i liked the love guru
i liked battlefield earth
israeli influence on cinema has been better than it has been bad
It has been both. In the past, there has been some good influence, particularly in comedy, like Mel Brooks, Rodney Dangerfield, ZAZ movies, etc, and there have been good directors like Kubrick and Jodorowsky. On the other hand, current Hollywood is shit also thanks to the israelites. So it's more of a generational thing.
600 dead and counting btw.
Son of the mask is better than the mask
Citizen Kane sucked
I wouldn't say it sucked, but I was really expecting a mind blowing experience and it felt just like any other ok movie.
The movie is more lauded for its cinematography which was revolutionary. The story is what it is and certainly won't influence zoomers either way
Pleb.
Kubrick didn't make anything worthwhile after Dr Strangelove.
Paul Dano is okay, but I wouldn’t call him classic.
Kilmer is the single best portrayal of Bruce within the entire franchise.
This is exactly how socially autistic and romantically stunted I would fully expect a person who grew up like Bruce to be.
I continue to defend this stance with friends to this day.
on that note, i really like batman & robin
i love how toyetic it is
Kilmer was fine
tommy lee jones ruined that movie
Kilmer kills it in nearly every role he gets. The problem wasn't him but the writers, directors producers, and other actors that ruin the shit around him. When they all work out he looks even beter.
Man I love Batman Forever. Second best Batman theme too after Mask of the Phantasm
I think Scarface is boring.
This is true, and applies to like every boomer crime movie. They’re all long and boring as shit. The Sopranos mogs every one of them on a tv budget.
I don't even agree with that, I like the Godfather for example. I just really don't find Scarface interesting.
Same
1932 is far superior.
Do you mean an opinion that is incidentally contrarian, ie you merely happen to believe something unpopular, or one that is consciously motivated in part by contrarianism, ie you desire to stand out with an unpopular opinion?
Regardless my answer is that Christopher Nolan is an overrated writer and director who's entire filmography that I've seen, everything from Memento to Dark Knight Rises, has little artistic or entertainment value
Just that you hold a contrary position to what is the popular stance, and it's your actual belief and not just adopted to be some sort of snowflake.
Dark Knight had a great performance by Heath Ledger but otherwise was a piece of shit movie, with mopey dope y batman, comically silly Harvey Dent, and a completely senseless plot set up just to go from one set piece to another
People tend to group directors into "always good" but honestly most of the big directors have both good and bad movies.
I enjoyed every single Marvel, DC, Star Wars, Fast & Furious and even Twilight movie more than Citizen Kane, Casablanca, 2001 and other "classic masterpieces".
that's not contrarian, that's 99% of the population.
>"contrarian"
>literally a popular NPC opinion, shared by the hive-mind of all the other NPCs that laped capeshit up
I don't think it's the best one, but it's really not bad.
The kid is a fricking mary sue in this, the level of DIY trapping he reaches
Oh please, Kevin did some insane shit in both of his movies as well.
yeah but the villains in 1/2 were just some random hobos but in 3 they were meant to be professionals
>just some random hobos
The Wet Bandits were career criminals. While Marv was a bit dim, that was made up for by...I can't remember his name's planning.
You got them mixed up. Marv was the smart one, and Harry was the moron.
In 3 he does things which are physically impossible for a kid
Yeah but Kevin was acted by Steve Buscemi and he looks smart. This kid looks dumb
The third movie has a parrot driving a toy car into an igloo and lighting a fuse. The first two movies never got anywhere near that level of moronicness.
The first HA is fine
The second has literal toon physics in it.
Never saw the third but it’s clear that the only one worth anything and having any kind of soul is the first movie.
This is true. HA2 just became WAY too cartoony, which I suppose is to be expected from a sequel.
If you think the second movie is cartoony, you're simply not ready for the third one.
Home alone 3 was kino mostly because how hot alice was and it was hot to see her be tortured and when her pants ripped
The mom was hot too.
And scarjo
7 year old me would agree , it had the best traps .
The Lego Movie is overrated shit.
That's because you watched the wrong one
I didn't think X-Men 3: The Last Stand was that bad in and of itself.
That's not a contrarian opinion. A contrarian opinion would be that The Last Stand was better than any of the McAvoy X-Men with the possible exception of Apocalypse which is the best of the McAvoy films.
If I had to rank them it would probably go like:
X2 > X1 > Last Stand > Apocalypse > The Wolverine > Days of Future Past > Logan > Origins > First Class > Dark Phoenix
Also Age of Ultron is a better movie than Avengers 1 and Endgame.
These are all my honest opinions btw.
It really isn't the best but it is leagues above any Home Alone that came after it.
It doesn't deserve the hate but calling it better than 1 is wrong and debatably even 2
Die Hard is just ok, kinda boring. The "le christmas movie" thing is also cringe, even though I've seen few times around christmas, because friends wanted to watch.
Kino
Theres a difference between being a contrarian and a moron.
The levels of SOVL and comfyness of the first 2 are enough to beat the third one by a mile, let alone the acting, story etc
My first ever fap was to Alice when she had the icepack on her head
I love it the most too. I realize that the first 2 are better, but I had only this one on a VHS and probably watched it 50+ times as a kid
> Whats the most contrarian opinion you genuinely have?
Age of consent should be 35
Scifi and fantasy are very overrated
Horror is dumb
Jannies are diaper furgay pefos
I fricking hated There Will Be Blood. Seriously one of the most boring pieces of shit movies that I ever sat through. The whole time I’m wondering why anyone gives a shit, oil man finds oil and lies, everyone around him is a fricking butthole too, he treated his kid like shit and neglected him constantly and then the twist is it’s not even his kid, which was not surprising and the kid would be happy about it anyway since he’s an butthole. I didn’t care what happened to any of the characters and almost nothing happened the entire movie anyway
>twist
literally the first scene, zoomer
easily the best entry in the series
its impressive what was enough to warrant a fap from me as a kid, the bit in this where he peels the sticky notes off the topless girl poster in his brothers room and you see maybe a smidge of sideboob for 1 second was enough to put it in the wankbank for later that night just thinking about a bit of sideboob in Home Alone 3
Alien was the perfect movie and Aliens ruined the franchise forever from that point on.
This is also true for Dead Space and Dead Space 2.
literallly the most boomer opinion you can have
It is
Steven Spielberg hasn't made a good movie since 2004
Martin Scorsese hasn't made a good movie since 2006
Christopher Nolan hasn't made a good movie since 2008
Quentin Tarantino hasn't made a good movie since 2012
Zack Snyder hasn't made a good movie
The matrix sequels are terrible and not worth watching
Mortal Kombat (1995) is extremely underrated and the best video game movie of all time
Pirates of the Caribbean 1/2 are actually really good but 3 onwards are terrible
Phantom Menace is leagues above AOTC and ROTS, all EU is dogshit moronic and gay (yes even your favorite cartoon/book/comic)
>Steven Spielberg hasn't made a good movie since 2004
The Adventures of Tintin was ok.
>Martin Scorsese hasn't made a good movie since 2006
The Departed is an overrated ripoff of Infernal Affairs and the only good thing about Gangs of New York was Daniel Day-Lewis. The last good Scorsese movie was Casino in 1995.
>Christopher Nolan hasn't made a good movie since 2008
2014. Interstellar is Nolan's second best film after Memento.
>Quentin Tarantino hasn't made a good movie since 2012
Reservoir Dogs is Tarantino's only good movie. Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill are all style and no substance. Jackie Brown was ok but boring and forgettable. Everything else is white guilt porn.
>Zack Snyder hasn't made a good movie
He made one good movie. 300.
>The matrix sequels are terrible and not worth watching
None of the Matrix movies are worth watching.
>Mortal Kombat (1995) is extremely underrated and the best video game movie of all time
Super Mario Bros(1993), Street Fighter, the first Resident Evil and Silent Hill, Doom, Warcraft and Rampage are all worth watching. I wouldn't go so far as to call them good movies but they're entertaining and better than most of the shit Hollywood pumps out.
>Pirates of the Caribbean 1/2 are actually really good but 3 onwards are terrible
What makes 3 terrible?
>Phantom Menace is leagues above AOTC and ROTS
This is a true contrarian opinion because everybody knows ROTS is objectively the best movie of the prequels.
>all EU is dogshit moronic and gay (yes even your favorite cartoon/book/comic)
KOTOR 1 and 2 are the best things to come out of Star Wars.
>pulp fiction and kill bill bad
>300 good
lmao ok moron
Star Wars was always absolute garbage, and its weird that people argue about original or new movies, when they were always shit
As a child I had a crush on him and Jake Loyd.
Waterworld goes to shit at the first big action scene.
I liked It's Pat: The Movie
Film is a passive media and can never rise to the level of literature. People who never read and only watch movies/television are low IQ.
I hate to break it to you but literature is equally passive so I hope your IQ thing is backed by something else.
>sitting on the couch staring at a screen that shows you images
>having to rely on your own mind to translate the abstractions of the written word into a narrative
Sorry, moron. Film is a passive medium whereas literature is not. There's basically one argument you can try: there are examples of engaging films and examples of less engaging engaging novels. However, in the end you're still staring at a screen taking audio/visual dictation versus using your own brain to construct from pure abstraction.
Want to reword the above greentext to be about sitting in a chair reading a book and ignore the point? If the truth hurts too much feel free to go ahead--i don't expect very much creativity from someone who stares at a screen and doesn't read.
>an unemployed loser who reads books all day isn't better than one who watches marvel slop
The key concept here is "unemployed loser." I'd rather have a conversation with an unemployed high IQ loser who reads than an unemployed high IQ loser who can explain the MCU in autistic detail.
>abstractions of the written word into a narrative
This applies to a narrative fiction regardless of medium and has nothing to do with whether it's "active" or "passive". Passive/active as it relates to media describes only the extent to which someone interacts with it. You cannot interact with literature since it's already written; the reader cannot influence it in any way. What is active is American Idol, assuming you call in your vote. So I guess doing that makes you smarter than someone that spends every waking moment of their free time watching chess championships.
IQ means nothing unless you do something with it, an unemployed loser who reads books all day isn't better than one who watches marvel slop
>people are nostalgia blind for home alone 3
zoomies are moronic
>zoomers
Home Alone 3 came out in 1997, moron.
Chamber of Secrets is the best Harry homosexual movie
EXPERIMENTAL
I like Bio-Dome, or do people not hate that one anymore?
Breaking Bad isn't that good.
the bad news bears original and remake are basically documentaries of american youth sports idk if this is contrarian or just a fact also depending on the area you will find it doesnt cover it well enough
Neill Blomkamp makes horrible movies. Every single one is absolute trash.
