Pretty much this. They did something different by making a Looney tunes movie. It's like the antithesis to Shrek, with minimal star power and no pop culture shit.

        >no pop culture shit
There was plenty of pop culture shit. It was just outdated pop culture shit instead of then present pop culture shit.

Not that anon, so Shrek is vastly better than Shrek 2. In fact, Shrek 2 is really mediocre.

Not that anon, and you're mostly likely bait posting, but I could not understand what made Shrek 2 better than Shrek. Then I realized, Shrek 2 had a better villain.
                >Cunning
                >Can work with with the hand she's dealt with
                >Constantly present throughout the film
                >Can actually hold her own in a fight
                >Can only be killed by her own power
                >Villain song is the best cover of Holding out for a Hero
                Vs. Lord Farqahad
                >Sits around while his knights, henchman, and Shrek, do all the work
                >Only present through the first and third acts
                >Gets eaten
                >Needed a theme park attraction to be good villain
                >No villain song

Farquaad is barely a villain. He's just a plot device. His actions are what cause Shrek, Donkey and Fiona to meet, and their relationships are the center of the movie.

The first Shrek doesn't have a lot of star power. Sequels are a different story tho.

And that's why the first Shrek is unique, unlike the sequels and spin-offs (except TLW, that one was great).

Weird how that last paragraph stops being impartial and suddenly the writer is writing in the first person and inserting their personal opinion. Other than that, the image is nicely informative.

Because the fact is that Emperor's New Groove is a good movie but the production was horribly managed. This isn't an opinion.

I'm probably one of the few people who'll say this, but ditching Kingdom of the Sun to create Emperor's New Groove was the best possible outcome for us. As described here Kingdom of the Sun was a cluttered mess that would have been a boring experience to watch. You can't mesh 4 seperate major plot points and assume things will just congeal by the end without issue. The execs made the right choice killing Aller's idea. It was frankly a mess. Shame we lost Sting's original score though.

You know what would be funny? If Moana reached South America in the sequel and it looked just like this.

Having Moana interact with Kuzco would probably be one of the biggest viral moments for Disney even if its just for a moment to serve as a montage of them being frustrated that there are no new lands left to conquer
Maui fighting a old god from that culture would also be pretty kick ass for young boys to watch

I really liked it, but I'm also biased because I lived on a couple of Pacific islands for like 8 years and I'm a boat autist. Moana herself though is the typical quirky Disney princess. I also agree with

Anyways, it's just a really tightly written script. If it was any less witty it might not have worked. Definitely was a huge gamble that managed to pay off. Can't say as much for Chicken Little.
