Exactly, Disney knows how iconic Gravity Falls is and how 12 years later. The fandom is still quite active.

I guarantee that if Alex told Disney he'd be willing to do another season they'd sign the papers. Whatever bridges he's burned Gravity Falls has a ridiculously huge fanbase that is vocal, and Disney knows that.

I think Alex could get the Stan Twins Spin-Off if he's willing to incorporate Dipper and Mabel into the narrative of it.

I think a Stan Twins spinoff would be divisive, I know that for a lot of fans Mabel and Dipper *are* the show.

Who knows? Maybe he'll surprise everyone with some new hit show or movie.

Personally, I barely even know who Alex Hirsch is and I never heard of Gravity Falls before until I started browsing Cinemaphile more often a couple years ago. I'm more apathetic towards him than anything

In terms of Hirsch's career, so far it feels as if he didn't accomplish as much as the like of Matt Groening, Chuck Jones, Craig McCracken, and Genndy Tartakovsky. If Hirsch is content with a two-season, cable channel lore show being his legacy, then so be it.

Now that I think of it, Hirsch bares some resemblance to that Dipper character. Maybe he should cosplay as that character more often. I'm sure Gravity Falls fans get a kick out of it.

Not really that surprising. A book doesn't require anyone else to interact with him besides the publisher. He isn't coming into studio to peepee poopoo all over the receptacles again. They can use him to milk the lucrative and untapped Gravity Falls fanbase, and if they don't use him, he will go online and tell everyone the book is non-canon, hurting sales (like he did with Dipper and Mabel's Mystery Guide).

What is honestly his and Terrace's deal? Did they really get that shook up working with the mouse and learning it's not that great? I mean, by the time these shows released I am positive the love of Disney was way out the window of being overpraised like they use to be for years. Are they just that naive? Do they also think no one is looking at their behavior and it's just not seen as a red flag to them?

It seems there is a general consensus around the industry that Alex and Dana are unpleasant and hard to work with. I feel like it's more Alex who is deserving of this by the way, since we had at least one proven episode of a person who was on his staff going ape shit about him (the whole Luke thing) not to mention other Disney show runners publicly turning their back on him when he went after S&P. Dana on the other hand I feel like the only bad story we really got about her was, "she smashed a cintiq once". Like that's it. Not even really specific either, for all we know "smashed" means her clumsy ass bumped into it and knocked it over. Dana also handled the pretty shitty way her show was treated in the end mostly professionally. I don't think Alex would've gone down so quietly.

I miss the Alex vs Luke wars
It's also funny that there was someone who totally wasn't Alex always making threads shitting on that EZPV video, when everything from it ended up being more or less true (at least in regards to Hirsch).

Looks like TOH crew migrated to Haileys on It once they were wrapping up their show.
I can still see some art tropes from TOH that carried over to HoI even Rough Draft animated it.

Luke was just assumed to be a liar because he had a stereotypical cringe "muh PC snowflakes" attitude, but the supposed story about him trying to kill Alex with scissors has, like, zero evidence to this day. In contrast, the other show runners who have badmouthed Alex suggest Luke wasn't all that dishonest…

I was just paraphrasing GoT, but same meaning. Just because you turn on your master in the end doesn't forgive you for the acts you commit on their behalf.

Obviously we aren't talking fricking murder here, but Alex both paid lip service to the twitter anti-Disney crowd, while collecting a check from them and even pushing his girlfriend (whom he groomed from an intern role, what is now considered #metoo'able in most cases) into a showrunner role.

Truthfully, it doesn't look too good. The Netflix deal fell apart and he didn't end up developing a single cartoon for them. They've gutted their animation department as well so it doesn't seem like there will be any change to this in the future.
And then the fact that Disney is in kind of a sorry state right now, they keep cancelling cartoons and nothing seems to stick, they're even going back to Phineas and Ferb. If they went crawling back to Povenmire, then how come the best thing Hirsch can get for Gravity Falls is yet another art book? Alex carries too much baggage, is likely demanding too much money still, and even if they got him back and he changed his ways, there is no guarantee he still "has it". I'd argue that Amphibia already set out to do what Gravity Falls wanted to do and executed it better. They're better off giving Matt Braly a new show than Alex Hirsch.
