It’s because we’ve had Jurassic World for almost 10 years now and it’s finally clear that those movies aged like ass so people are realizing the original JP trilogy was better.
that last one had such wild decision making to the point where it couldn't have even been studio interference. that was someone's vision. it HAD to be a script for a different movie retrofitted. There's just no way. like an unused Resident evil story?
The original is overrated summerslop for sentimental boomers.
It's an entirely driven by nostalgia, and someone who didn't grow up watching the first JP doesn't have any emotional connection to it.
>Muh magic, muh awe and wonder! >Look, a CGI long-neckerino!
I get why people love it, but it just does nothing for me.
I don't feel that "spark" at all.
It's too light-hearted, it's a kid's theme park movie.
The characters are likeable yes, but nobody watches these movies for the characters. They watch it for the dinosaurs, and the fact is that TLW and even JP3 are better dinosaur horror movies.
Disagree, but I will say that it's going to be interesting when the times comes where Jurassic Park won't be as monumental because audiences will never actually get the context in why it was huge in the first place.
Seeing dinosaurs come to life with CGI for the first time must have been wild.
I was gonna say I love Jurassic world the most but then I just realized I’m pulling a Z(b)oomer >watched it a week after we got out for summer break in elementary school >was one of my first more mature movie >was doing my best to avoid spoilers from other classmates, something I don’t usually do >mfw mind exploded by dinosaurs and peak CGI
I saw Jurassic park before watching it and vaguely remember the animatronics but it was nothing to see how freely the CGI Dino’s looked like they moved.
There probably won’t be anything like it unless they fricking bring back dinosaurs and there’s an interview with Larry King with the Dino actor
people already forget one reason star wars was so successful was the revolution in filmmaking techniques, its incredible practical effects. people under 30 nowadays just go "i watched it and they were just kinda boring"

That's not how it works, boombooms.
Do you also think the first automobile that came out is the best?
TLW is better in every aspect. More mature, more terrifying, more dinosaurs.
Oh frick off.
When people think "dinosaur movies" the first that comes to mind is the Jurassic Park films.
This is why JP1 isn't as good as you think, it barely has any dinosaurs.
So you have no arguments and admit your love for JP1 is mainly because of nostalgia.
Got it.

The Brachiosaur scene in JP1 looks like fricking obvious CGI as well.
Dangerously based.
The two most iconic dinosaurs are T-Rex and the raptors, and this movie has 3 fricking Rexes and the most badass, savage raptors that actually behave like pack animals.
I hate how they anthropomorphized the raptors in JP3 and it's even worse in the nu-trilogy with "Blue" being essentially a pet.
Lost World is criminally underrated, it has by the far the best soundtrack as well.
>realistic >badass >coolest
lolmao
Yeah, they're so cool they can be killed by a little flipping niglet with no effort, but not all the big guys with guns.
Among normies maybe and even that I'm not sure about because it's just conventional wisdom among gen x that doesn't care about the series. Among fans TLW sometimes rivals JP in terms of popularity. It's easy those two and then the rest. Something else is distant third.
That is until Edwards makes his movie which will be the new third best movie.
After watching them for the first time recently altogether I liked 1 and 3, I thought 2 was kind of aimless and dragged on a bit. Overall I'd say 1 was the best.
The Lost World is definitely a better movie than than the third one, but JP3 Grant > JP2 Malcolm. Also Tea Leoni is lovely and the Spinosaur sequence in the river was impressive. So on a rewatch, considering how much I laugh at every neck snapping, JP3 is just more entertaining.
It was enjoyed. I couldn't wait to finally see it and even had the comic novelization. I liked it a lot. I don't know what JP fandom thought because it didn't exist back then obviously the movie wasn't as critically acclaimed but fans today love it. To hate it like it's an awfiul movie is pure conventional wisdom cringe.

People don't hate it because it's an awful movie, people hate it because it's cynical, uninspired and paced like shit coming from the same guy who made the last film. And he would be the first to admit it. Its existence also ruined JP as a franchise by forcing Crichton to write a sequel when he didn't want to.
Liking the cool moments doesn't make it good.

A normally functioning adult with taste? Yes, I am one of those.
I'm glad that the trajectory of the franchise has vindicated me.
>I had a really good time making it
I bet many actors can say the same about films they worked on that were dogshit, see: most Adam Sandler movies
just because you had fun on set doesn't mean it was any good
Am I the only one here who didn't hate the first Jurassic World movie? I thought it was cool to see the park fully open and running, the Indo-rex was silly but a fun inclusion, and there was plenty of good action. Chris Pratt's character was pretty dumb, as was the whole "trained raptor" thing, but I thought it was an all-around good popcorn flick. Obviously can't hold a candle to the first one, but it's probably tied with Lost World as my second favorites
The bones of a good film is there, the whole thing is just executed so poorly.
And I'll always maintain that trained raptors are a natural progression for them as animals. Not to do spec ops shit, but definitely for shows. Needed to be showcased better what raptors can actually do.

1. TLW
2. JP3

4. JW
5. Dominion

my fav is this deleted scene from JP1. It was a bit silly and did not fit the mood imo
That is one, big pile of shit
They reshot that scene to.
Fun fact, I took that shit. No props were used, just me taking a huge shit.
Jurassic Park: Oh yay, dinosaurs!
Jurassic Park 2: Oh no, dinosaurs!
Jurassic Park 3: What's a bad idea??
Jurassic World: Oh yay, dinosaurs v.2.0
Jurassic World 2: Save the dinosaurs!
Jurassic World 3: Oh well, dinosaurs...
there, i just summed up the entire franchise
Dangerously based.
The two most iconic dinosaurs are T-Rex and the raptors, and this movie has 3 fricking Rexes and the most badass, savage raptors that actually behave like pack animals.
I hate how they anthropomorphized the raptors in JP3 and it's even worse in the nu-trilogy with "Blue" being essentially a pet.
Lost World is criminally underrated, it has by the far the best soundtrack as well.
TLW isn't underrated, it's in most people's second place, and for some the best (like me).
Weird that you like TLW and hate the JPIII raptors, considering TLW has the worst raptors in the franchise.
Nah.
>JP1 raptors
Behave like looney tunes characters, failing to catch 2 children in a kitchen
>JP3 raptors
Feathered (gay) and anthromopomorphized
>TLW raptors
Realistic pack animals, badass tiger-striped.
Wipes out dozen of men in the tall grass scene.
TLW's raptors are the coolest, that is an objective fact.
>realistic
>badass
>coolest
lolmao
Yeah, they're so cool they can be killed by a little flipping niglet with no effort, but not all the big guys with guns.
The point is that Raptors in TLW actually behave like animals.
JP1 and JP3 Raptors behave like extraterrestrial aliens.
None of them behave like animals. They ambush some guys in the grass then act like morons for the rest of their screen time.
>acts like 80% of InGen squad getting murked in the grass is not a big deal
>acts like one cool scene to cheaply write out the remaining extras means the raptors don't start acting moronic immediately afterwards
I liked the chase in the abandoned village more than the silly kitchen chase in JP1.
At least the raptors in TLW look real.
The CGI in the first movie didn't age well.
Ah yes, can't forget about how real they looked when this happened, that's what really matters.
Yep, believability and realism matters.
That is why TLW > JP
>Wipes out dozen of men in the tall grass scene.
This scene felt like Looney Tunes
TLW raptors got their ass kicked by a gymnastic black girl tho.
>raptors
>plural
Only one raptor.
Among normies maybe and even that I'm not sure about because it's just conventional wisdom among gen x that doesn't care about the series. Among fans TLW sometimes rivals JP in terms of popularity. It's easy those two and then the rest. Something else is distant third.

You can't possibly believe that...
Grant's performance in JP3 was mediocre at best. He looks like he's just there for the money, dragged along as fan-service.
Malcolm at least has his iconic lines, he never disappoints.
Grant disagrees.
JPIII was a shitshow of a production but achieved meme status today so it's enjoyed on a different level than JP and TLW.
I can tell you weren't alive in 1997 by implying that TLW was enjoyed at a base level the same way JP was.
It was enjoyed. I couldn't wait to finally see it and even had the comic novelization. I liked it a lot. I don't know what JP fandom thought because it didn't exist back then obviously the movie wasn't as critically acclaimed but fans today love it. I totally believe that. I always hated how different felt Malcolm in the second movie. And I think Sam Neil did a good enough job.
Obviously can't hold a candle to the first one, but it's probably tied with Lost World as my second favorites
it's the best out of the nu-trilogy
Yeah I'm with you there actually.
Cut all the trained raptor bits and a few other stupid parts and you actually have a solid JP movie.
I really enjoyed how much they pulled from the art books that got released after the original came out.
The bones of a good film is there, the whole thing is just executed so poorly.
And I'll always maintain that trained raptors are a natural progression for them as animals. Not to do spec ops shit, but definitely for shows. Needed to be showcased better what raptors can actually do.
what I look for in these movies is
>survival on an island with dinosaurs
and the films that capture that feeling best is The Lost World and JP3.
that's why TLW and JPIII are in my top 2.
JP1 isn't that scary.
TLW haters lost the war. You love to see it.
Every JP thread lol

TLW has objective merits that only it and the first JP has. Jurassic Park is the best but then there's TLW and after that the order doesn't matter.
Nobody watches these movies for the characters, dumbass.
They watch them for the dinosaur action and thrills. That's where TLW completely beats JP1.
TLW has great supporting characters. The hunters are all great, Eddy is great, Malcolm being so different from the first movie was off-putting to me but now I enjoy him in his own way but he's just not the best as an action hero.
>Nobody watches these movies for the characters, dumbass.

You just described Muldoon from the first movie.
Roland is a much more deeper character than Muldoon ever was.
Grant obviously has the most predator expertise, not Muldoon.
>but from the SIDE
>vision based on movement
>like a flock of birds evading a predator

How the frick are you even supposed to know this just based on skeletons? It never made sense to me.
Grant said that shit because he's the main character, it's called plot armor.
I think we can atleast all agree the OT is better than the zoomer-trilogy.
That's not really true but even with no audible dialogue it serves as a homage. A lot of classic monster movies are referenced throughout the series. TLW borrows a lot from Gorgo.
And of course now we'll have our first director who used to direct a Godzilla movie. These two franchises are just two sides of the same coin.
