hardly any multiverse shit. that 30 second sequence of them going through like 12 different universes should have been the whole movie. instead it was just a bunch of boring bullshit with one grassy universe and one cameo universe. I don't even watch these marvel movies because I expect dogshit and I was still disappointed
I didn't hate it, it wasn't one of the better films but it could have been done much better.
I think the biggest gripe I have is that they just tried to cram too much into the movie.
Wanda becoming a bad guy and wanting her kids could have been 1 movie, and the whole multi-verse hopping around with chavez could have been 1 movie. Tying wanda's desires into the multiverse just turned everything into a big mess.
The entire fun of multiverse hopping is seeing and dealing with all the different weird shit you'd see in them all, but we basically saw nothing of interest outside that like 5 minute segment.
The only real good part imo was the Wanda fight against the illuminati because it was fun and showed how brutal she could be. Everything else was just kinda meh.
"multiverse" theme only traveling to another universe that its practically the same as their own.
Everything everywhere did way better and above that
must have had a lot of production problems, the movie was awfully put together. Also Everything Everywhere did the multiverse much better.
DS2 was just an CGI fest from start to end.
>have a multiverse setting >don't use it at all
Hmm, where did we screw up?
wtf are these complaints about no multiverse shenanigans? they CLEARLY went to a bizarre alternate reality where cars go on red and stop on green. i'd like to see you come up with something as imaginative as that
The movies are now expecting the audience to have watched all their shitty Disney+ shows in addition to the 20+ film catalog to fully appreciate the story. And it is all too obvious Disney is going to use the Multiverse as the mechanism to replace all the main hero cast with inclusive and diverse replacements once the original contracts expire.
Partly this. I feel like they realized it was a mistake to leave fans gatekept by shitty disney plus shows though, and the newer shows haven't seemed to have too much important shit.
Hawkeye and winter soldier literally just introduced the evil captain america and evil sharon carter, that's nothing that can't be fixed with a little introduction.
Moon Knight was self contained, and even as a character introduction barely explained it's main characters over the course of 8 episodes
Hawkeye introduced kate bishop and kingpin, but kingpin did literally nothing of consequence, he could have been replaced by any villain.
So far I'd say wandavision and loki are the only shows you really should watch if you care about keeping up
he's literally written as the most palatable kind of narcissist, one that isn't really one and can change. But he's still written as one, because he was originally a villain.
You're telling me you don't have a Disney+ subscription? What, can you not afford it? Just a few nickels a day and you receive premiere superhero magic produced by the most revolutionary and forward-thinking minds in Hollywood. Trust me, you will want to watch all of it. Especially since it is rumored that a certain minority character from one of these shows will be making a cameo in the next movie. The dopamine hit when your brain recognizes him will be unreal!
>America girl was fricking useless >Complete lack of pacing >Despite being about the multiverse, they never really explore anything except "slightly more futuristic earth" >Strange barely ever gets to do anything particularly creative >Spend a bunch of time introducing characters that instantly job so they can have le ebin girl power fight between bri'ish cap/black marvel and wanda >America randomly asspulls her power control out of nowhere from the power of friendship or some shit >Introduce fricking professor x just to have him die
Strange controlling his dead corpse flying around with ghost wings from another universe was cool though
>Strange controlling his dead corpse flying around with ghost wings from another universe was cool though
I liked that part, too. But there's a couple more things that have to added: >Wong is done so dirty. He's Sorcerer Supreme, but barely has any real power - he should be as capable as Strange. At least. He's just the funny sidekick now. And not that funny. >Ghetto Marvel can't take on Scarlet Witch. There is no consistency to Marvel's powers. The producers insisted that she was the most powerful of the superheros, and took a punch from Thanos, but Wanda takes her down? >McAdams is now a supergenius? Oh, that's right, women in the MCU are always stronger, better, and smarter than men.
Bringing up Thanos makes me really annoyed
Strange can go 1v1 against a Thanos with multiple infinity stones at his disposal but the best he seems to be able to do now is get tossed around like an idiot
Magic in the mcu movies in general passes me off because they clearly are capable of thinking up and executing some pretty creative shit but they'll also turn around and go BEHOLD MY MAGICAL MIGHT AS I THROW A BALL AT THE ENEMY.
I can't help but imagine how the attack on the magic place would've gone if the punisher from the TV series was there >"Oh cool she's flying around and shit" *bang*
Because for some reason the brightest idea the sorcerers of the world have is fricking bows and arrows except the arrows are magic
>Strange controlling his dead corpse flying around with ghost wings from another universe was cool though
Honestly every good part on that movie is thanks to raimi. Yes I even liked the bruce cameo.

krasinski is a fantastic actor man, what are you saying?
I'll always hate the F4, reed especially. Especially with marvels weird ass intelligence circlejerk of >no no no, reed is literally the most smartest intelligent man ever in the entire universe! all those alien races and cosmetic entities? naw they're stupid compared to rubber man!
It would have been more fun if his daughter actually did shit, only because she exists as a giant frick you to reed and susan.
People wanted to see Doctor Strange 2. It turned into Scarlet Witch vs America Chavez with Doctor Strange doing some stuff on the side. That's why Phase 4 is ass. They don't commit to making the men badasses anymore like they did with Iron Man and Captain America, just pushing their femoid minority agendas.
The movie should've been Doctor Strange kicking her ass at the end because she's a crazy overemotional c**t. Instead he just feels weak and powerless. He's just a simp for Christine and then a cheerleader for America Chavez.
If he was powerful enough to kick her ass, the movie would have ended pretty early. Nobody defeated her except herself, which was pretty fitting considering they kept trying to "redeem" wanda, but it would have felt shitty to let her off completely scott free.
They are the writer, they can do whatever they want. Just like Captain America getting buffed like crazy at times. Like Stan Lee makes this point. Doctor Strange could kick her ass, you just have to do the legwork if you want it to happen. They didn't want to let Strange be badass. Instead he's just laying on the ground watching the entire fight.
Weaker characters beat stronger ones all the time, they overcome the odds constantly. Again, you're not getting what Stan Lee was saying. You're the writer, that's entirely up to you to decide who wins. Making Strange lie on the ground and cheerlead was moronic feminist bullcrap you'd expect from Phase 4.
>If a girl gives flash a pep talk its feminism ruining superheroes! >If a man gives a girl a pep talk its feminism ruining superheroes! >If a girl exists on the screen and isn't being raped then its feminism ruining superheroes!
They went out of their way to portray Strange as a cold, calculating character who will sacrifice anyone to accomplish his plans. The real Strange would have blown Wanda's ass through a time portal, and locked her unhinged ass in a temporal prison, like the one he created for his magic book. And killed Chavez or let her die to get it done.
They have completely gutted the character to promote a character that is now presumed dead, and a teenager. Woo. Much great writing. A Strange/Scarlet Witch confrontation should have been an End Game final battle sized event, but nooooo.
I didn't hate it, it wasn't one of the better films but it could have been done much better.

I liked it. And I think it's comical that Marvelgays and Capeshit haters are both arguing the opposites
>Too much multiverse/cameo bullshit! >Not enough multiverse/cameo bullshit!
I enjoyed it, but I also didn't go into it being a baby b***h. I don't like the MCU and haven't seen one outside of that last Spider-Man in several years. Nor their shows (as if lmao). I went to see this purely because Sam Raimi, whose work I admire, was directing a movie again. I knew it wasn't going to be on the level of Spider-Man or most of his career highlights in being an MCU movie, but on a base level "Doctor Strange" and "Sam Raimi" is a great combo. I went in expecting a typical MCU flick but with some Raimi flair and I actually got what I think is one of the better movies of their catalogue.
>The threat is taken seriously >There's actual stakes >Visually fun and creative >They don't undercut emotional beats with jokes >The magic is actually inventively portrayed rather than just glowing wire-frame shields and lasers >Raimi takes every opportunity he can to troll or piss off Marvel fanboys >Doctor Strange has an actually interesting character arc that mirrors Wanda's own >It's unafraid to be goofy, sincere and saccharine >Despite tying into other movies and a TV series it's easily understandable and followable as a standalone.
I never saw Wandavision and never will. I understood perfectly what was going on.
It's got flaws, it's not Raimi's best by a long shot and there's a lot to nitpick. But overall? This was a blast and easily one of the best movies from this whole exhausting franchise.
failed as spectacle: nothing in Strange's fight scenes were more visually creative than when he fought Thanos on Titan. Most of the interesting magic was done by Wanda. Strange went from making astral shadow clones and hurling the mirror dimension against Thanos to barely being able to tango with some Shuma-Gorath clone. The musical fight scene is divisive. Strange being hurled through the multiverses was 'decent' but something we had already seen and better played out in the first Strange film when he first gets to Kamar-Taj.
If Scott Derrickson was given enough creative liberty to actually have made the horror film that he wanted to, we would have gotten something that could have felt like a breath of fresh air rather than more of the same. Not even going to talk about the plot which was absolutely run of the mill. The potential of this film was neutered the second the guy with the OG vision was axed.
>Wong, the """""Sorcerer Supreme""""" >Can't fly
I dunno. Maybe this is just a minor point that bothered me more than it should have, but don't these two seem kinda weak to be the Sorcerer Supreme? They can't even fly? Maybe it just bothered me because Wong was just kinda dangling helplessly off of the side of the cliff for most of the finale.
Don't even get me started on Wong. Could be a great character. The actor is perfect. The Sorcerer Supreme is supposed to be incredlbly powerful, like the Ancient One and Strange, but he's barely able to take on a couple of monsters who don't do more than throw rocks at him.
Complete waste of a character. I guess since their "pander to chinese audiences" didn't play out like expected, they'll just sideline any asian characters now.
But it's pretty standard now, powers of characters change according to the needs of the (poorly written) scripts. Feige allowed it all to get out of control. Feige is single handedly tanking a trillion dollar franchise.
>dude let's put the shittest character in it as the villain >dude let's cuck the hero for a pointless woke wedding >dude let's quippipdy qquip every 5 seconds >dude my two mom's >dude let's add some little Hispanic who cant act >dude let's pay 2 dollars for the cgi >dude let's make it as boring as possible >dude let's put black captain marvel in there for no reason so she can do her finna "acting" >dude let's make it a shit bollywood flick >dude buy our funkopopz
It's been over 20 years of cape shit movies of different IPs, shit gets tiresome and we got saturated by it. Maverick isn't even an original concept, it's literally a sequel and it was entertaining due to not being cape shit.
All we need is entertainment that isn't cape shit or anything that has Hollywood suits all over it, that's why Korean movies are great
>NOOOoooooOOOOOOooo the heckin battle should've been epicarino. It should've been just as lame and unimaginative as Thanos v Strange!
Infinity War was a terrible movie and that fight was lame. The only cool part was the butterflies and the bit where Doctor Strange multiplies. The character conflicts in this movie had more weight and the magic was much more interestingly conceived.
I liked it and despite Everything Everywhere being a better exploration of the concept (and an all around better movie) I think this managed to do things with the concept that it didn't do and I dug that.
>Dreams are actually glimpses at your parallel lives
I just like how goofy that is.
>Strange is unhappy and nobody likes him. Exploring the multiverse gives him a chance to see how different his life could be if he made different choices. >Instead every other version of him is shitty and makes the same frick-ups which usually leads to something bad happening.
I dig his existential crisis of >Am I just inherently shitty? Am I doomed to ruin things for myself and everyone?
The only good part of this entire slog was the zombie Strange sequence. Everything else was a boring waste of time. This was a 2 hour movie that felt like 3 hours.
If they were going to get a big name celebrity like Bruce Campbell they really should have given him some more screen time. I mean, I'm glad that they finally brought him into the MCU, but his scene in the movie and the post credits stinger didn't really do anything to set up the fact that the MCU is joining the larger Bruce Campbell cinematic universe.
They really should have tacked on the announcement of "Bruce Campbell vs the Avengers"
Exactly, he's really one of the only people around that they could bring in to up the stakes. Nobody else has that kind of gravitas and name recognition to feel like a legitimate threat.
Disney would never be able to afford the rights to do it properly anyway. Do you know how much of the budget of Bruce Campbell vs Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness went to securing Bruce Campbell's involvement and that without the rights to his chainsaw which I understand has a lot of complicated riders in its contract.
must have had a lot of production problems, the movie was awfully put together. Also Everything Everywhere did the multiverse much better.
DS2 was just an CGI fest from start to end.
I ironically enjoyed it. Raimi's put almost all of his classic tropes into one movie and made it look good. I don't care if the writing is shit. I don't care they shilled another show I won't watch. It was a legit 7/10. I'm glad I didn't go to the theater though, wouldn't pay 10 bucks for that.
not enough wanda screentime

Could've just cut out that Ms.Americana girl and made it a spell she was seeking out instead.

loki is actually really good too tbqh. Really fun show, totally elevated by Owen Wilson/Hiddleston chemistry
Loki is shit. They gutted their own lore and emasculated a great character.
>emasculated a great character.
Loki is emasculated in every single appearance because he's a narcissistic buffoon and seeing him put in his place is part of the appeal.
No, it's not,. That's your autism.
he's literally written as the most palatable kind of narcissist, one that isn't really one and can change. But he's still written as one, because he was originally a villain.

thanks to the star girl

gee I wonder who was in control of this movie
Holy shit this thread is fricking cringe. Go outside for frick sake.
>WARES MY HECKIN EPIC MAGICRINO MARVELSISTERS
as a marvelsister I enjoy in your tears
Harder, manbaby! More salt! More salt!
not going full cosmic horror
"multiverse" theme only traveling to another universe that its practically the same as their own.
Everything everywhere did way better and above that
I liked it and despite Everything Everywhere being a better exploration of the concept (and an all around better movie) I think this managed to do things with the concept that it didn't do and I dug that.
I dig his existential crisis of
>Am I just inherently shitty? Am I doomed to ruin things for myself and everyone?
Marvel executives and producers fiddling, unironically.
If Raimi had full control, this would turn into a classic horror scholock
the multiverse was a mistake
The only good part of this entire slog was the zombie Strange sequence. Everything else was a boring waste of time. This was a 2 hour movie that felt like 3 hours.
If they were going to get a big name celebrity like Bruce Campbell they really should have given him some more screen time. I mean, I'm glad that they finally brought him into the MCU, but his scene in the movie and the post credits stinger didn't really do anything to set up the fact that the MCU is joining the larger Bruce Campbell cinematic universe.
They really should have tacked on the announcement of "Bruce Campbell vs the Avengers"
I'm really disappointed Disney made Raimi cut this scene. Pizza Poppa had a lot of potential to become the next Thanos level event villain.
Exactly, he's really one of the only people around that they could bring in to up the stakes. Nobody else has that kind of gravitas and name recognition to feel like a legitimate threat.
Why are you teasing me with thoughts of an Army of Darkness versus Marvel Zombies movie that will never happen?
Disney would never be able to afford the rights to do it properly anyway. Do you know how much of the budget of Bruce Campbell vs Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness went to securing Bruce Campbell's involvement and that without the rights to his chainsaw which I understand has a lot of complicated riders in its contract.
It's capeshit, literally made for lowest common denominators.
state diversity hiring mandates
must have had a lot of production problems, the movie was awfully put together. Also Everything Everywhere did the multiverse much better.
DS2 was just an CGI fest from start to end.
>have a multiverse setting
>don't use it at all
Hmm, where did we screw up?
Memory Store
I ironically enjoyed it. Raimi's put almost all of his classic tropes into one movie and made it look good. I don't care if the writing is shit. I don't care they shilled another show I won't watch. It was a legit 7/10. I'm glad I didn't go to the theater though, wouldn't pay 10 bucks for that.
It was a marketing campaign to introduce Ms Amsericana to promote her tv series.
I expected cool visual shit like in the first movie. Was disappointed.
i hope there's a america chavez spin-off, she was the best part, i liked her attitude
Every man in the movie was a jobber and the multiverse wasn't utilized well. All you got was some shitty cameos who got murdered easily anyway.
