the actual main cast in any meaningful way. That's the divider Belle is not a main cast member she is a secondary character that takes time away from the reason people would read a sonic comic which is Sonic and Friends.
If she was able to make some permeant change in lets say for example Eggman long term because of her actions and development then it would be worth it since Eggman is an actual main character.
Tl;DR people come to the sonic comic to see Sonic Characters have storylines, devlopment and arcs not disposable OC's.
Isn't it a bit early to decide that though? Like, we're in the middle of her story and you have no actual clue where it's going to end up. I feel like a good character with a strong emotional connection to at least TWO of the main villains has a lot more potential for cool stuff you guys just aren't seeing. None of the main cast can claim to be part of Eggman's family. Well, other than Omega. But he isn't the most emotionally mature character in the group.
Do you seriously believe that? Because it feels like she should have gotten her resolution the moment she realized yes, Eggman was her creator, and yet that moment of realization has been kept getting redone over and over like it's supposed to have some kind of big impact, and it never does.
I don't know where Belle's story is supposed to go, but it feels like it should have actually gone somewhere by now, and it hasn't.
>Like we're in the middle of her story
That's the problem. We are STILL in the middle of her story. Some people complain about Metal Virus arc dragging on, but Belle's neverending story is way worse.
Why spend screentime on literal who changing in Sonic comic? She is not the main cast so who cares about her development. It's taking away time from Sonic and co. doing shit and giving it to OC.
Batman has changed quite a lot Just not in a wow I learned how to do X type of way.
Case in point every robin has added a new level to the character in his dynamics with them. The rouges gallery has evolved over time having multiple incarnations.
The best way I can but it is that each writer makes their own version of Batman for their run and then the aspects that were positively received survive and are added to the character and mythos. Again see Harley Quin not only did she grow but her dynamic with the bats grew also to the point where she is basically an entirely different character.
And like it or not the batfam has changed Bruce in ways I think even the character could barely comprehend.
Fuck it to tie it back to Belle to make her development worth it she needs to grow past this author, past this comic, she need to become a part of the greater sonic ecosystem, if she can do that then she becomes worthy of the attention placed upon her.
Its Unironic if she gets a place in sonic as a series beyond the comic then all of the time and effort placed upon her will retroactively be worth it because it led to that point where she becomes something lasting within the context of SonicTM.

No? The rivalry between SatAM/comics canon Sonic fans and games canon "SegaSonic" fans almost predates the modern web.
Harley Quinn received so much dicksucking even in stuff like Injustice it's insane and that's bad. All the changes Batman has in some stories are irrelevant to other ones as they are ignored unless it's Morrison writing his fanfic.
And yet Harley has persisted from her origins and so has retroactively not only become relevant but has embed herself in the bedrock of the comic while also keeping the core of her development.
Imagine if Tails (who is closer to Robin but that's not the point) kept his SA1 and 2 character development of standing on his own across the franchise from that point on and stories that don't have him start like that eventually let him become like that.
That the level of value Harley has not relevant at first but through popularity and fan interest has persisted.

Tails' SA1 and SA2 development would be amazing if kept. Sadly, I know that Sega doesn't want that and I'm accepting and coping with the fact that it will stay that way. In IDW's comic, official characters aren't allowed to change, but there are no such mandates with new OCs. So we are left with writers developing new characters while sidelining the main cast. Suddenly, I find myself not reading Sonic comic but comic about these IDW exclusive characters.
> Batman doesn't change

She's all of the hope of Cream, but half of the childhood. She's like all the joy of Amy's reintroduction, but none of the sour sass. Well, something big is going on with Surge and Starline at Eggman's base.
Yeah and not many people were bothered by Belle last chapter.
Because she's wasting everybody's time with a story not worth telling, and it keeps getting prolonged to the point it's just spinning its wheels, but Evan Stanley REALLY wants people to like her so she's keeping her in front focus.

Wasn't eggman a masked wrestler entirely because he liked making children smile?
starline strikes me as the type of supervillain that has the "oh wait shit what do I do now" moment.

Fire wood
