Japanese comedy in general is about doubling down on a gimmick, a style, or a gag. The comedy is extremely stale imo. Manzai sadly is the only comedic artform in japan with any relevance besides rakugo.
And manzai relies on a very predictable formula.

I started there too, without knowing any japanese. Through subbed episodes, and years of watching, i got to the point where i somewhat understand most of the episodes. But it's a long road.
Anyway, if you understand why video related is funny and what they are telling him, then you should have no problem at all with any episode.

You watch a lot subbed stuff, pick on words and phrases, then start catching those words in unsubbed, slowly start connecting them.

Man, finally someone understands. 2000's and 2010's early to mid were the real golden years. Piccadeli, Hamada's camp, Matsumoto Chousen... all those good episodes gone and replaced with unfunny fricks, like Cookie, every second episode.

Generally the best episodes, at least for me, are those where they include Gaki's staff as well. Komu, Yoshinobu, Ohnuma, Suga etc...

Gaki no tsukai is not like a normal series. It is a variety show. You do not have to follow a chronological order, and often you couldnt even if you wanted to. You find whatever subbed episodes you can find online, and watch them.
I recommend absolutely tasty series to start with, matsumoto pie hell, or silent library, and ofcourse the batsu game specials
