The focus on the freelancers was the shift that killed RvB. In the past, it was always hinted at, and treated kind of mysteriously, but the show was about the Reds and Blue, not the freelancers. After Wash joined the main cast, the Reds and Blues became the side show, and that was the end.
I have the original 6 DVDs from GameStop. That's all the RvB that exists as far as I'm concerned.

And since RT always hired from the community, the new community was comprised of toxic, talentless anime kids.
All of the OG talent became “project leaders”, CEOs, etc., and pawned off all of the writing and actual creative work to the dumb anime kids who turned everything into shitty tumblr fan fiction. Meanwhile, those same kids brought their own friends instead of hiring professionally, and these all these young, woke kids hated the old Gen X RT OGs and set about stirring up drama over shit that they claimed to like back when they were “fans”.
Couple all this with the Ryan Heywood situation and Burnie selling the company to a huge corporation, and that’s certain death.
Part of what made RT so special was that it was made up (partially) of people who would have been typical Hollywood types, but whom stumbled upon something special and stuck with it. But their own success killed them, because once they got big enough to start acting like Hollywood, they did.

Then Doc starts standing up for himself, and other red/blue teams finally get start revenge on Project Freelancer for using them as living target practice for the better part of a decade.
Then, for some reason, Grif does a complete 180, and both he and Doc come crawling back like they were totally wrong for doing something smart for a change. And all of the other red and blue teams are dismissed as bad guys and killed off for having the gall to stand up for themselves. I’ve never see so much potential turned into such a shit show.
