Shireen was just infuriating because Stannis would not have done that, it was completely against his character. He was the only reason she was still alive to that point, because he loved his daughter and refused to put her down solely because of the greyscale. Even beyond that she was a total innocent and sacrificing her completely spit in the face of his own moral code..

He literally did it. What are you talking about.

In the show, where they made so many changes that went against how the characters were written it's not even funny. This event doesn't exist in the book series. It's a show invention. Stannis even leaves instruction to his men to support Shireen as queen if he's killed when he leaves Castle Black.

They couldn't even properly change Stannis. He felt all over the fricking place because the source material they had to follow is saying near-opposite shit to what they want to convey. That and their attempts to prop up Dany until they realized they were cornered into honoring the intended ending showed me just how easily tricked normalgays are when shitty creators make stories that lie to them. You can just play ominous or uplifting music and your average viewer will just agree with its intent.

They did this all through the life of the show from the beginning, making female characters like Catelyn look better than they were portrayed in the novels.

He already left on his way to Winterfell, so if he still dies in Winterfell, it can't, not by Stannis' choice or with his involvement.

If Shireen does get burned in the book it'll only be because Stannis is either not present or dead.

                >However, now, those 10.000 people use the Internet and read the right theories. They say: “Oh God, the butler did it!”, to use an example of a mystery novel. Then, you think: “I have to change the ending! The maiden would be the criminal!” To my mind that way is a disaster because if you are doing well you work, the books are full of clues that point to the butler doing it and help you to figure up the butler did it, but if you change the ending to point the maiden, the clues make no sense anymore; they are wrong or are lies, and I am not a liar.
There are already too many elements that predict what will happen (Stannis repeating that his duty is to protect his subjects, the vision of the crown consuming him, he could sacrifice a child to save millions of people, choosing between heart and duty), Martin won't change it.

I know. But that is HIS character in the show. You aren't reading the book you are watching the TV. He DID it. You can't say something he did goes against what HE would do because you made something up in your head.
He literally all ready done it.

I felt like at that point they didn't know what to do with half the characters and the only thing George had to tell them was that Melisandre resurrected Jon. So they took Stannis out of the story to have one less plot thread to worry about and make the red woman a free agent. Nothing about Stannis' last few episodes makes any sense unless they were just trying to kill him off

The only thing that made me particularly sad at all was The Hound’s death, just because he was my favorite and the only character I gave a shit about at that point. Hard to be sad when the series kept jumping the shark and trying to one-up its own moronation.

I dropped it once I found out they not only had no intention of doing Stoneheart, but were also cutting out Victarion entirely. There were already too many other changes by that point, and with those it wasn't even the same series anymore.

I knew the show had no hope after they cut Jamie's arch in the Riverlands and had him go to Dorne to meet the comically bad Sand Snakes.

It wasn't even necessarily the changes themselves that made me drop it, it was the bullshit "because we don't like that part" reasoning. They didn't want to adapt this series, they just wanted to adapt SOMETHING that could take off and make them names, and they proved it hard as hell when they rushed through the last season to go get fired by Disney.
