I'm not saying it's bad, in fact, it's pretty good. But what's with every terminally-online loser losing their shit over it and treating it like it's the best thing ever? Is it because they lack a stable family relationship and they watch this to get that feeling?
Here? Childlessness millennials using this to simulate having children.
Other places? Just parents watching it with their kids.
>Other places? Just parents watching it with their kids.
As someone in the small minority of anons who actually has kids, it's pretty much this. I will say most parents I know actually enjoy watching Bluey vs dealing with because their kids like it. I think why it's so popular with parents is because it isn't completely mind numbing and it has moments that exclusively relatable to parents (i.e. when Coco's mom tells Chili she's doing a great job in Baby Race).
I think you make a good point. It's one of the reasons I think MLP really took off too. A lot of girl shows were so fricking mind numbing when a well done one came along people took notice. With Bluey it's the same but with baby shows. It doesn't talk down to its audience and people outside of the target group are drawn in as a result.
I'm of course disregarding the autists and mentally unwell here. I mean among normal people.
>A lot of girl shows were so fricking mind numbing when a well done one came along people took notice.
It wasn't just girl shows, it was pretty much every animated series at the time.
>It's one of the reasons I think MLP really took off too.
One of the core design principles of MLP was to make the show enjoyable for parents as well as kids and I'm honestly surprised that over a decade later there's only been one other little kids' show that's attempted the same thing. Maybe now that the idea has massively exploded twice somebody might actually notice that it's a good idea.
>Other places? Just parents watching it with their kids.
True, but only 5% false (statistics pulled from my ass). I have seen people outside of here say it’s their comfort show or fawn endlessly over characters. It’s not often I see it, but it’s there. Usually they’re in their 20s or younger.
I think people more implant themselves as the kids to experience a healthy childhood for a brief moment.tnvnvb
Actually a lot of them watch it as a form of wishing they had a dad like Bandit
>daddy issues and empty homes
Jesus this fandom is sad.
horse show 2.0
This
Standards for preschool cartoons are show low that seeing them acknowledge topics like death, religion, and miscarriages is novel. And doing so with respect and intellectual honesty. Most modern media is utterly soulless and has no humanity or willingness to send any real message with conviction. To people are attracted to one that does.
Not even close in the slightest.
Nah, it's pretty close. It's just more socially acceptable despite being aimed at a younger audience.
Bullshit homosexual. And it doesn’t even have a fraction of the fan content that mlp had even a decade ago. Unless g6 happens and is the most kino shit ever, nothing is ever going to top mlp.
Fan content isn't the end all be all of popularity.
It is in terms of representing how much fans care about the show.
Are you saying people DON'T care about Bluey?
NTA but it’s hilarious how quickly you misrepresented his position
What's to represent? He's using an abritary standard to deflect compairsons to MLP and its fanbase.
Were you on this board in 2010? Bluey may be spiritually similar, but it hasn’t had the same kind of cultural effects. His point wasn’t arbitrary.
He's saying more people cared about MLP at it's peak. Which checks out.
Because MLP had more time to reach its peak, from what I can tell "peak" Bluey hasn't been reached yet
>standards for preschool shows
How about standards for all fricking shows?
>Blueygay trying not to be pretentious challenge (IMPOSSIBLE)
>pretentious
>Using words that a well adjusted college educated adult would use to describe why a show is described as good is now seen as talking down to others.
Yeah I can understand why this board is full of moronic homosexuals.
>well adjusted college educated adult would
Suck yourself off some more
I will continue to suck myself off vehemently. Sorry that your mom drank too much during pregnancy so that you came out moronic.
There is no source. They are just describing why the show is good. Do you act this way when reading articles or at a conference with keynote speakers? Makes sense why you low iq gays stay here
Least mentally ill blueygays
I’m not even talking about the show. I’m laughing at you and everyone else on this board who think using vocabulary above a 4th grade level is considered pretentious lmao. Bunch of Dion waiters level intellects around here
I haven’t even watched the show, assooomer.
>Source: my ass
You'll grow out of it one day
God I would fap to chilis miscarriage
I’ve seen this take unfairly said about a lot of things, but this time there are actually a few parallels.
How long until a two hour essay on how it's not as good as it used to be?
When the creator stops being the sole writer for the show and hands it off to Disney so he can keep rolling in the money
I'm pretty sure the ABC isn't going to sell it to someone else.
Not insane enough yet
Give it a few more years.
Are people making Bluey-sonas and OCs yet?
You tell me
Try "months". This one is from TheOdd1sOut
Looks generic
Has anybody "married" to a bluey character or written a love letter to them? Because that is the kind of stuff some fans of the horse show used to do.
Is that saberspark?
Korrect
You really don't to play this game.
Oh I'm getting some "no real mother" vibes
People always strawman bluey fans as horse fans, but in my experience as one of the few people here that touches grass, most of the people I meet in the real world that vocally like bluey are pretty normal vs. autistic weirdos that watched horse show. The only parallel is that it's a children's show with an adult fan base, which is far from rare. People are just bored and want something to hate. It's like Cinemaphile and tortanic.
This is the same cope horse fans used in the early days when comparing themselves to Sonic fans
see you in two more years
I think people forget early into the horse rodeo there was a big to do about gatekeepers horsefrickers and presenting it as a normal interest based on the shows good writing.
>NO this is JUST LIKE HORSE SHOW
Cope. Normies love bluey t. sex haver
No, parents love Bluey, and mostly because it's not just noise like other preschool fare. Anyone who watches Bluey and isn't a parent, is not a normie.
COPE
O
P
E
try touching grass and talking to normies about bluey. You'd be surprised.
Anyone uses "cope" like this and throwing a tantrum about one show made for children being compared to another show made for children isn't a normie, and is in no position to tell anyone to "touch grass"
>unlike you, I watch cartoons made for big boys
Yeah go touch grass, homosexual.
>tantrum
I just think it's funny that people here pretend to know the opinions of what normal people like based on literally nothing but their own schizoid delusions. It's fun to rile those sorts of people up knowing you are empirically in the right. Keep on believing what you wanna believe, tho.
Anon, no normal functional adult is watching Bluey or that invested in it if they don't have children. It's a good show, but let's pretend it's anything is other than that, and its fanbase is a mirror to MLPs' when it was gaining steam.
Again, this is demonstrably false. I know you REALLY want another horse show, but that isn't the case here. Try that Eleanor show, those people give me weird vibes.
American politics are a joke.
i don't think bluey will ever be meme-able the same way horseshow was
>parents love Bluey
Of course they love it, they love anything that distracts the kids. Just don't pretend they're invested in it themselves, you're simply delusional if you believe that.
>as one of the few people here that touches grass
kek
Not even remotely.
Let me put it this way.
Within the first two years of MLP airing, there was a dedicated convention, multiple fan websites, massive amounts of fan animations and fan fictions, and the spam got so bad here that it got its own dedicated board that even today, after all this time while MLP’s popularity has faded, the mods still leave up.
I have not seen anything of that level with Bluey. Even with COVID forcing everyone inside and staying on the internet, Bluey’s prevalence doesn’t even hold a candle to ponies in their heyday.
Fricking exactly. I think the people trying to force the Bluey fandom as this ultra popular boogeyman are secretly nostalgic for those old autistic days and want to relive it somehow.
I wish Bluey could get to that point. I'm not bothered by things being popular and enjoy floods of OC that people make
Things will be really autistic soon in the next years.
It will not the same thing as bronies but that's the fun of it, if it would be a replica of that it would be boring
What's the horse show?
I tried searching it up but only got horse shows irl
Go read the rules and you might find a clue.
Why hasn't this gotten it's own containment board, then? Horse Show's fandom still hadn't reached it's apex of weirdness, just random shitposts, when it got contained.
I got into it when my kids watched. Its got digs for adults even if theyre extremely extra to their kids and their daughters are brats. Its good story tellijg
Craig mccracken praised it, i guess that contributed a bit
A excuse to rebooting Foster's into some toddler shit, which he made for his daughter
>inb4 Vinesauce gay shows how much he loves the blue dog show
>vinesauce
What are you talking about? Mistype?
Not as much as mlp. it’s still gets a lot of fan content, just most of it is in algorithm hell. Bluey just hasn’t garnered the same type and quantity of fanatics as mlp did. How many current fans of the show do you think will still care much about it ten years from now?
Because Bluey is only 4 years old, not based a three decade old franchise with a negative stigma surrounding it, and people only really started taking notice last year.
No shit it isn't the mega juggernaut MLP was in its heyday, but not lack trying.
See above, but the effect is the same, and the fanbase is a mirror of it
I should know, I was a horsefricker back in the day
Mlp:fim was significantly different from its predecessors. And those had little to no impact on the growth of the fandom for g4, since they were largely completely uncared for and/or shit. Which is what the franchise has returned to with g5. Minus the brain dead consumers left over from g4 and the troons who also don’t care and just want to consume cutesy childish slop.
I'm not saying it didn't, but G4 had the perfect storm of growth in retrospect and was actually pretty good for the first couple of sesons
I'm just saying Bluey is on the same trajectory.
What you previously said does not relate at all to how mlp grew. It’s previous gens had little if any impact in the popularity of g4. It was a good show that got snowballed by the shit ton of content produced by its lightning in the bottle fandom. Pretty sure g4 is what caused the term “fan of the fandom” to be coined.
But it did though, literally nobody had faith in it, and watched when it first aired, then it just blew up from there. Bluey didn't get that luxary until later, but the effect was the same. And "fans of the fandom" was something anyone actually respected, and was term of mockery.
That means it succeeded in spite of its reputation, but because of it. And would have potentially grown faster if the franchise wasn’t of poor quality before. the fact that it was technically part of a long standing franchise despite having little in common with previous iterations had no causal role in G4’s growth.
Your telling of how events played out is also inaccurate. It’s not as those who were interested in cartoons did not have the information available to them about the competent writers and staff behind the show. on Cinemaphile at the time people largely gave the show a frank judgment.
And I was making that point off handedly about fans of the fandom to demonstrate its influence.
Also, nobody's using Bluey as a troll weapon, so there's less content there, as well.
it's comfy, soothing and funny. and yeah, my family is fine enough but there was a lot of tension and fighting growing up so it's nice to see a family that interacts in a healthy way
its healing my childhood trauma leave me alone
Idk bros bluey is prime cool bait
Where are these Bluey cultists online? Where can I find them? All I find is people complaining about a fandom with no actual presence.
just found out my old classmate also watches this as a fellow animator
It gives the comfies and i also want to have children yes :3
I'm just saying guys chili's miscarriage coulda been hot. Maybe if she was raped at 9 months like 2 weeks before the due date, I just think that would be hot like fuuuuug. Maybe bluey got molested by a teacher or something, I mean she already sounds moronic maybe that's the reason. But back to chili's miscarriage why would the show even bring it up if not for sexual reasons.
It’s obvious that Chili and Brandy just have a genetic disposition towards tomb womb.
>It's one of the few shows for kids that is not woke, pozzed, or has a political agenda.
This would be considered satire, an exaggeration, and comedic.
Because you are an American, you now believe this is someones identity. Absolutely fricking sad.
Believe it or not, there was a time grown men crossdressing in children's cartoons was seen as goofy and not a legitimate identity that we all had to worship.
Cry harder homosexual. You are a manchild for showing interest in a literal toddlers show and nothing will change that.
>calls someone a manchild on the Cinemaphile board
Pot calling the kettle black
Yes, please tell me how you are such a big boy because you jerked off to spider verse instead. The movie that also had a lot of children watching
>He thinks something made for all ages like a spiderman movie is somehow comparable to a show made for and only babies
Fricking lmao the absolute cope
>for all ages
Capeshitter wants to believe that his movie for all ages LMAO. It has been and always will be for children first and foremost. Trying to pull the “for everyone” card is the peak of cope. Just accept that you are a manchild homosexual like everyone else
>Unironic baby shows watcher tries to drag down other forms of entertainment to his level
As expected lol. Keep gaslighting yourself
>unironic baby show watcher
Yes that describes Spider-Man fans very well. Again, cartoons are for children yet you want to b***h and moan about how adult you are watching capeshit. So delusional lmao
I never suggested capeshit was for adults, I explicitly said "all ages" right there. But of course you're an mentally stunted manchild who doesn't know how age demographics work and lump everything into "it's for children" to cope his autistic preferences lol
Didn’t I just say that the “for all ages” shit was a cope that you capegays stick to so you don’t look like autists? You should pay attention.
>age demographics
That hurts your argument even more lmao. Are you a child between 13-16? No? Then Spider-Man and all this capeshit isn’t for you. If you do watch it, you are a manchild just like everyone else here yet you still want to make the claim that you are somehow exempt because this show is for younger audiences while your movie is still for kids.
>romanticism
lol for what, that time they were typical australian families?
Define typical australian family
Bunch of meth head morons talking about the cricket and Sheila going out to get another fake tan
Just watch the show? These are standard character types.
A typical australian family is the one that never goes to work, sits with the kids 24/7 and never has arguments or problems? Then why is australia still such a shithole
I'm not sure what point you think you're making, but you appear to be super mad about something.
>No arguments
Okay, I didn't need further proof that you're talking out of your ass but alright.
You haven't made an actual argument, so of course you don't get one back. Not sure why you're having a meltdown over the idea that a public broadcast channel show aimed at Australian children might depict a family using basic Australian character types.
this is how I imagine the fanbase
>60% of it are kids
>40% of it are adults (two categories)
>- 20% watch the show casually without kids, either unironically or ironically, so this category includes just about anyone who isn't a parent that's watched the show
>- 20% are parents who either watch the show with their kids or became fans of the show AFTER watching with their kids and started watching it on their own (i.e. MatPat, who has a child but binged the entire show after getting interested. OR popular Bluey youtuber Margie who dedicates their channel to discussing the show in depth but also watches it with her own child)
I just watched the first episode and didn't enjoy it at all. It's very much intended for children. Does the rest of the show have that same vibe?
I passed on watching it in the first place because I figured it was like that but thought I'd give it a shot since it's so popular.
First episode actually sucks in comparison to a lot of the better ones. I caught the Mother’s Day episode in a waiting room, and that was what first tipped me into looking up more. But I’ve since discovered that there are a lot of boring baby show tier eps mixed in along with the gems, so bingeing every episode chronologically might be a snoozefest. I just look at episode descriptions and pick what seems interesting, or ones I’ve heard about. There are a few episodes I turned on that I fast forwarded through or didn’t even bother finishing, and they’re only five minutes long. I doubt I’m ever gonna watch the whole thing.
That seems like a good approach. I might just check out the specific episodes everyone raves about.
If you want an accurate of portrayal of parenting in a show and how shitty it can be, watch “the letdown”. That is what Brumm wanted to create in cartoon form but it already existed in live action so he pivoted
>abortion drama/jokes with an aussie accent
Nah I'd rather stay in fantasyland
>anon after making two more bluey threads and acting shoked at them existing to intentionally get a show he doesn't like removed off the board
Literally Horse Show again.
Blue dog
moron
>treating it like it's the best thing ever?
Because it one of the first cartoons in recent years that was made for kids that is not dumbed down.
Idk I don’t think there will be anything else on the internet quite like fans of the tiny pastel colored horse show, and that calling Blueygays the “next horse show fans” is very premature.
Give it a few years, but as of yet I haven’t seen anything that would warrant such a comparison. The similarities are just that both shows were meant for children. Blueygays are weird but calling them the next bronies is a bit early. I think horse show fans were a one time thing and the level of impact they had on the Internet will never be recreated by any other show, video game, whatever.
It's attracting the same people as Rick and Morty and the Horse Show
People who notice a few things that are a little bit clever in the script, feel really good about themselves and then make it their life's mission to tell everyone that it's the greatest thing ever created and much better than what you like which is shit compared to its greatness
It's a shame because it used to be a fun small fandom. Then again I'm sure the horse show was a fun fandom when it first started
Yes, it's THIS that's getting annoying
It's a good show with good writing but it's not this incredible mind-frickingly perfect piece of art, which the annoying frickers who won't shut up about it seem to think
I mean sure it's good but there's this weird idea that everything else is Cocomelon. Either the kids are so they only care about songs and colors or I'd much rather they watched Hilda
>Either the kids are so they
Either the kids are so YOUNG they
>used to be a fun small fandom
Stopped reading there.
But it's true.
Sex with Wendy.
Some people just like watching cute, comfy shit. Same reason Ted Lasso got big.
I doordash in between projects for the extra cash flow, I once saw an unironic altar for Bluey in a family home. In the living room with over 100 Bluey plushes pristinely organized
I can confirm it is in fact horse show 2.0
This show gives me a lot of feelings, which most shows have a hard time doing nowadays.
Did you HAVE to bump all the fricking preschool dog show threads from page 10
The other bump wasn't me. But yes, because you trannies for some reason consider these threads worthy of getting asshurt over, which I find hilarious. Can't get enough of that Spiderman, though.
Yes.
Autism
Yeah?
Can just say as a horse show fan that while this looks harmless and sweet, it doesn't really interest me much personally. Don't see myself watching it.
I do see the parallels forming overall however.
What parallels?
Referring back to the whole "horse show 2.0" thing this thread has going.
Don't get me mistaken, I can't see it reaching that level of fandom, but its certainly building up.
Maybe it just needs more time.
Because its good.
Its reach also goes beyond that of just the terminally online, or those with kids. Some of my friends at church's couples group watch it too, even those without kids.
It deserves the love it gets tbh
The show has good/clever writing, isn't annoying to parents, and isn't complete brain rot.
Anything that started out good will always attract corruption fetishist.
>corruption fetishist
...what
The thought of perverting something innocent (like bluey) turns internet weirdos on.
How did MLP cause such rampant butthurt that this image it still relevant.
Because it superseded whatever was popular at the time. It got all the attention. I think the term is "Jealousy"? It get slung around here a lot, when people like a thing you don't like.
For a show with supposedly stratospheric popularity and autistic fans, these threads sure are slow and shitty, living for days because they're bumped from page 7-10 over and over by one or two autists talking to themselves
People don't seem any more eager to talk about Bluey than something niche like Summer Camp Island
>Summer Camp Island
And that is?
A cartoon with six seasons
All the good discussion went to /trash/. Bluey threads were consistently hitting bump limit prior to that, and now here it's just all troll threads.
It's a toddler show that isn't too obnoxious to watch for parents. That's pretty much it. It's the same reason why Veggie Tales was so popular back in the day.
I heard this was like a western (australian) Yotsubato, is that true?
What's Yotsubato?
This site’s mascot.
You reddit immigrants really need to lurk moar.
I know who Yotsuba is, but not Yotsubato.
Ok
It's really not very much like Yotsubato!, no. Both have a father's relationship with a little girl at their center but that's about it. If Bluey were just about Bingo it might get to a similar place but Bluey is older, way more energetic and way less cute than Yotsuba is. Bluey is a lot less funny and less unpredictable too.
It's not that Bluey is bad or anything, but Yotsubato! is just in its own league
Haha blue dog
And orange dog
And red dog
A bluey thread that's still up?? Neato
Can't wait for when the show tackles different beliefs
This episode of bluey is called Jihad! It was cute to see bingo and muffin dress up as eco terrorists in stumpfest to save the stump
Funny thing is Bluey probably would know who Jesus. They hinted bandit family Catholic.
There should be a crossover episode where Bandit is cloned and his clone goes to Clone High.
>There should be a crossover episode where Bandit is cloned and his clone goes to Clone High.
It would be a clone of Bluey. An Australian dog that lived to be 29 years old
Bandit would fit in better. Also there could be clones of Wendy and Chili and Pat. Bandit would be JFK.
If Bluey was cloned it could work if she was Ghandi. Then Mackenzie could be Abe.
I started watching this show with my wife, she took the pill and said I'd like it, so I started watching it with her.
-Even before starting the show I've seen pics here, I can't get over the poptart shaped character designs. Lovely backgrounds and colors, but these dogs look odd as frick. Legs always look detached from the rest of the body. Front profiles look weird because they have side-snout and at least one eye pupil is always blocked.
-There is no reason to start the episode, get into the show, and a minute in announce the name of the episode. Do that shit after the ending credits roll. Even then, its not needed, what the episode is going to be about is pretty obvious.
-The child voice acting is surprisingly well done, but man their voice sometimes get on my nerves.
-Blue is blue, no frilly eyelashes, I always keep thinking its a boy.
-I almost feel the kids should be aged up to 8 and 6 they seem to young sometimes to me.
All that aside, it hasn't won me over quiet yet. Not terrible, but not over the top good. I will say this - this show has me never want to have kids. It's exhausting to be a good parent, poor bandit he's always in play mode all the time. I could never do that. Good thing we never wanted kids but man, I for sure would never want t.hem
Agreed on every point except wanting to age them up. Nothing wrong with the ages chosen.
It's worth sticking around for the outstanding episodes like Sleepytime and Space but you'll probably never understand the fans who tell you it's the best thing ever
Considering you are already on Cinemaphile, you shouldn’t have kids in the first place
>what's with every terminally-online loser losing their shit over it and treating it like it's the best thing ever
You could name any show ever for this shit, duh.
No lgbt themes (I think)
Not yet.
Eagerly waiting for the episode where Bandit comes out as a trans woman.
>They hinted bandit family Catholic.
Cute.
>Eagerly waiting for the episode where Bandit comes out as a trans woman.
At most, it'll be a scene like
>"Mummy, why does [character made up for the episode] have two daddies?"
It’s actually pretty bigoted to just assume that none of the characters are any of those things. A number of characters could be one or more of those.
I joined a "bandit dad group" on facebook thinking it would be a group discussing cool dad shit, but it was just wierdos obsessed with the show, going to marraige councilling while getting cucked by their wives and being incapable of basic Cinemaphile.
>cult-like following
Are you sure that's not just the episode "Flat Pack"?
Its the only good show for toddlers.
When is he finally going to get his own spinoff?
I'd rather watch Paw Patrol myself. They're both mediocre but Paw Patrol is cuter. Bluey has some great episodes that are better than any Paw Patrol episode but you also have a high chance of having to sit through Blue Mountains or a Unicorse episode
I've tried watching Paw Patrol, but the toddler-level storytelling was too much to take. At least Bluey doesn't insult an adult watcher's intelligence.
Eh I just see it as earnest and straightforward. When Bluey's good it's really good and its whole gimmick is having adults communicate like adults, which is great. But I dislike the show much more than Paw Patrol when it misses the mark and gets obnoxious, like those episodes or Movies or the takeout one
Oh.
Bluey is awesome, but it's definitely not the only good toddler show.
Bandit
Weirdo adults make me not want to have my daughters watch this show
If you're letting your preschool-age daughters on the internet unsupervised, that's on you.
Horse got globally banned when tumblr raided Cinemaphile.
People forget that the hot topic of the day when horse show started was war on misogyny. Horse show was discovered through a review that called it a cheap advertisement to sell girls toys. It was an example of misogyny, before Cinemaphile latched on to it. The show was specifically popular on Cinemaphile and no where else, gaining the blame that Cinemaphile was watching the show out of spite. tumblr then decided to raid Cinemaphile and try to stop people from enjoying it, which then caused anons to post it more. The back-and-forward got so bad that horse show got completely banned from the site, and only later got it's own board.
Just let the down under meth-heads have this one. They have so little.
Bandit is CUTE
Bandit is love
One (if not the only one) of the few toddler shows that don't treat kids like morons. Unlike Peppa Pig.
