Why did the Milestone relaunch flop and why don't any of the Milestone characters/teams get an ongoing?

I hope someone at DC Black Label takes a second look.

They didn’t get aaron McGrudder to write icon, so there wasn’t any way they were going to do the character justice.

    Icon vs Hardware is good

Because there's only one Milestone character anyone actually cares about and Static just isn't as special anymore.

Most of them were terrible. Any small ounce of nuance or storytelling the original Milestone books are gone. I think Icon was the worst, the original series explained Icon's origin in 4 pages with no dialogue but in the reboot it's 8 pages with dialogue.

Everything Milestone takes fricking forever to come out, to the point that the people that wanted this reboot most likely lapsed out of western comics by the time it came out.

the world is different now in a lot of ways
and i'm not referring to political talking points, just that hip hop culture and gang culture and street culture were at the heart of all milestone comics and those things don't exist anymore
hip hop is filled with soft spoiled rich kids, gang culture has been all but disappeared outside of prisons, ghettos all over the country have been gentrified, all the things that made milstone what it was are anachronistic these days

How so at least for the hip hop part most of these homies come straight from SoundCloud and gang culture just isn’t as prominent anymore

    That's racist.

I wish they’d use Kwai and Dusk.
Kwai is basically Asian female Shazam.
Dusk is Puerto Rican Stephanie Brown

Milestone comics sucked back in the 90s, now the creators are even worse. The editor Marquis Draper is a token hire who doesn't read any comics that don't star black people and is incredibly bad at his job, working for Chris Conroy a homosexual who hates comics. The Milestone initiative chose to not get any talented writers, including Cheryl Lynn Eaton an ugly fat nig who wrote a Tom King Batman back-up story already because she is a whiny fat nig lady who hates all white people, or artists to be mentored by these two idiots. This reboot is also brough to us by Hudlin, the man who ruined Boondocks, Black Panther and devised a plan to steal Milestone from Dwayne McDuffie's widow at his funeral.

It was a dishonest attempt to cash in on the current wave of black appeasement, the complete opposite of what the original Milestone was meant to be. It had nothing to say that wasn't already being said by every other comic concerning race relations, and they couldn't even do the base level work of making the comics entertaining.

I like Static, Icon, Rocket and Hardware.
Duo’s a new take on Xombi.
I was hoping to see creators make new solo characters as well.

I feel they think most of their audience are holdovers from the 2000s Static Shock cartoon.

I also hope they focus outside of Dakota like with Shadow Cabinet.

Reginald Hudlin sucks. Also, the primary consumer is still a white male and race relations are a billion times worse than the early 90's. This shit is never gonna sell unless the creators can somehow thread the needle of authenticity without completely alienating the primary consumer. Maybe focus on the adventure and use the sociology as thematic dressing.

Unironically all the characters are ugly, not even racist I've had sex with two black girls
