See, this is why I want a Family Guy movie. It no doubt would be a musical, and if there's one thing the crew knows how to do it's make each song a SPECTACLE.
The ones that are actually original and aren't just wholesale plagiarism.
I'm even willing to forgive these because Seth is such a great performer and the visuals always add so much. Mr. Booze and Shipoopi had no right being as good as they were.
See, that's the thing. Most of the time the target audience isn't going to get these references despite the joke hinging on them getting it. So you just end up with a bunch of people automatically assuming that Family Guy just made these original songs/jokes. It's both lazy and deceitful.
That one's not bad. Shipoopi is one of the worst. In that it's pure indulgence with no humor to be derived from it other than it being weird they're doing an extended, unedited reference that does not matter in context.
The Grease parody though I think is better then the Christmas one because it's a parody of a type of high school anti-drug style, and thus the Grease reference works on two levels. Both the direct rewrite, and the episode as a whole being a parody of teen movies.
The joke is that Peter does an entire musical number as a touchdown celebration. Granted, it is a bit of a dated joke because it requires a specific context that no longer exists due to changes in NFL rules.
Fair enough
I honestly choose Christmas time mostly because it commands your attention, the music is great and the punchlines match the song really well, it's also surprisingly dynamic in how it moves through Santa's workshop

Any answer that's not Freakin' FCC is wrong.
This, I have most of it memorized for some reason.
This will always be the best Family Guy episode to me.
Yeah. That's a really good one. I'd agree.
My favorite too, I used to use the name LandoGriffin on AIM back in high school.
I like Down Syndrome girl

why is plagiarism worse than being original?
Are you from China, by any chance?
I like Seth's covering classic songs, but people should hear the original (and watch the whole movie)

Unpopular opinion but Christmas time is killing us is kinda neat

Christmastime is Killing Us is my favorite. As far as I know, it's an original number, and the lyrics and visuals are both appropriately haunting.
I haven't watched for 10 years, but I have a fondness for A Bag of Weed.
