What Western cartoons have the largest number of fanfiction? I'm gonna with Invader Zim or Steven Universe. It's shocking that Hazbin Hotel only has one episode, two prequel comic and one music video yet it's got as muany fanfics as Steven Universe, a cartoon with over a thousand episodes. That is crazy.

said. But also because the setting and characters were so barebones (or at least used to be) that some fic authors wrote their creative stories that just happened to be small horse-flavored

I noticed that older works usually have more fanfics on fanfiction.net but newed works have way more fanfiction on AO3. There is also the fact that AO3 gets way more traffic nowadays, mainly because it allows more freedon than the other one and it also allows real person fiction, something that isn't allowed on fanfiction.net.

surprisingly mha has about 250k on ao3, so its catching up pretty quickly. though to be honest i feel like a lot of the pre 2010s shows probably show up as much smaller than they actually are, given that fanfiction didn't use to be quite so centralized on a few sites.
It’s more that archive of our own tends to be where you can post more fricked up fetish stuff which the newer generation of fandoms tend to be into.
