But if they had actually read the books they would know that the whole series is about wrong those are who adhere to the strict division. Working together is truly the only way to actually solve problems. The characters all learn this in a variety of ways, some of them extremely important.
The series never says that men and women are equivalent. It says that men and women are incomplete without each other and cannot be happy without each other. But they are NOT the same and the great evil of the series was unleashed by an attempt to make them equal by tapping into a unisex power.

I did as well. I am starting to get into the slog though. It really slows down by book 7. Jordan started to focus on boring characters and the big three frick off for entire books. It only started picking up again after RJ found out he was going to die.

There's problems in the 7-10 range. I only find 8 baddish but I still enjoyed it but there are real problems with shagging your editor.
Most of the problem with 9/10 is the editing. If 10 was trimmed down heavily and integrated and reordered with 9, it would be okay. They spend WAY too much time on Elayane's "But Im the queen of camelyn because I say so" plot.
Sanderson barely salvages it by the end, but at that point, it’s difficult to find the motivation to push through. There’s so many better fantasy series available.
I appreciate that we got a version of the end of the story, so we have a general sense of what happens. I wish we could have read it the way Jordan would have written it. Id rather have the full story than be left with a massive cliffhanger forever.
I won't call you filtered. The books are slow, although I don't think of them as 'filler' more like worldbuilding. If you don't enjoy the world and characters on their own you're going to be bored.
My dad used to go on and on about how good the books were, so I decided to read them when I was in highschool. In a month I'd made it to book 8 and dropped the series due to burnout.
The fact that Brandon "only unfun hard magic systems allowed" Sanderson was chosen to finish the series made me lose what little interest I ever had in trying again.
The problem with books 9 and 10 are the editing. Those 2 books cover the same three days from all the different perspectives. Somehow ALL of the good stuff ended up in book 9 which just left book 10 to be almost all filler material, and it really suffered because of it. Yes, book 11 picks up a lot, one of the better scenes in all the books is in 11. I also have a soft sport for book 9 because the cleansing is my favorite scene in the whole series.
The Rand segments are always great and the cleaning of saidar is one of the better endings, up their with Dumai Wells, I just can't stand Elayne's sideplots

The worst character is Egwene and its not even close. What you need to understand about Cadsuane is that she is super old. She is facing the apocalypse and thinks she is the only person who understands what needs to happen. Because of that, she takes matters into her own hands to see that what is necessary happens. She is doing what she thinks is best, but her view is flawed. She isnt aware of it being flawed due to Aes Sedai arrogance, which is was even stronger during her younger years.

Maybe when that one Aes Sedai force bound Rand and he didn't instantly execute him? Somewhere around there.
You stopped reading shortly before the bloodiest battle in the series when Rand breaks out and he and his followers start exploding everybody into mists of blood.

I ended up hating most of Perrin's story after the stone of tear falling. They seem to forget about him for a few books too while he's sat back in the two rivers being a reluctant lord, until they bring him back. Egwayne becoming armalin during the white tower civil war is also pretty painful and that drags on from book 5 to the end. Reminds me of GoT where you hit certain chapters with certain characters and you just roll your eyes because you have to slog through those to get back to stuff you find interesting
You're just not a fan of the books. Perrin slowly walking back and forth in the snow was great. Deal with it and frick off.

I think his character could have very easily been bad, but is saved by Matt being fundamentally a good person and not an edgelord.
It's sort of bad storytelling but the main bit of Perrin's real power and reign is being set up as King and foil to Elayne in the new world after the final battle. It's important that he spent years learning how to lord just not terribly exciting reading.

The thing is, the Wheel of Time books are very feminist, but it's not the most modern sort of feminism. Women are powerful, but not powerful like men. They're powerful in a different sort of way that compliments the power of men without being literally equivalent to men.
the books also go to great lengths to show that the superiority complex that can be, and certainly is today, associated with feminism is absolutely moronic. The characters that stick to that view point are the dumbest in the books and meet some of the worst fates because of theirs hubris.

agreed but they at least show there are holes to the idea, multiple times the main women have to be saved by Matt and Tom because they thought they could do everything themselves with the power. The reader can see this but the women almost always without fault believe they were fine without them, they apologize once or twice for getting themselves into that predicament, but it is almost entirely forgotten about a book later where the men have to do the same thing again and they return to calling them fools until they are saved once more. Modern feminist narratives could never admit they would need saving and they'd always succeed on their own.
There are also times when the men get into trouble and need a woman to help them. The overarching moral is that men and women aren't the same, but they need each other to cover for each other's weaknesses.

Specifically this occurs in Ebou Dar. There is a tradition of marriage knives, where a woman has a knife when she is married that she wears in a necklace. It will have a number of gems in it to show how many children she has.
When Nynaeve and Elayne go to TAR they show up wearing marriage knives, because they are thinking of Lan and Rand respectively.
Nynaeve has about ten or eleven stones in her knife. Elayne, meanwhile, has one so completely encrusted by literally scores of gemstones that you cannot even see the knife. One has to admire her dedication to wanting to spend the rest of her life on her back as a baby factory for Rand.

In season 1, they intentionally snubbed the main characters story so they could pretend a girl boss was the chosen one. They ruined the character of Matt Cauthon, my favorite character mind you. They made Loial look dumb. They fricked up the magic system. They made up a gay character so they could waste an episode on sad homosexualry. They made Lan, the posterboy for stoicism, a crybaby. This is a man who will willingly ride toward certain doom expecting to take a hell of a lot of his enemies down with him. The big battle toward the end really fricked with the lore in detrimental ways that I doubt they can unfrick now. You can't unfrick it once it's fricked. It's fricked.

If you are talking about Ishamel, thats at the end of book 3. Book 4 is where the stories continues, but is pretty dope for its own reasons. I think Jordan did intend to write a trilogy at first, and it certainly comes across that way. But I think the publisher point out how much money they were making, so he decided to write more.
The way I see it, Jordan wasn't certain of more books after the first, so the first stands by itself. After the second was greenlit he figured he'd also get a third, so the first three books also stand by themselves as a trilogy. After that, he commits to the full series.

I never said it was the 11th book...I said it was not Book 1. Book 1 is Eye of the World, every source available included the physical books themselves is in agreement on that, except you.
Ill go a step further though, the content of a New Spring is not introductory of anything in the world. It would make little sense to a reader not already familiar with the world and certain characters. The main characters of the story are not in the prequel at all.

The problem with books 9 and 10 are the editing. Those 2 books cover the same three days from all the different perspectives. Somehow ALL of the good stuff ended up in book 9 which just left book 10 to be almost all filler material, and it really suffered because of it. Yes, book 11 picks up a lot, one of the better scenes in all the books is in 11. I also have a soft sport for book 9 because the cleansing is my favorite scene in the whole series.
The Rand segments are always great and the cleaning of saidar is one of the better endings, up their with Dumai Wells, I just can't stand Elayne's sideplots

She is doing what she thinks is best, but her view is flawed. She isnt aware of it being flawed due to Aes Sedai arrogance, which is was even stronger during her younger years.

I ended up hating most of Perrin's story after the stone of tear falling. They seem to forget about him for a few books too while he's sat back in the two rivers being a reluctant lord, until they bring him back. Egwayne becoming armalin during the white tower civil war is also pretty painful and that drags on from book 5 to the end. Reminds me of GoT where you hit certain chapters with certain characters and you just roll your eyes because you have to slog through those to get back to stuff you find interesting

Specifically this occurs in Ebou Dar. There is a tradition of marriage knives, where a woman has a knife when she is married that she wears in a necklace. It will have a number of gems in it to show how many children she has.
When Nynaeve and Elayne go to TAR they show up wearing marriage knives, because they are thinking of Lan and Rand respectively.
Nynaeve has about ten or eleven stones in her knife. Elayne, meanwhile, has one so completely encrusted by literally scores of gemstones that you cannot even see the knife. One has to admire her dedication to wanting to spend the rest of her life on her back as a baby factory for Rand.

In season 1, they intentionally snubbed the main characters story so they could pretend a girl boss was the chosen one. They ruined the character of Matt Cauthon, my favorite character mind you. They made Loial look dumb. They fricked up the magic system. They made up a gay character so they could waste an episode on sad homosexualry. They made Lan, the posterboy for stoicism, a crybaby. This is a man who will willingly ride toward certain doom expecting to take a hell of a lot of his enemies down with him. The big battle toward the end really fricked with the lore in detrimental ways that I doubt they can unfrick now. You can't unfrick it once it's fricked. It's fricked.

If you are talking about Ishamel, thats at the end of book 3. Book 4 is where the stories continues, but is pretty dope for its own reasons. I think Jordan did intend to write a trilogy at first, and it certainly comes across that way. But I think the publisher point out how much money they were making, so he decided to write more.
The way I see it, Jordan wasn't certain of more books after the first, so the first stands by itself. After the second was greenlit he figured he'd also get a third, so the first three books also stand by themselves as a trilogy. After that, he commits to the full series.

I never said it was the 11th book...I said it was not Book 1. Book 1 is Eye of the World, every source available included the physical books themselves is in agreement on that, except you.
Ill go a step further though, the content of a New Spring is not introductory of anything in the world. It would make little sense to a reader not already familiar with the world and certain characters. The main characters of the story are not in the prequel at all.
There is no sense explaining these things to "chronological order" gays, if they had enough sense to understand these arguments they wouldn't be chronogays in the first place.
It is physically impossible for it to be Book 1. Eye of the World was published in 1990, and New Spring was published in 2004. Ten books had already been published before New Spring was released.
