>too long
not at all. stuff like Primal showed how even dialogue-free stuff like a dinosaur and caveman running from a zombie longneck can completely hook you for 20 minutes
UWE just had really, really bad pacing and a frankly incompetent plot
The pacing is fricking bizarre. It has a lot of quiet moments which are fine, but then it will cram what should be a full episodes worth of plot into a few minutes.
Genndy storyboards all the scenes by hand in a notebook which is honestly a schizo way of doing things in 2023, I can see how that would result in wack pacing
No the problem with Unicorn is it couldn't tell a coherent story. The damn thing spent minutes of animation for atmosphere but couldn't bother using any of its run time for basic exposition. Doesn't help that none of it's good plot elements even get any worthwhile focus.
A lot of the shots are just big ol' Popeye eyes and straining on actionless scenes. Primal at least made sense with the shots since they convey what is happening in the world
Not enough episodes of Edred being sad and Emmalinda (me) comforting him while he whimpers and sobs into her (my) shoulder like the pathetic little elf he really is.
Also June and Otto just dying and the Evil doing frick all while Unicorn spends all their time and energy and most of the season fixing problems they themselves created.
Why'd the elf guy even need to put his soul into the robot if his people live forever anyway.
Couldn't he just hang out, train and look for more superpowered recruits during downtime or something
Thats a good point. There are so many things that make zero sense from Unicorn Warriars Eternal. Its dissapointing because the concept of the show isn't bad and the animation is great, but my god is the story and worldbuilding a total mess.
Kid Cosmic was not incredible, but it was fine, like 6.5/10. Unicorn is proof that Genndy put all of his stats into art and should never be allowed to write a story again
And the characters look terrible. His art style is ugly for action and drama. It works for silly comedies like Dexter's Lab, but don't expect people to get emotionally invested into such off putting characters even Samurai Jack suffered from this as much as fanatics don't want to admit it. Just because a sack of trash like Adventure Time managed to become a success with the stupidest looking character designs ever doesn't mean that's the standard.
I actually quite like Samurai Jack's character designs, but in Unicorn's case I agree. The poorly written plot is still the main reason why I'm not invested, but it becomes extra hard to take emotional scenes seriously when the characters are looking like this all the time
Unicorn Warriors Eternal felt like it was just building towards that last episode, with all the timelines/chronologies totally mixed up. That seems like the real setting of the show going forward.
Kid would have worked better with a villain of the week with the villain being a different kind of 70s inspired science fiction
Unicorn attack felt like we were dropped in season three of a show we never watchec
KC either needed to be expanded out to like 20 30 minute long episodes per season or it needed to be cut down to three one and a half hour long movies.
UWE suffered from Genndy sitting on the idea for to long and in the process warping it into mush to keep ahead of trends, alongside stubborn pride over how nobody takes classic cartoon designs seriously.
Cosmic didn't need another season
Unicorn didn't deserve to last past episode 3
Did anyone else feel like Unicorns episodes were just too long? So much dead air that didn't need to be there

The pacing was just that bad.

And then there's also minute(s) long comedy bits that don't really add anything and aren't THAT funny to be worthwhile on their own

>both great shows
What went wrong? You
After how Samurai Jack ended and the way Primal handled Spear, I did not bother to check this out. Knowing Gennedy, I'm betting it had a shit ending.

I know literally nothing about this show but the blue elf reminds me of Dante from Devil May Cry and I think that's Pretty Cool.
I know literally nothing about Devil May Cry but I can tell you he couldn't be more different from Dante lol
Craig can’t into episodic
Genndy got up his own ass
>Scene where Melinda sees dozens of muscular naked warriors and blushes bashfully when looking at all their wieners
Based Genndy
>Gets an eyeful of her naked fiance a few episodes later
Scandalous!
>Turns into a cosmic canine-thing and not a unicorn
I sincerely don't get the rationale here
Both shows were garbage. Bad artwork, bad storylines, bad voice actors and so on.
Bump

kid cosmic is easily the weakest from Craig. feels like he was on autopilot
I fricking adore Unicorn
He needs a wrangler to keep his show in check
Genndy can’t write. He’s a good visual and idea guy but needs to delegate the writing.

Not enough fox lady
