      David Lunch lol.

Straight Story is so sincere it mindbreaks Lynch fans. I hope Tarantula makes his final movie just genuinely about film criticism in the 70s. No weird plot, twists, no blood and gore. Just a straight drama. That’s about the same as Straight Story in the Lunch canon.

Blue Velvet bc it features his themes/aesthetics and plot's linear. But Lynch is not for average types

These 2 as a double feature

Eraserhead, then Twin Peaks and FWWM.
If they liked those show them Blue Velvet and Lost Highway

I think eraserhead is a bit too depressing to start off with

eraserhead is the one majority of people start out with because it's one of his most critically acclaimed and well liked films

Mulholland Drive, obviously. then Lost Highway

Mulholland Drive or maybe Blue Velvet. Eraserhead is going to bore the majority of people, FWWM is for Twin Peaks fans, and several of the others aren't weird enough to demonstrate his style. Watching Eraserhead wouldn't even make you believe he could make something as bizarre as Mulholland Drive

The 1990 pilot of Twin Peaks. It's his most accessible point.

Mulholland Drive is the most overrated film of the 21st century.
    Objective Lynch ranking:
Fire Walk With Me (+the show) > Blue Velvet > Eraserhead > The Straight Story > Lost Highway > The Elephant Man > Inland Empire > Mulholland Drive > Wild at Heart > Dune

I agree that Wild At Heart is mad sketchy, r/movies.

        >r/movies
You should go back there. Also imagine being filtered by Wild at Heart, its Davids only good movie besides Dune and Blue Velvet and the cast is perfect

Blue Velvet is the only truly Lynchian film he's made that's actually good

    >as bizarre as mulholland drive
there's nothing bizarre about it, he made a pilot for a TV show that makes up a coherent first half and slapped barely coherent rushed garbage with muh Hollywood hurts actresses message onto the second half to ship it

it's not deep, it's a lazy cash grab that you morons just eat up

    >our primal desire reflecting on itself
This is what a critic would say about Lynch. Lynch himself would just smile and say "I like it, it's silly"

Mulholland Drive. it's quite approachable, fun to watch and gives you a good picture of what lynch is about
