The weed farm stuff sounds so horrendously unfunny I don't want to catch up on South Park, Randy was one of my favorite characters, love that he's a geologist. (geologists are insane)
I always hated this way of thinking. It's like the Wachowski weirdo shitting out a turd of a Matrix film on purpose to poison the well instead of, you know, giving somebody else even a small chance to make something half-decent. It stinks of "I'm breaking my toys away so you can't play with them".
I've only seen a handful of episodes since season 15. I cannot believe it's at 26 seasons or that anyone is still watching. He was a good character once but sounds like he's totally jumped the shark.
The show would be better if they killed off Randy for a cheap ratings stunt. That's how overused and pointless he is. They'll never do that though because it means they'll have to focus on the kids again and that actually takes effort instead of LOLWEED.
I feel like he was normal until about season 9 when they started using him a lot more. Was the getting drunk at junior baseball the first crazy Randy thing?
The 1st time i remember Randy becoming more of joke character was the Make Love not Warcraft episode. After that they started using him a lot more for stories and jokes and the little league episode with batdad kind of solidifed the modern interpretation of Randy imo.
he was just a goofball dad, most they showed of him was figuring out the spontaneous combustion and that gag of him being in a boy band, but yes, still mostly one of the simplistic grown ups in the town
not anymore though, he's been the center of the show for about 15 years and batshit fricking insane >Randy goes insane and gets pissed on in the Pee episode >Randy is Lorde >Randy is an insane weed farmer >Randy obsesses over a toilet >Randy obsesses over internet porn >Randy goes to China to frick a pangolin >Randy gets cancer for a high >Randy does musicals >Randy becomes a chef >Randy watches crime porn >Randy does wiener magic
and on and on
Randy is fricking goated but i hate that Matt and Trey have sort of made him the "MC" of the show and most of the plots revolve around him and his ability to solve them. The kids are becoming 2ndary characters to him and it kind of sucks.
Why does reddit love this character so much?
Randy was kind of funny in the Warcraft and Baseball episode, but ever since then they've tried way WAY too hard to push him as the insane over-the-top dad, when he was originally an unassuming laid back character.
Well the early eps are pretty dumb and barely have any characterization (Cartman's not a psychopath monster just a fat kid with a prostitute mom, etc) so they all seem kinda thin with lots of toilet humor
i still like him but they did start overusing him and his character started taking weird turns as they scrambled to give him reasons for more screen time
but there was a point when he was the funniest cartoon side character ever

>They tease reverting him back to normal
>Just kidding, he's still a weed farmer
The more people you complain about it not being funny the longer they are gonna go on with it
don't care, longer i wont watch it then

Trey Parker's Dad was a geologist...I think he was called Randy as well.
wait till you find out what matt stone's dad did lawyer like kyle's dad
You're not missing out, those episodes are very meh.
t. love south park

Wasn't he perfectly normal at some point when did he start to go completely crazy?

>Seethe about Family Guy across multiple episodes
>Spend 15 years having Randy be Peter Griffin
People started recognizing him as the best character in like 2012 and then Matt and Trey leaned into it and destroyed their show
Overly flanderized shit character who ruined the show
I don't find him as funny as I feel like the show wants me to think, I think he's just the embodiment of the shows creators becoming older / fathers
One of the best and worst characters in the show.
>new south park episode comes out
>its another 40 minute "special" that is centered around randy
when? I liked the cred one
Randy is grown up Stan he's hilarious at times but is used as a tool way too often as you see in the Tegridy arc
Honestly it's funny as frick and even funnier when people get mad about it
They ought to age the kids up to 5th grade.
japanese humor
Jumped the shark ages ago.

matt and trey were 28 when the show started, now they're mid 50s with kids. They identify with Randy more than the kids so he's easier to write
His first spotlight episode was during season 3, episode 2: Spontaneous Combustion.

Season 2 Randy.
Reminder that Trey Parker and Matt Stone hate these early episodes.

He still looks just like my dad, so he's hilarious but a fricking idiot
In the mid/late 2000's when they gave Randy and Butters more stories the show entered another golden age. But at this point Randy is washed
God Butters is so fricking funny
i still like him but they did start overusing him and his character started taking weird turns as they scrambled to give him reasons for more screen time
but there was a point when he was the funniest cartoon side character ever
my second favorite moron on the show
a funny character that got way too much screen time and got less funny and more annoying.
this weed shit is getting lame, needs something new
