The difficulty is *most* comic relationships don’t last unless the same editorial controls both characters. That pretty much limits Steph’s pool of guys to Tim, Tim’s brothers, civvies no one gives a frick about, and up-and-coming OCs that have no adoptive link yet (Clownhunter as an example, but I’m sure the Batbooks will never stop churning out more as the years go on).

That movie was a wreck, but the fact that they considered making a Babs movie first at all should tell you where their priority lies. As for Gunn, we'll see if that slate even goes as far as they plan.
Will cass be used more? Probably. But as we've seen so far, she's probably going to be changed alot, and at that point, is she still the character you like? YJ came the closest.

Same thing with the merchandising wing all choosing to use the more classic looks of the characters over the legacies.
They had decades to use Cass in things and they didn't. Didn't put her in a flashforward in The Batman. Didn't use her in Brave and the Bold. Barely put her on any merch or made toys(DC's own division made more toys of her than Mattel did in 20 years)

Comics are pretty much the only medium built around visual action and internal monologue over spoken words, and that gives Cass a massive advantage in helping the reader understand and identify with her. Take that away and the average television watcher being newly introduced to her as part of an ensemble isn’t gonna see much depth in her character.

Interjecting, but characters that barely speak like the Mandalorian or samurai jack do have popularity. And cass is different from bruce in the sense that the silent is less stoicism and more so her being unable to express herself which comes off as endearing.
You’ll notice both those are examples are male protagonists, as opposed to a female ensemble character — which realistically is all Cass has a shot at if even gold child Babs doesn’t have DC’s faith to stand as a main character outside of the books.
Mind you, I’m not saying no one would like her. Endearing is just right, if a given project could strike that creepy-cute balance Cass had at a distance in NML, before her solo allowed a real deep dive.
But again, between DC’s reluctance to portray Batgirl as serious and the complexities of adapting a character who works so well exactly because the original medium plays to her strengths, it’s gonna be an uphill battle to get a *great* other media Cass.
I mean being the quiet and cool one in an ensemble would also work well enough. And there is the whole thing with gunn having a soft spot for her and all. Obviously they are likely going to frick her up if they do her.
