what went wrong?

i just watched both films and the second one left a sour taste. the animation and the visuals were really good don't get me wrong but man, this movie REALLY didn't need a sequel

the second movie felt like it was written to "respond to" the first one, instead of trying to be good

      It's this.
I'm disappointed in modern Pixar but Incredibles 2 is the one film they've made I actually hate.

the 2nd movie telegraphed the villain being the villain just a little too much.

To be fair, you already knew the Buddy kid from the prologue was gonna reappear at some point. Too much screentime to just dissapear from the film afterwards. Besides, at one point long before the reveal, Mirage says over the phone about Mr. Incredible : "this is the one HE's been looking for"

it was done in a much better way. the villian in the first one is actually a good villian character instead of the evil looking dyke that repeats the same thing over and over again.

Also his motivation and character concept was directly related with the premise of the movie: superheroes.

because the second Incredibles was made when everything started to have an agenda

I think it's unironically this, they showed her to basically not need any help, and bee just as capable, with or without her family, while in the first one, Mr. Incredible had to learn that sometimes he needs help.

They cast Bob Odenkirk and he barely did anything the whole movie. They should have just made him the bad guy since it was obvious either way

What is the moral of the movie? What flaw did mrs. I overcome to succeed?

      >What is the moral of the movie?
that disney buying pixar was a terrible mistake.

If they were totally set on the sequel only focusing on the mom, they should've set it in the past showing her glory days with the other heroes mentioned in 1.

Second villain fricking sucked. You knew it was her from the get go. She looks like a dyke who is seconds away from jamming her face into Elastigirl's pussy. Bob and his wife's voices are SUPER fricking old and it really fricks with your sense of disbelief. They have clear, strong voices in the first and then sound like feeble fricks in the second. Dash had ZERO development. I don't give a FRICK about Violet crying about some dick.
    >Oh no I have to start all over and find another boy to like REEE DAD WHY MUST YOU UPROOT OUR LIVES
Like b***h shut the frick up.

      >I don't give a FRICK about Violet crying about some dick.
her character actually got worse in the sequel. her progression is already completed in the first movie masterfully so in the sequel she's just a generic teenage girl that goes invisible.

Exactly. The dude who wrote the story was forced to do a sequel and he was forced to focus on the women characters--the characters who men who prop up the superhero genre specifically do NOT give a focus on. I was on board because it's like if Incredibles was Daddy's Day Out then let mom have some fun. Except it's "Let's take this genre that only men like where you're altruistic and giving because you're capable of so much and you choose to be selfless instead of seeking attention. Now let's make a woman do it." A woman, who doesn't have to have any of those qualities if she simply chooses not to. That's a hard fricking sell. If the movie is mandated for chicks then you gotta do what chicks like. What do chicks like?
        >boys
        >Having others realize they are right
        >Never changing themselves, it's others who finally have to let go of their own thinking to go "you are right"
        >boys
        >They sit around and eat and talk
        >They sit around and talk and eat
        >boys
You're not going to get men with that shit.

what i liked about the first movie is that the danger was actually real for the characters and didn't shy away from the possibility of death. the henchmen were legit trying to kill the family but a lot of them were actually killed in the fighting. not only that but also the other superheroes being killed and even showing the remains of one of them gives the movie real stakes.

another cool thing in the first movie is how the abilities of the children seem to be perfectly designed for the moment in the story where they literally have to run and hide.

It's pretty simple but I've always liked the character super powers fitting their characters.
      >Incredible
      Can't handle being mundane
      >Elastigirl
Has stretched and adapted to her new life
      >Violet
The overlooked, angsty teenager who might as well be invisible
      >Dash
The ball of childhood energy that can't stand being contained (bonus points for being like his father in that regard).

Worst aspect of the movie is that it was a midlife crisis only that instead of Bob it's Helen now . They should have made the kids grow to explore different themes. Also the main antagonist is fricking moronic

        >lso the main antagonist is fricking moronic
She looked moronic and had a stupid non-physical power. Non physical powered supervillains almost always fricking suck unless you build them up properly. The terrorist acts they commit like Joker. All this b***h did was put on a mask and try to hypnotize people which had a very erotic undertone to it.
