The reason why it doesn't exist anymore is because culturally this style existed due to poeple copying anime and manga as it was entering the cultural ecosystem in the 90s and 2000s. It is a reactionary style based on shift in the market. Such a style doesn't really exist anymore because Japanese media is now established in the marketplace of ideas. It can't exist since such a style is based on a fledgling anime community which doesn't really exist anymore.
Yeah. It's a style based on a certain period discovering anime. If you want more of this the best way is to identify the artists behind works and search for their stuff. Chances are they have some small scale project going on.
