I realized this once I got to an episode where the motw were sentient blankets. They didn't even bother explaining what they were, and they were cgi rendered literally as blankets. That were sentient.
It was pretty bad even during Eccleston's tenure, but it had enough good stuff mixed in with the bad and weird shit to make it worth watching. The good stuff was mostly gone by the time Tennant left and was completely gone when Capaldi left.
They couldn't let it be about a cool alien dude who has fun adventures in his little blue box, they had to have him be the last of his race and be on a quest to discover the lost truth about an epic battle that hasn't happened yet like a fricking anime
I liked that premise at first. It meant the Time Lords were out of the picture, and they work better as a background concept than an active part of the universe anyway. The Daleks were reduced to a scattered remnant of pitiful scavengers, which is great because they are at their best when they are desperate underdogs. The Doctor as a grumpy veteran was good too, when he wasn't overdoing the "last of my kind, abloo bloo bloo" angst. It would have been better if several Time Lords survived, but they were all misfits and outcasts like the Rani and the Meddling Monk who were away from Gallifrey when it was destroyed, so they are more of a rogues gallery that the Doctor feels responsible for keeping in check than they are potential friends or allies. Anyway the Time War was a terrific idea as long as it was used primarily to set the Doctor free from the Time Lords and keep Dalek appearances less frequent and more impactful, but it started to suck when the war itself became a major plot focus for several seasons.
It's kind of funny how the Doctor is a huge butthole to him though.
Mickey was a rapist
Some anons like to bang on about how it's muh interracial propaganda, but the truth of the situation is that Mickey's a useless moron and it's the White Man Doctor who does the cucking here
They just can't help themselves
Same here; Clara spends the whole series essentially cheating on Danny Splink with the Doctor
Whatever could go right or wrong has done so five times already with this show. It's literally 60 years old. Just enjoy the good and forget the bad. Life's too short to b***h about a TV show.
The way I hear it, it was Matt Smith's departure. Something about him flip flopping on whether he was actually going to stay on, so when he did duck out, Capaldi's got left with a lot of writing that was meant for 11 but got cobbled together for 12, and that rippled throughout the rest of his tenure. Of course, not to say that Moffat was holding up anyways, as Series 6 was already faltering a lot and Series 7 was just awkward as shit, but Capaldi in the front seat and a second swing at writing a whole new Doctor would've been the kick in the pants to turn things around. Instead, it was okay at best with a lot of wet farts
Then of course there's all the nonsense that went wrong with Series 11 onward, like the loss of Murray Gold and extreme mishandling of Jodie Whittaker in both direction and marketing (who could forget this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gm2PXshWC_0), but that's death, not going wrong. Death was as inevitable as the Chiblord himself
That advert is even weirder in hindsight, because they didn't even lean into Doctor Who being a woman now. They played it as safe as they possibly could and basically just ignored the change.
Who knows
I don't get it
they ran out of ideas

1. Communist values injected into the show
2. Female Doctor
3. The Timeless Child.
4. Black homosexual Doctor
The Timeless Child stuff was the most moronic shake up of the show, but they still somehow managed to make it boring and mean absolutely nothing
the 2010s came around. and then the 2020s.
got rid off the fat hairless guy from little britain
it was fun having a character that wasn't created for the doctor to punch down on
when billie piper's boyfriend was a wog

Writer Steven Moffat that just wrote convoluted nonsense.

Woman Doctor.
That shit killed it stone dead almost immediately.
Both writing and Jodie sucked. Dropped on her second season.
They just can't help themselves
It took you 8 seasons to notice it, when it was there from the start? lol
who are some doctors

>they didn't even lean into doctor who being a woman now
anon the entire trailer is a glass ceiling breaking
I mean in the actual episodes, so it's makes the "oh I'm a girlboss" marketing even more moronic.
gays and Women
>What went wrong?
Too much current year bullshit and not enough interesting alien stuff
Too many stupid plot twists and important plot events that just get dropped the next season.
