And people don't care about those movies because they haven't been hooked to their bait yet. The MCU operated under the sunken cost fallacy. People stayed for Endgame because they watched Iron Man and those other pre-Avengers movies years ago. Now Iron Man is dead and Captain America is retired. They have no reason to stick around for post-Endgame MCU because they're no longer invested in anything that happens afterwards.

Most people don't even buy comics anymore, the industry is held up by licensing their legacy characters to sell toys, clothes, food, etc and collectors who buy every variant cover there is and put them straight into their vaults.

As far as I know, theatres make most of their profit from food sales, not from ticket sales.
I've also heard that some studios can be overly controlling dipshits about telling you how to run your theatre if you want to be allowed to show their movies
Marvel movies have to be shown for minimum X weeks on multiple screens, even if viewership has tapered off and it's costing the business money

The entire state of the industry is ass right now and not worth paying for movie outings, but I'll stand up for the theatres on this one

Captain Marvel 2 was so fricking bad it's unreal
Black Widow's movie was maybe ok? But who cares? What was the point other than to setup another setup flick with the anti-heroes?
      Secret Invasion was DOG SHIT
Loki season 1 was pretty decent but season 2 was extremely shit except for the last episode which did not make up for it.
      She Hulk fricking disaster.

I'm not an incel and I'm not allergic to women so miss me with all that, these are just the facts. Has this strategy paid off for them?

      Untrue.

They could give us more Captain America doing Captain America stuff or more Iron-Man doing Iron-Man stuff.

But they decided to ditch them and then replace them with bootleg equivalents with ZERO charisma and presence and ability and we're supposed to pretend we don't care and don't notice.

This Mackie guy looks like a tertiary character in some random story AT BEST, not a leading man material. He doesn't look convincing as anything.
Meanwhile Bucky, who WAS available for the role and would fit perfectly, was reduced to some bit role and his entire character wasted on nothing.

Also, Infinity War and Endgame already raised the stakes about as high as you can get before you kinda tune out and stop caring. Dr. Strange could work, but they cucked him in dozens of ways. His love interest married a literal Black person in a multicultural wedding. The doomsday plot was a thankyou distraction. He finds out he gets cucked in every universe. He has to raise a beaner gay that comes from lesbians. He's not the sorcerer supreme for some moronic reason. He doesn't marry and give children to Wanda. Instead he tries to take his anger out on a black man, and when that's not enough, he takes it out on himself. And when that's not enough, he takes out out on his dead self.

Thor goes through similar humiliation. A Black person child can wield the king's axe, and he has to raise a non-white child from another man. The kids boss him around and tell him to address them by their chosen name instead of the name their father chose for them.

No one wants to see a movie about some Z-List loser like Shang-Chi or the Eternals instead of the characters they had actually cared about for the last 2 decades. Plus Endgame was literally endgame. It tied up literally every story thread and loose end, gave all the characters closure, defeated the central villain, and had the highest stakes possible. The story was done. There's nothing else to tell. No one cares about what happens next. It was a definite ending and everyone knew that and jumped off.

You're wrong on this; there are bigger threats than Thanos but they just didn't have the right tools to find a way to navigate how to show this. The Eternals was a massive bomb but it was supposed to show that there are bigger threats out there than some purple haired dork with a muscle vest who wants to snap half of all life away.

Marvel went full arrogance phase and diehard fans went full defense force which drove normal people away. WandaVision was the first post-Endgame material and the whole vibe surrounding it was disappointment, uncertainty of the future, and cope. It was the start of a years-long trend of falling short, fan theories being 10 times cooler than what we got, and dead end attempts to branch out like Eternals. Phase Four was shockingly bad because it was supposed to be the big comeback, but I don't think Phase Five is surprising anyone by being so limp. At this point 90% of people have accepted that the good old days are over and they're not coming back.

A few minor bumps aide, the MCU worked with Swiss precision all the way up to Endgame regardless of how one feels about the material. That savvy and foresight was completely absent at the end. Let's adapt a storyline about the Avengers getting infiltrated by evil shape-shifting aliens, and only include one Avenger. I wonder which Avenger is going to be an evil shape-shifting alien, could it be the only Avenger in this show? Writing was also ass, and there was no indication before this show that War Machine was ever a Skrull.

Apparently Punisher is going to be killing racist cops, because Marvel are still seething that a couple of idiot cops put the Punisher logo on their cars. I have a feeling this show won't be as good as the Netflix series.
    >Captain America
They've also had to do multiple reshoots for this movie because apparently test audiences hate the villains. No Steve Rogers, no Bucky, no Zemo. But this movie does have Hulk villains, and a pro-Israel superhero. I'm sure the movie will do wonderfully.
    >Thunderbolts

I think the biggest problem is how they haven't addressed the most simple of issues.

    >where are the Avengers
    >who's in the Avengers
    >what are they doing

There really should have been more discussions about who's going to be the new leader with Cap and Iron Man both gone. We had a Thor movie and a small part of the GotG movie where someone could have asked Thor why he was fricking off around in the universe instead of leading his team. You've had some pretty serious threats like a reality bender like Wanda taking over a whole town, and no one considered asking the Avengers for help. Falcon gets a mini series about becoming Captain America, leadership of the Avengers is never mentioned.

What they should have done is shown the Avengers were in a really bad shape as the major theme of phase 4. Their two figureheads Captain America and Iron Man were gone. Thor and Captain Marvel leaving to do their own thing. The power vacuum that the Avengers left behind becomes the direct cause of the creation of the Young Avengers. Phase 5 should be the creation of the Thunderbolts, because the government doesn't trust the Young Avengers to be responsible enough and shit. Phase 6 is when the big villain, Kang or whoever, finally shows his face to the public and everyone becomes aware of his existence. Wrap the multiverse saga up with the creation of the new, Multiverse Avengers. Kang is defeated, but because of some frick up, the main universe changes, queuing up the X-Men for the next saga.

MCU has story arcs and is still building something, but they've decided to shove out a bunch of craps without really thinking how it works in the long run other than vaguely building towards a multiverse war.

I always thought that a tv show supplementing a movie universe wasn’t that bad of an idea. Like Green Arrow from the tv show showing up as the DCEU’s Green Arrow for the Justice League would have been a neat idea. But seeing how the Disney+ shows turned out, now I don’t know. Maybe it’s the fact that there’s way too many Disney+ shows and the only show you would have theoretically had to watch was Arrow. I know technically there were other Arrowverse shows, but for the sake of argument let’s just say Green Arrow and maybe Flash were the only tv shows you had to follow.

Making it so you have to follow the Disney+ shows to understand what the movies were about was a big mistake. Too many female centric projects lost the male audience and with them their girlfriends. All youre left with are ultra nerds/betas and autists. DC at least still follows the main characters

Bad transition, they needed Xmen and Fantastic Four but they prefer adding some Who characters. TV shows was a mistake, covid affected too. Spiderman gave them a good start but they ruined everything with those new characters. They only have GOTG, they need to explore the marvel universe with Nova Corps, even they can add ghost rider in space with Kino Cage and making a transition with Gosling (at the end of the day, Ghost Rider can recover all his face after flames).

That's the point though. They wanted to not care about capeshit movies, so they ruined them to free themselves.

The movies suck and the people making them don't understand, or care, what made the first ones good.
