No. First off they really werent bullied despite claims they were. The guys had serious issues in the brains and were socially isolated. TONS of people get bullied especially in their younger years. Most of them do not kill innocents. Social isolation is a bigger contributing factor to all kinds of horrible behavior. I wish the news would stop pushing a 50 year old narrative. It wasnt just these two, that college kid in the tower with the rifle was assumed to be bullied and eventually investigators found out that wasnt true.

        bullying causes social isolation

          Anonymous

Thats never a guarantee and not as common as I suspect you believe. And it also helps prove my point a little. The social isolation is what causes real damage. Bullying causes other issues but not the mass shootings. And yes, you can have both at the same time. The problem is every moron in America (which is most of the population) assumes bullying any time some incident occurs. If you refuse to study and learn and see the real problem you can not fix it. Stop looking for bully victims. Start looking at the socially isolated, which are people you probably don't see until you really want to.

Yeah loads of testimony from parents, school kids, and teachers & staff and even the frickin janitors. Funny how chatty people were in 1999 before social media. You start asking the right questions and they spill the beans just for some attention. Even better if they get on the news. The boys themselves complained of feeling socially outcast, NOT bullied. (obviously they said and wrote this before they died.)

None of the guns cane from their parents. The carbine and shotguns were bought by Harris's GF and the tec 9 purchased from a co-worker who along with the original owner were charged with supplying a pistol to a minor.

          Anonymous

Yeah but thats not the issue. Cops everywhere are pussies all the time. Even so in some mass shootings they forget to be pussies and actually move in at a reasonable pace. A total lack of training on how to deal with these incidents will always lead to failure. So now some departments with money actually hire and train more. Not all of them.

            Anonymous

The problem with columbine is the same issue pre 9/11 dealings with airline hijackings. The assumption was that the people behind these attacks have a goal beyond just killing as many people as possible. Therefore rather than have beat cops charge in like John McClain you have them hold back and wait for the SWAT team and negotiators turn up and figure out what's actually going on. Turns for a lot of people the ultimate goal is attention via killing a lot of people with no intention of ever surrendering.

              Anonymous

And again, I suggest we need more analysis into the core problem, fixing those issues, and also more and better training for police.

                Anonymous

The solution to Columbine is not to ignore red flags something which is unfortunately a common theme in mass shootings as no one is ever held accountable for not investigating the obvious psychopath with a gun.

                Anonymous

Most of those are committed by guys who already graduated and have a grudge against their former school. Dylan and Eric themselves were about to graduate. Nobody is looking at data and trends so they can analyze it and come up with a solution. Everyone is still looking at it as "an unfortunate tragedy that just happened"

Well, again, in 1999 we did not know what the look for. I dont think the term "red flag" was used by the media or the pundits or the cops at that time. We know more now, but we have experience.

      >On a 1997 English class assignment, Harris wrote about how difficult the move was from New York to Colorado. "It was the hardest moving from Plattsburgh. I have the most memories from there", Harris continued. "When I left (his friends) I felt alone, lost and even agitated that I had spent so much time with them and now I have to go because of something I can't stop."
      >Harris had a chest deformity known as pectus excavatum, in which the breastbone sinks into the chest. This made Harris reluctant to take his shirt off in gym class as other students ridiculed him. Harris had two cosmetic surgeries at age 12 and 13 to repair the deformity.
