There was a guy in college I knew who literally would play devil's advocate for fun but would never acknowledge it, he acted like he really believed whatever he was arguing for even though he often contradicted himself too, the mfer just loved to debate. He would just go "you're wrong and here's why" and proceed to argue the opposite thing I remembered him saying a month before. I really don't understand people like that.
I do this with my wife and it makes her mad. Usually when she complains about coworkers or friends I'll say stuff like "well she's been going through a lot", "maybe she said that because [reason I made up]", etc. kek
Having to argue against your own beliefs is a decent way to drive personal growth and try to see things from all perspectives. I dont do it in real life, but I do it here. Nothing worse than 20-somethings who believe that they have everything figured out and don’t need to challenge any of their beliefs
