In all honestly it never felt like they had confidence in the character at all. It went from being an inexplicable buddy movie with Cyborg to "just do Flashpoint but worse". Like at no point did they think Flash could carry a movie on his own and that was a red flag.
>It went from being an inexplicable buddy movie with Cyborg
to be fair, cyborg did frick his career in moronic fashion and get himself blacklisted
What did he do?
Called out the Joss Whedon and Warner bros. for treating him badly.
All unfounded and he burned every bridge he had
bitched about racisim. Demanded NOT to do the Booyah line.
What cyborg do?
Booyah
just get's to show what kind of shitshow these movies actually were.
Doesn't matter. He had no reason to be in a Flash movie to begin with. Give us Jay or Wally or Bart or frick even Max. Give us the Rogues. Barry has frick all to do with Cyborg. MAYBE if it were Wally you could play up a Teen Titans angle but otherwise why are they in the same movie? Because they're young-ish?
They made Into the Batverse and titled it Flash for some damn reason.
you didn't watch the movie because if you did you'd know that makes no sense when keaton is only in it a short amount of time compared to Flash
Not that it really explains the story decision but it looks like Fisher was claiming Cyborg's role was cut or cut down in the Flash as part of his dispute with DC before filming even started?
https://variety.com/2021/film/news/ray-fisher-confirms-removal-from-the-flash-cast-warner-bros-1234885053/
Here's what happened
>new Flash script gets written that includes a small Cyborg cameo (less screentime than previous scripts)
>Fisher even met personally with Andy
>but WB was gonna pay him less than he wanted
>so all of a sudden he starts accusing Warner of abuse/racism on the set of Justice League
>Warner defends their investigation results that didn't find anything he claimed
>Ray tweets this
>Warner responds
>“Last summer, Mr. Fisher was offered the opportunity to reprise his role as Cyborg in ‘The Flash,'” WarnerMedia said in a statement. “Given his statement that he will not participate in any film associated with Mr. Hamada, our production is now moving on.”
and he's been b***hing about it since pretending to be a victim, all because he wanted more money
Imagine taking the side of Walter Hamada.
You forgot the part about the microwave.
But he's in the movie?
as a single line of dialogue and webpage
oh
Isn't the while point of this movie to be a reset button?
Very good points.
When I saw the trailers, it felt like 'we know you don't care about The Flash, but we also have Batman and other characters so go watch this!'.
I honestly don't know. It was a pretty good movie
lol
It was though. It rarely took itself seriously
That's the problem, these characters are joke to the director.
people are getting tired of that.
The Road rip off
How the frick does it at all rip off the fricking road you absolute moron
Next your gonna tell me it ripped off the Last of us
And Joker is a Taxi Driver rip-off.
You know what those movies have in common though? They are both better than The Flash, so maybe ripping things off isn't that much of a problem.
what's wrong in taking things seriously?
You can make a silly fun film while also making it meaningful.
It was meaningful. It had a powerful theme of family and love and the ending scene with Nora was extremely moving.
I swear to god no one on Cinemaphile has actually watched this and is just shitting on it like Twitter is
I cried.
Keep your fricking Youtube comment to yourself. Next you tell us your grandma died from reading a Flash comic and you miss her very much.
Are you okay? Why the hostility?
His grandma died from reading a flash comic.
I cried laughing, because it boils down to a crying schizo in stolen clothes hugging a woman with emotional music playing in the background. Also he steals a can of tomatoes
The Flash has plenty of serious character moments, from Barry getting mad at Barry in the batcave, Keaton giving real advice, Barry getting back his powers, and the scene at the end in the grocery store. The action tended towards silly, though.
I loved the kitchen scene
Was it the greatest super hero movie ever?
It was okay at best, them keeping normal Barry from having his powers for so long felt kind of dull, and the fact that it's a Flash movie and it's more about his AU version and Batman than him is really dumb.
Speaking of the movie itself, Keaton, normal Barry, and Kara were easily the best part, and Keaton and Kara were both wasted in the end which felt like crap while normal Barry at least managed to be the best part. There was almost no reason to have Iris, his work, or his AU work buddies in AU Barry's room. That all felt like padding for the sake of it.
Another really bad part is that I fully believe they won't bring back Kara again when she was on screen for a whole two minutes or so. I was honestly expecting Zoom was the big bad, I really was.
It's absolutely bombing, the trailer alone looked exactly like Ms. Marvel's first two episodes but with a cast I hate and never want to see more of.
same
Ezra must have some god-tier blackmail of him getting raped by DC executives or some shit for them to still push this movie out.
Have no idea why this wasn't shelved after all his bullshit.
Sunk cost fallacy perhaps?
Sucking wieners phallusy more like.
That along with troon and tribe protection.
this
They started and completed filming in 2021, and then locked down contracts for movie theaters and licensors
By the time Ezra was getting into controversies in 2022 it was too late to pull out probably because licensors were already in the process of making the toys and stuff
Remember, the movie was originally supposed to be out in summer 2022 but COVID and then the Discovery takeover and other things delayed it
too much money. You can't just reshoot a movie when your main character plays two characters and both are on the screen a majority of the time, especially for a movie that was already more expensive than it should have been and whose original release date was 2018. They spent years and a shit ton of money making the movie, if they recast they would have had to throw everything away and the movie probably wouldn't be ready till like 2026 or some shit.
Probably more expensive to breach the contract with Ezra Miller and cut him out of future movies than it would be to just keep him in, they thought... and then he lost them hundreds of millions lmao
Erza being a psychopath led people to not want to support the movie alongside capeshit fatigue.
>nobody outside of twitter cares about ezra miller, and those outside of twitter are going to be wondering why he still works after that time he took a family hostage or some such equally moronic druggie bullshit
>nobody cared about the snyderverse, and so nobody is going to care about the reboot
>nobody gives a shit about the flash
>why bother seeing a movie that ties into shit nobody else bothered to see
Unless you’re already a DC drone there’s really no reason to go out of your way to see this. If you’ve got kids, you’re taking them to see the new spiderverse if they want superheroes.
all in all they should’ve just called it a loss when the snyderverse imploded but clearly WB was slick-talked into doing reshoots to try and salvage this shitshow so we’re left with a movie that should’ve been dumped into theatres 5 years ago limping out and basically having nothing going for it to draw anybody that wasn’t already a fan in.
This, Warner has managed to make their audience apathetic towards their movies.
Dundun DOUBLE! Dundun EZRA!
Gf and i watched it, bcs of the decent to good reviews and were entertained for nearly the whole movie.
Had some dips in the Wayne house, but rest of it is was great fun for us. And my gf didnt really want to watch it before.
And for me, the "eastereggs" at the end were great. I basedfaced unironically.
you don't have a gf
she's fat
The Snyderverse not being retired after Justice League. It was barely holding together up until the logical end point for that slate of ideas and had no business continuing to exist when a pause on DC movies would have allowed writers and visual artists to come up with something genuinely genre defining while getting rid of all the Snyder era baggage like Ezra.
The problem was they already had WW2 (which became Wonder Woman 1984; at the time Justice League bomb they didn't think WW84 would be a disaster) and Aquaman 2 in the pipeline so they were reluctant to get rid of everything
That was why in the original ending for The Flash before Zaslav took over WB, it was gonna end with Superman not existing and Supergirl basically filling his role in the new timeline, and Batfleck replaced with Keaton
Keaton would be training Batgirl as a successor and just make cameos across other post-Flash DC films; Batgirl would be the primary Bat-character in the New DCEU. The plan was, the new trinity would be Supergirl, Batgirl, and Wonder Woman.
Then Zaslav came in and threw that plan out the window but couldn't stop the Flash film
1984 had pro-Commie anti-America anti gun themes
More like what didn't go wrong.
When you spend 300 mil, you kinda have to try.
If only to lose slightly less.
It's goofy as shit, and not in a good way. Someone posted the babies falling out of the hospital last night and that scene was so god damn stupid with no tension at all.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Flash_(film)
>Principal photography began on April 19, 2021,[122] at Warner Bros. Studios, Leavesden, in England,[113][114] under the working title Baby Shower.[123]
You JUST KNOW it was Ezra's idea.
yes because it was played for comedy.
But it wasn't funny. And it wasn't tense. So what was the point.
It worked in the movie, it was completely innocuous if silly so I don't get what the outrage is about
Is he in jail or still coasting on 'rich people have different laws'?
https://lmgtfy.app/?q=is+ezra+miller+in+jail
child groomers die
The fact that this came out and Ezra is not punished at all proves that there's no such thing as getting cancelled for the rich
I think everyone's waiting to see what happens to Ezra after the movie finishes its run
If he remains as the new Flash in the Gunn DCEU (and I don't mean the media claiming it; media claimed that the Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern was totally going to get a sequel; I mean like he's shown on set and being filmed for the movie) then you'd be correct
That doesn't mean shit. Gunn is recasting everyone except his favorites (aka the people he personally cast like Cena)
problem is you want someone punished for unproven shit you read on Cinemaphile, not actual wrongdoing
he was only actually charged with a misdemeanor and the punishment for that is typically probation and fines only for anyone, rich or not
I wish DC is the one that got big instead of Marvel. A connecting DC universe would've been much better than the MCU, because I like the characters more.
Instead WB created a pile of shit
People even nor.ies know about ezra and they want nothing to do with him. Hollyisraelite will keep pretending it never happened.
Real question is how bad will pic rel bomb
>ironman-like
is fricking over
Probably spectacularly, but I could see it gain a cult following if it's actually okay.
it will be one of the biggest bombs of all time
and I hate to say this as I love Jaime and I think it looks decent, but I can't envision a universe where people show up for this
>extremely bad CGI
>noone knows him, casual plebs are puzzled
>what they DO know though is how hard scenes in the trailers stole from Iron Man 1
>trailer barely contains information about conflict or villain
>"Let's go family!" approach we've seen before with Shazam so it's not fresh either.
This will underperform them all, I tell you. Hell, watching this trailer in cinema over and over and over again made me hate the entire genre. They might kill any interest before the reboot even starts.
It doesn't even have a controversy!
No fricking rapist main actor. No LGTBQ discussion so far. Noone got race- or genderswapped. The Russians haven't even made up a trans controversy yet!
How can they do marketing when there's nothing in it to piss anyone off? Hell not even the Egypts were triggered considering his powers are from Egypt. And you can trigger ALL of Egypt with a single documentary that might get your main actress murdered one day because that's what sand people do.
a POC murdering someone for raceswapping/blackwashing sounds based though
At least this is low budget, no? Shit it was made do streaming... They may be able to break even with low sales
>unapologetically Latinx
Yeah, crashing and burning real fast.
>NOO ITS MUH INTERNALIZED LATINO HOWAITO SUPREMACY THAT MADE THIS MOVIE FLOP NOOOO
It deserves to lose money.
Jaime deserves better and unfortunately it looks like a Disney Channel movie
I was into it until the weird fascist comment in the trailer.
It was supposed to be a joke but their were audible “what”s in the theater at that line drop. And then people were cheering for all the Batman shit during the Flash. It was funny.
Otherwise it was completely silent aside from the moron next to me who was explaining stuff wrong to his girlfriend.
realistically it will make less but it still won't be as much of a bomb as Flash because the budget.
People like Cobra Kai and it has that kid, it might do decent.
has a movie ever recovered from a initial weak opening? i just want my girl to succeed. i'll never forgive gunn and ezra for ruining her big break.
Puss in Boots 2 is proof that positive word of mouth can save any shit opening. But the baby microwave film isn't getting that.
Puss in Boots 2 opened during a period of very bad weather in large portions of the UA. It's a legit excuse for a poor opening. Plenty of people who were interested in seeing it stayed off the roads and saw it the next week.
she really is fricking hot
Outside of very rare cases like Puss in Boots 2 the very best you can hope for is doing well in streaming or physical media(lol).
You can say "allegedly" if you'd like, but it's not like he's the only actor who openly discussed having a bad experience with Joss Whedon. He's not even the only actor who had a bad time on Joss' Justice League.
On the one hand, once you've seen the Snyder Cut you know he has a legitimate point in being salty about how much his role was cut down in the Whedon version of the movie. On the other hand, his issues with Whedon seem to stem more from Johns and Whedon wanting him to say his character's catchphrase in the movie, and Whedon trolling him when he thought he could refuse to say his lines. Without being there, it's impossible to know whether this was done in the spirit of good natured banter or bullying as he's portrayed it. But making yourself known as someone who refuses to say his lines isn't going to help his career.
I'm surprised they let him keep the role after the endless hit pieces saying he's a pedo
I genuinely think it would've done better.. had they not announced they're scrapping the whole thing and rebooting it with Gunn. Why the frick would you go see a non-conclusive capeshit movie whose universe is being wiped due to production side frickery? Same issue with Dark Phoenix, literally zero reason to care after the Disney buyout.
It's called The Flash. Why are there a Batmen, a Supergirl and two Ezra Millers in The Flash's introductory movie? That is what went wrong.
They hired a creepy little homosexual who can't run to play the flash
why does he run so weird in all the footage I've seen? is it a result of the slow-mo?
he's set up on wires and is suspended in air, he's not actually shot in slow motion, he's miming running in slow motion.
These last few DC movies come across as if WB is making them out of obligation to ego rather than any creative drive. They make them just to convince themselves they were competitors with Disney, at least when Disney was doing well. Now they seem to be competing on which company could lose money faster.
As terrible as Zack Snyder's vision for the DCEU was, it was at least that, a vision. I'm actually looking forward to Gunn's vision. But these movies in between are irrelevant and frivolous.
flash actor is fricking ugly.
inside and out
Dude treats Hawaii like it's GTA 6
homosexual's still salty because Gunn told him to leave his mom's basement lol
>DCEU forgets they have no real audience
As usual
Snyder makes trash for streaming lol, what cinema?!
At least his fans watch his movies.
They had shit numbers in the theaters
Because they were released in select theaters domestically. Netflix doesn't do wide theatrical releases.
Dude weren't they running during the pandemic? No shit they ran badly. I watched exactly one movie in cinema during those 2 years.
Just incredible how much better the one by the German dude was.
>Went to see it today with my dad.
>Three people in the theater outside of us.
Admittedly we went into the subtitled version which was noticeably low for Spiderverse as well (Like, only a third full) but I've never experienced a theater that empty. We all also made the cleaning crew wait until the post-credits scene which was pretty funny since they were pacing around the lanes with no one in them but us.
Why are they so intent on trying to always make Batman look ineffective, insane, and an butthole when he's their biggest money-maker? Do normies truly like that joke?
relevant observation for speculation: there's currently a billionaire adventurer trapped and likely dying on the bottom of the ocean floor in a submersible and the most redditors had to say on the subject was some shit about how he he clearly suffers from main character syndrome.
Even without Ezra’s controversies I still think the guy looks creepy. Not surprised parents don’t want to take their kids to see him.
If they want to do another Flash movie with a new actor/hard reboot, they should adapt Year One.
>Standard origin story
>Turtle is a neat villain with a decent gimmick
>Time travel nonsense but isn't Flashpoint moronic
>Could easily rework the script to make Future/Old Barry into Jay Garrick if you wanted
God, Nora's actress was hot in this. Looked just like my Aunt
The cgi sucked, the ending sucked, and Ezra is a criminal mastermind. But the movie has good moments throughout and I can see a version of this very movie doing well like 6 years ago. Kara was cool, Keaton was cool, and Barry was funny. The stuff about coming to terms with the loss of his mother felt genuine and more grounded than most superhero movies, where the protagonist would usually be able to get to have their cake and eat it too.
I haven't seen the movie, but I have a genuine question, gringos. Why are people so hung up about whatever arrest he did. He can act, can't he? So why does it matter? All that should matter is whether or not his acting chops and take on the character are dogshit or not.
I mean if Matthew Broderick could kill that woman why is Kevin Spacey cancelled?
Because we really shouldn't support people that make HORRIBLE HORRIBLE decisions. It just makes it feel like they get away with whatever they did because they can act.
what horrible decisions did he make other than not seeking treatment sooner for his obvious mental illness?
you and others keep acting like he killed people, he did some dumb shit and acted like an ass like dozens of celebrities have
because they're moronic and believe half the rumors that ended up getting debunked later on
ask someone why they hate him and they'll be like "he kidnapped an entire church of orphans!!" and link you a bunch of insane clickbait
explain the native kid
https://screenrant.com/flash-movie-actor-ezra-miller-crimes-controversies-explained/
tl;dr she's not a kid, she was never kidnapped, and is an adult. despite lying about it to tabloids her parents tried to britney spears her with a conservatorship for coming out as a troony dyke who likes women. the entire time her parents were saying Ezra "kidnapped" her, she was hundreds of miles away and ezra was filming reshoots in california. and even before that, they were touring the US publicly with a large friend group working on music. Ezra's own mother was even helping her secure her own housing away from her parents.
it’s the stupidest shit ever, because what grooming took place when two adult people hang out and don’t have sex? if anyone was trying to control her it was the parents trying to force where she lived, all Ezra did was hang out before they parted ways.
>inb4 12 years old
yeah, Ezra met the entire family when she was 12 but never spent any time with her other than under the context of large group events with hundreds of people and other celebrities even. it wasn't until she reached out for help that they ended up hanging out, and that was for months up until June 2022, when the parents learned that she didn't want to move back home. only then did they start in with the grooming bullshit.
dude give up his career is over
you seem mad kids weren't actually molested or groomed or kidnapped, why?
the only one who is wrong is you homosexual
bro its over.
>fricking screenrant
>suspicious shilling
https://www.esquire.com/entertainment/movies/a39661626/ezra-miller-arrest-the-flash-dc/
> TMZ was the first outlet to report that Miller had been accused of grooming Tokata Iron Eyes since the latter was 12 years old. In court documents obtained by People, Iron Eyes's parents, Chase Iron Eyes and Sara Jumping Eagle, claimed that Miller has been manipulating their daughter for years, saying that Miller "took an immediate and apparently innocent liking" to Tokata. Even more, Case and Sara alleged that Miller gave Tokata marijuana, LSD, and alcohol as a teenager. In the court documents, they went on to claim that Miller, through the Quiet organization, offered to pay Tokata's college tuition. This past December, Tokata allegedly dropped out of school and later traveled to Vermont, New York City, Los Angeles, and Hawaii with Miller. Chase and Sara, in the complaint, added that Miller "uses violence, intimidation, threat of violence, fear, paranoia, delusions and drugs to hold sway over a young adolescent Tokata,"
>...
>“Insider has spoken with 14 people who had recent interactions with Miller in which the actor exhibited frightening emotional outbursts, carried firearms, or left them feeling unsafe. Some people said Miller sought out impressionable young women and nonbinary people whom they could isolate from their families and control. In some cases, Miller had sexual relations with these people.
>...
>In mid-August, Variety obtained a long-overdue statement from Miller, via a representative of the actor. “Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment,” Miller said. “I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.”
why are you linking old articles? yes TMZ reported on the initial court filing, but it was later thrown out
https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2022/09/inside-ezra-millers-dark-spiral-messiah-delusions
>The tribal court put a temporary order in place, but ultimately dismissed the request for a permanent one
it's literally been over for months
The esquire article from which these are quotes is a synopsis that is six days old, same as the screenrant. I think we have different definitions of over as this is apparently a pattern for ol Ezzy.
not really, since the only other accusation is directly linked to the first. the father reached out to some woman and her kid who met him in passing a handful of times since she happened to live next door to one of Ezra's bandmates. she went to dailybeast and sold them a story based on a court document that no one has actually seen, and that NBCNews said didn't even contain any allegations. she basically claimed Ezra waved a gun around in her face in February 2022, and then waits until June 2022 to say anything to the media. then Whitney who was there that night in February leaks DM's that show the mother was actively still trying to invite herself over to Miller's house just 5 days prior.
it's a lot of bullshit based on gossiping women and no actual proven criminality, just demented projection
there is at least one other accusation from iceland (and that's not even getting into the choking).
there's an unsubstantiated accusation in a Business Insider article with no actual identifiable victim that god only knows is true, anyone can accuse a person of anything or pretend to be anyone when you preface it all with "allegedly" or "reportedly", means there's no proof. these journalists know that and they take gleeful pride in writing bullshit about famous people.
in addition for that article specifically we also know the journalist blatantly twisted the words of certain people that they talked to fit a narrative.
>a time of intense crisis
I'm sure someone smarter than me can figure out how to make a witty joke with this.
https://www.boston.com/news/entertainment/2022/06/20/ezra-miller-protection-order-massachusetts/
Ezra Miller gets creepy around kids and makes a habit of it, frick their weirdo ass.
see:
Plus you didn't even read this article it literally says
>does not contain any allegations against Miller, NBC News reported.
Now explain to us why a mother would be "scared" of Ezra around her kid when just 5 days prior to going to the media she was still trying to...get Ezra to be around her kid. How do you not see how that's a retaliatory bad faith accusation? What kid is in danger except one from being exploited by their mom for a media circus?
Do you really walk around with defenses for every controversy and offense Ezra Miller has committed memorized? Do you work for Ezra or just suck his dick for free?
Ezragay is literally a member of his sex cult who’s sole job is to defend him online
so its both. got it.
>He can act, can't he?
I'll believe it when I see it, and I haven't found a reason to see any movie he's in yet.
So let's see; WB spent $220m on Flash, so by Hollywood rules it has to make $440m to break even. It's goning to make $300m worldwide total if not less but let's go with that number. That's $140m loss. Now you add the $100m cost on marketing. That's $240m loss for The Flash
>WB spent $220m on Flash
More like 300, and theres a chance thats before marketing.
has a digital copy leaked yet? I refuse to pay but I wanna watch out of pure morbid curiosity
>Miscasted Flash
This doomed it even before he went nuts.
Was Grant Gustin in the movie as rumored?
Someone paid 300m just to see Ezra naked.
And WB gets fricked in the ass due to moronic executive decisions. God this was a sunk cost fallacy in real time if I've ever seen one.
I wonder why they didn't pull that "90 million dollar to make Batgirl tax write-off" scheme? Was it too late for that course of action or did Zaslav truly believe the Flash could actually be profitable?
>What went wrong?
everything.
How does this fricking man who was born with a godsent chiseled physique decided to waste it all on genderfreak shit?
Hollyweird, not even once
literally because he was a raped child
They betrayed her, left her to die on this movie.
I'll miss the suit, haircut and cute face.
She and Nora's actress were ridiculously breedable. Same with Iris. Jesus Christ
Since when were executives meant to be the ones telling people what to think of their movies?
Warner Bros, that's what went wrong.
>All this happened because Ray Fisher refused to say booya
NO! I MUST GO BACK AND WARN THEM!
I don't understand what ever went right in the first place.
Why was he ever considered to be worth the trouble?
I understand why it's commonly believed that he must have dirt on the right people.
CGI was garbage, storyline was trash, acting wasn’t terrible, but it leaned to heavily on nostalgia. Plot was terrible, the “hero” gives up the moment things look tough and ends up a failure. All the good guys die for nothing, they don’t save any lives, they don’t stop any bad guys, they just choke on their failures and die. This wasn’t a superhero movie, it was a superzero movie.
