I've been told to be nice my whole life Be nice, be polite, be nice, treat everyone equally. And I was nice, so much so that I even got the quite embarrassing "Most Polite" award back in school, twice.
Being "nice" was just ingrained in my being and I can't help it, so much so of that I became incapable of flirting/showing sexual interest towards women without feeling as if I'm being extremely rude to them.

Look I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this, but you're either ugly and/or weird. If people refer to you as creepy then you're doing something that's physically off-putting. Go to the gym, go outside, and get used to talking to people IRL instead of looming around silently like a weirdo.
I already lift, go outside and don't have much problems with talking to pretty much anyone.
The issue is in getting anywhere past mere talking, with girls especially. It just eternally stays in the polite small talk territory
I'll tell you my advice and experience. I had very bad self esteem growing up, only fairly recently that I've (mostly) gotten over it and I've been told by numerous girls I've dated that, despite my low self image, they either liked me for a long time before happenstance actually brought us together, and /or they knew a lot of other girls (coworkers and such) who had a thing for me. Women really, really don't tend to approach men. In the rare event that they do they'll often use a friend as an intermediary. May not be fair but it's true, you'll need to make the first move and at the end of the day that involves taking some risk in the sense that they may not feel the same way. Just has to be done.
It's a difficult cycle to break because it *is* a cycle with no obvious entry point, at least for me. It wasn't until I started attracting attention from and getting laid by high tier women fairly frequently that I started to believe I was worth something - and yet it was necessary for me to feel I was worth something, to START getting laid. I had the serendipity of one of those rare instances I described where the girl approached me first, that was my entry point, but you can't always count on that.
As far as being polite, don't write it off. I never thought of myself as deliberately flirting, I was just polite and playful and reliable around cute women and that eventually elevates you in their esteem. It may not get you the most pussy by volume but it does filter out undesirable ones in favor of the ones with good taste.
Beyond that, things definitely started improving for me when I lost weight, exercised and ate better, and that shit is easy so if you're not already doing that you're shooting yourself in the foot.

The average modern zillenial "man" is overly emotional, wallows in his self-diagnosed "mental illnesses," obsessed with consumer knick-knacks, financially irresponsible, spends zero hours a week exercising, and dresses like however the hip-hop industrial complex tells him he should. The bar has never been lower.
