While being hung up on Diagnosis is an issue in mental health spaces. I think we need to recognize that "normal" and "mentally ill" are not incompatible statements.
In the same way it would be normal for someone to bleed our if they were stabbed, it would normal for someone who suffered from a traumatic incident to be traumatized by it.
The takeaway from treatment shouldn't be "Oh you're just out of your mind" but "X things happened which led to Y behaviors from your brain . What can we do about that to make your life more enjoyable?"
