Not worth the hype. Overly long. Most were disappointed it wasn't very much about the bomb. And even when it was about the bomb it was disappointing. When they showed the first nuke test it looked pathetic
Honestly I've seen gas station explosions that were more impressive. As I said, not worth the hype
There is a line in the film where Oppenheimer says it will be completely unlike any other explosive, because its not a chemical explosion. Yet when they show the atomic blast they just did a Michael Bay gasoline fireball. The real atomic blast was not red and orange because, as they say, it's not a chemical explosion. It was a bright grey blast with arcs of purple lightning that filled the sky. It was very disappointing to me that they didn't reproduce that arresting image.
I wouldn't trust the eye witnesses who watched it either with bleached retinas or through welder's goggles. All color films of tests show orange fireballs. Also, somebody describing lighting could be their eyes getting photopsia.
The stuff on the planets was cool, and I really liked how it showed just how utterly alien an alien world can be. But it just kept going back to his family over and over, and I DID NOT care about them, like at all.
The part where it cuts from the video feed of adult Murph to actual Murph always forces a huge sigh out of me, and I think >oh yeah, I'm watching THAT movie
Still don't like the editing. Visually boring and not worth the hype let alone the hype it got for using IMAX. You hear them talking so much about acting being the focal point of using the IMAX cameras as a benefit but every shot seemed fleeting. Also why is it that every Nolan film since Interstellar seems have a green hue. I know he's color blind and has changed DP's but it just looks so drab. Cillian wasn't anything special and shouldn't get a nomination. A very surface level analysis, if you can call it that, of all the issues that arise in that period so there's not much to analyze. It's very much a rollercoaster history ride with loud music. The Social Network was better. Nuff said.
>It's very much a rollercoaster history ride with loud music.
I think he only cares about the audiovisual experience these days with Dunkirk and Tenet (don't try to understand it; experience it).
Would have liked more focus on the project management aspect of running the Manhattan Project, the stuff with Strauss was extraneous and unnecessary. Should have been 30 minutes shorter. Ok, but not great, and I was really surprised that I enjoyed Barbie more.
it could've done without any of the romance moments with emily blunt and florence pugh. all of the scenes with those two actresses only extended the runtime of the film in an unnecessary way, but it was a bit fun to see pugh's ever-so-slightly saggy breasts.for a minute. 7/10, would've been 8 or higher without said scenes.
I forgot to turn my cell phone off in the theater and it went off when he was making the speech on VJ Day to the cheering crowd and ruined the only interesting part of this entire film.
pretty meh, the bomb is more interesting than his life and surrounding politics, they focused on the wrong stuff. also pretty weak performance from iron man, but the writing probably had a lot to do with that
good movie but far from perfect
I came away from it wishing it was two different works intead of the bloated, confusing mess Nolan made
One: a high budget miniseries about Los Alamos and the Manhatten project that shows the perspectives of multiple scientists
Two: a short court room drama focused on Oppenheimer's security clearance "trial"
Didn't watch it, but it's probably the same propaganda slop as always. >we've just brutally murdered thousands of civilians in cold blood, but let me explain how *we* are the real victims of this tragedy
I watched it. It was, but like in a totally serious, gloating note >see, we are not war criminals for bombing civilians, might makes right, we are winners, suck it U S A , U S A
which is based
I’m 40 min in and it’s garbage so far. Best actor so far is Josh Hartnett lol. Hate the editing, hate the overbearing music. And the cuts to black and white are pretentious. Hopefully it gets better since it’s three hours
she isnt built like a fridge she is built like a cooler box, and she has flapjack breasts and a wide pudgy face.
So in short, looks like the average modern woman. Which is why women love her.
Serious question though, what was the point of Strauss. Like okay he is a petty vindictive c**t but why cant Nolan understand that he needs to be an actual character for us to care
One hour too long, tectonic pacing, there is not a single line of dialogue in the movie, just very faux-smart monologues people recite at each other incessantly.
Like Dunkirk but instead of "THE BOATS" every 5 seconds its "THE BOMB" and Cillian Murphy doing le tormented stare.
6/10
Florence Pugh was great
Everything else was shit
Gross
low test
That'll do, Pugh
She was pretending to be Scarlett johanson. Worst casting in the movie.
>3kb
I'm going to find you and shit on your bed

the fact that all you care about is the explosion and dont value the expansive dialog throughout the film says alot about you and your taste
>dialog
Nolan can't write humans.
As long as he can frame them. Naked Pugh four stories tall challenged me in ways I enjoyed.

Did it keep spinning or no?
Contender for Nolan's weakest film.
that would be tenet or tdkr.
Tenet is a solid tier or two above this.
tenet was garbage and Oppenheimer was history kino
Interstellar is his weakest
it has more interesting concepts and moments.
The stuff on the planets was cool, and I really liked how it showed just how utterly alien an alien world can be. But it just kept going back to his family over and over, and I DID NOT care about them, like at all.

>oh yeah, I'm watching THAT movie
it introduced me to the concept of time dilation and i thought that was cool.
all nolan movies are trash, empty filler.
the prestige is solid.
movie of the year
7.5-8/10
Best film of the year.
It bombed
It was average until the MCU JFK scene.

He describes himself as a "technician" so that makes sense.
well, he should remove the dialogue next and go full audiovisual.
>every Nolan film since Interstellar seems have a green hue
Sounds like you've only seen digital versions.
another israelite version of history biopic slop
Most Nazis were trans
Would have liked more focus on the project management aspect of running the Manhattan Project, the stuff with Strauss was extraneous and unnecessary. Should have been 30 minutes shorter. Ok, but not great, and I was really surprised that I enjoyed Barbie more.
Shit

boring. its just people talking in one room the whole movie.
the initial nuclear explosion tried to have tension but you know it will work.
nolan is a hack
I forgot to turn my cell phone off in the theater and it went off when he was making the speech on VJ Day to the cheering crowd and ruined the only interesting part of this entire film.
It's shit but people complaining about a biopic on a pervert having a lot of sex in it are fricking moronic.
All sex scenes are pointless
A needless sex scene that ruined the vibe of the whole thing.

Shouldn’t have started the war or at least fought less shit
a complete drag
I skipped to the end after the bomb exploded
it really has nothing going for it
oppenwhiner.
5/10
Is so good that everyone always talked about it when it came out and then nobody talked about it again until it was for sale on digital.
Obvious shill threads
nolan's best film
OPPENHEIMER STYLE!!!!!
I’m 40 min in and it’s garbage so far. Best actor so far is Josh Hartnett lol. Hate the editing, hate the overbearing music. And the cuts to black and white are pretentious. Hopefully it gets better since it’s three hours
The movie sucked so fricking much, it was fricking hilarious. Also, the movie confirms that israelites are not to be trusted, which was based
All incels will die early of obesity, suicide, or in prison
Florence pughs have that funny shape where they look like they need air pumped into them
she isnt built like a fridge she is built like a cooler box, and she has flapjack breasts and a wide pudgy face.
