They went back to the pedo who directed X2 instead of following Matthew Vaughn's much better idea of doing Apocalypse second, introducing Tom Hardy as the new Wolverine, then doing Days of Future Past because it's such a huge crescendo that literally nothing could follow it.
Someone who can fricking act. Every time I see him on screen its like he doesn't give a shit what he's doing and reads his lines like a dipshit who doesn't understand how people talk.
They used the shitty twinX-Men cast instead of the vastly superior OG trilogy cast. Seriously imagine Marsden’s Cyclops, Jansen’s Jean, Jackman’s Wolverine, and Berry’s Storm getting a real, proper send off before Logan. But no. Singer thought with his dick and we got a lackluster cast of twinks.
nobody really likes X-Men as a movie franchise, they liked Jennifer Lawrence when she was young and hot and relatable
star power really is that fickle, it'll happen to Deadpool III or if not, to IV, same as it happened to all those Wolverine movies that only made a profit because they were made for magic beans
you've really got to get over this James Marsden obsession anon, he's fricking fifty for one thing and for another, he's a fricking moron who went off a successful series to do Superman Reboots in which he plays literally don't talk to me or my wife's son ever again the character, a character who only exists to fly a plane so that Superman doesn't die in the same real estate scam that Lex was trying to pull in Superman in 1978
and he made Interstate 60, a movie so insanely dull it almost manages to make its libertarian bullshit sound sane, but not quite
Everything. >See that the MCU format has been selling well so decide to have a big end of the world villain. >Introduce a whole new cast of X-Men for the new team but don't actually care about fleshing out their characters because the movie doesn't have time for that. >Bring back Eric and Raven to do basically the exact same shit they did in the last film despite completing their character arcs for a second time. >frick you turns out this movie is really about how Charles went bald.
Needed a lower stakes villain and time to let the new cast do breakfast club but with mutants.
The tone is all over the place, we have a scene of Magento mourning the death of his family followed immediately by an 80’s mall montage. Also just way too many characters. It feels like an avengers movie with everyone coming together but they don’t benefit from having solo films for development. First Class and Future Past had a much tighter cast
>Wasn't the reaction to DOFP just "well at least that didn't suck balls"?
youre thinking of the wolverine, which was an extremely average movie that people liked just because it wasnt origins:wolverine or X3 tier
but people went into DOFP with high expectations because first class was such a hit
and then exceeded those high expectations by being the best one since X2

>Tom Hardy as the new Wolverine
But that's moronic.
Any more moronic than him as Eddie Brock?
He's short, buff and hairy. What else do you want?
>What else do you want?

Then stop watching capeshit and watch some of the shit he's been great in like Bronson.
He’s not a good actor anon. At all.
X2 is a top 3 cape film and it’s not even a debate

Goddamn you’re an idiot. Like, I’ve seen some fricking stupid posts on this board but Jesus Christ you take the moron cake. Congratulations I guess.
they wanted Avengers money so they made a big bloated spectacle instead of the chad character driven kino that was First Class and DOFP
Jean Grey's actress had negative charisma. Also why tf were they so insistent on setting up Dark Phoenix again?
Because dark pheonix is the x-men’s original avengers level event
Everything.

You may hate it, but it's the most true X-Men film you can get, faults and all concerning the material
One of the best X-Men movies. Psylocke was perfect.
>They had so much goodwill coming off Days of Future Past.
Did they? Wasn't the reaction to DOFP just "well at least that didn't suck balls"?
People were happy to see the OG cast in the good future

I didn't see this one, does it adapt the Age of Apocalypse story? If so it was a missed chance not to include my boy Nemesis/Holocaust.
