What was the season with Maude's death? I dropped it then and there, but I remember that the whole season and the season before that felt weird, I was just in denial since I was an avid fan of the show back then.
I still remember how the first thing I noticed feeling off where the B plots. They suddenly always ended nowhere, sometimes around the middle of the episode and they were largely nonsensical and lame and I didn't get what happened at first and wanted to believe that it was just me, but at some point the issues weren't ignorable anymore and the Maude episode was like they were slapping everybody in the face who might still be in denial about this so I gave up.
I can make it as far as season 14 before really dipping. I don't consider it part of the golden age though, I think that ended with the first episode of season . The rest of seasons 9 - 14 are still kind of funny in their own ways and there are a few standout gems but they're never nearly as clever as seasons 1 - 8. In my head Behind the Laughter is still the true finale, yeah I know that's a common opinion but frick you there's a reason for that.
I think that ended with the first episode of season 9*, damn sure I hit the 9 key but I guess it didn't take. The City of New York v. Homer Simpson is the last contiguous episode that feels like the golden age to me. Trilogy of Error all the way in Season 12 also bizarrely feels like a golden age episode just floating in the middle of that season.
I binge-watched it recently, and I had a fun time right up to the point where Al Jean took over from Mike Scully.
I know Scully's episodes were one-dimensional and formulaic, but I still found them funny. It's like he knew he couldn't capture the feeling of the golden seasons and instead directed the show to his strengths and sense of humor, which is ultimately better than making a vapid soulless copy of a bygone era, which is what Jean basically did from then on.
It's weird because Jean was one of the classic writers and did some really fricking good episodes, but as soon as he took over the show it went down the tubes fast. I guess without other people to really check him he just didn't work out that well? Fricking insane to me that he's still running the show, just let it fricking go already you butthole.
Al didn't have the same caliber of writing, he had homosexuals like Ian Maxtone-Graham and Tim Long. Also his own sense of humor left unchecked was horribly Reddit.
Fox aired episodes in whatever order here, it's not like I could choose.
And it was mostly seasons 16 to 24 when I was watching. It's entertaining but every time I pick a classic episode I enjoy them more.
It's still enjoyable for a few seasons but a very different show. You more or less have to treat the Scully era as a separate entity wearing the Simpson's skin. If that doesn't appeal to you, watch the first episode of season 9 and then drop it.
Season 9 and 10 have some pretty good episodes in them but aren't as good as the previous seasons. Season 11 is the first season that I think has more bad then good, but there's still a few good jokes per episode. Season 12 and 13 are where you get maybe one or two good episodes per season. I would watch up to season 12 and then find a curated list so you can watch episodes like Trilogy of Error or that one Christmas episode from one of the more recent seasons.
Season 20 or 21.
The movie was the last part I remember ber enjoying, but with the benefit of hindsight I realize that it was the precursor to how mediocre and unfunny the seasons just before it and after were.
Season 20 to 21. You can watch a few stragglers here and there but is when the show stopped kinda giving a frick. You can come back around season 30, tho.
I really like quite a few episodes from last season.Top goon being one of my favorites.
>Ultra butthurt incel spotted, enjoy never getting laid loser >Please females on this site, won't you give me just a crumb of pussy for being a good boi!
You're the only one here trying to impress anyone Redditoid.
I got up until season 8 on DVD but in terms of how enjoyable the shos is, I would say season 11 has both the perfect ending and the best cut-off point. Season 12 and onwards is barely watchable up until season 14 or 15, whatever came before the movie. Then is all zombie Simpsons.
There's always this way male writers deal with a female character that isn't quite full waifuism but you can tell they don't want anything bad happening to them.
Maybe the Tony Hawk one? Idk, it's funny how the Scully Era actually aged kind of well compared to all the shit that happened post-movie. BTW Futurama was always Redditcore, including the Fox seasons
I forgot which season. But I realized after the season in probably 2010, that it would keep going and I was wasting time. I cut both this and Family Guy after that the Season Finale and never went back to religiously watch them. There was a void, but it was worth it.
First episode
Good Night
That one episode where Homer creampies his own butthole
Same.
It was only one episode?
Pics or it didn’t happen.
Season 11, episode 5
Lady Gaga episode. That's when Simpson's stopped being decent background filler and just dull.
It's interesting how S9 is half great and half mid. What's the deal with that?
10th season
First 8 seasons
Then the movie
Then Behind the Laughter

>What was the season with Maude's death
11th. It was indeed a very weak season already.
it really have an odd vibe to it,despite several good and memorable moments
Not sure yet. I didn't care much for season 11 but I enjoyed 12 and 13.
When Bart died.

George Meyer left the show after Season 12, he took a lot of its edge with him.
Season 8 was the start of the decline
Fox aired episodes in whatever order here, it's not like I could choose.
And it was mostly seasons 16 to 24 when I was watching. It's entertaining but every time I pick a classic episode I enjoy them more.
When lisa started becoming the main focus.
The episode after Lisa's Belly; since Lisa became thin again and not keeping big belly permanently for "fat pride" and shit, I'm done with this shit.
Das Bus.
I never go beyond Behind the Laughter.
None. I aint no b***h
the movie
I dont remember, I think it was when ned and edna start dating
Watching through the series for the first time and I'm on season 7. Should I go much further past 8?

didn't read lol incel
Sure you didn't kiddo. Now, why don't you go out and play with your little friends, go go get some sex.
gump roast is when I noticed something was very wrong.
Dunno when I actually stopped caring.
Behind the Laughter, then the movie
The episode Tennis the Menace was when I gave up on the show for a very long time.
if season 25 happened after season 6 you homosexuals would have called every episode a classic
if season 6 happened after season 24 you'd be calling it unwatchable garbage
Nah, you must have no taste at all if you really think that.
The disparity in writing between those seasons is insane and either way it would feel extremely jarring.
moron brainless moron dickhead idiot take
After the Movie
One season after 9/11
That’s when the Simpsons no longer fit the current zeitgeist
I got up until season 8 on DVD but in terms of how enjoyable the shos is, I would say season 11 has both the perfect ending and the best cut-off point. Season 12 and onwards is barely watchable up until season 14 or 15, whatever came before the movie. Then is all zombie Simpsons.
season 59 when they replace the truly voice of homero simpson:
HUMBERTO VELEZ
Common sneed W
Al Jean's worst problem is his extreme Lisa worship, he acts like she's his daughterfu.

Honestly this
When the 90s ends. Pretty much my cut off point for cartoons in general.
When Selma adopted some Chinese kid that is now older than Maggie.
The sliding timescale does some funny stuff.
I forgot which season. But I realized after the season in probably 2010, that it would keep going and I was wasting time. I cut both this and Family Guy after that the Season Finale and never went back to religiously watch them. There was a void, but it was worth it.
season 10
Behind the Laughter, then only maybe a few episodes that came after
