When does it get good though? Ive watched the first couple eps and it seems like theyre still trying to figure out what the show is. When does it finally click?

season 2 is definitely where it gets good, with 3 probably being its peak. Season 1 is really short from what I recall. I think they originally had Leslie be a dummy

Never got truly bad, but they went overboard with the heartwarming, lovey-dovey stuff in the last two seasons. Still one of the best comedies ever produced despite shilling some of the most evil pieces of shit of our time.
i feel like they started going over the top with that heartwarming stuff even earlier than that. there was one episode where Ann forces April to hang out with her for a day "so that they can like each other". what the frick, why
I hated Andy because he's a fricking moron and somehow gets his way. Jerry or Gary or whatever, on the other hand, gets shit on endlessly. That shit's not funny, it's plain mean.
Andy was dumb but funny early on. Then they made him into a literal moron later. You’re right about Jerry, seems like a lame trope now like Toby from The Office
Jerry getting constantly shit on did get tiring, but it was part of a running joke that while he got no respect from his co-workers, he had a beautiful wife and three prefect daughters, and his home life was much better than anyone else's.
Andy was dumb but funny early on. Then they made him into a literal moron later. You’re right about Jerry, seems like a lame trope now like Toby from The Office
I wasn't a fan of the constant Jerry abuse either, but at least they gave the character a happy ending.
the show is fine but IMO this one scene is just 10/10 kino
I can't get this scene out of my head even though it's been decades. it's one of these things where both the scene and the song just become absorbed by my consciousness forever. I love this one scene and if this was in a movie I'd give it 5/5 even if everything else about it was shit.
Literally started jamming it with preachy politics, instead of it being simply a part of Leslie's character. They just couldn't help but start wagging their finger at the audience.
The writing got over the top sweet and everything was just about their friendships and being kind to each other eventually. shows like that usually are comfy if there is a nice balance, like the earlier seasons.
No, The Good Place is way better since they actually go balls deep into philosophy. It is done in a cartoony way, bit it's still more interesting than the majority of goyslop. Plus the ever qt KBell. Also Jammela Jamil. And even D'Arcy Kayden? Lots of it cuties on the show. Even has Alice from Workaholics.
She's Alice on steroids in this, or more specifically, coke. She plays the one person that inhabits "The Middle Place" which is a perfect balance between good and evil. So basically she's a genuinely nice person, but also she does coke and hates everyone. Sadly her role isn't larger.
Yeah as the show went on it went too far into sickeningly sweet and wholesome. Kinda like Ted Lasso. Having everyone talk about their feelings and hug it out every single episode isn't very funny or interesting
Unlike the far left off the rails slop that’s presented today, this show was pre-trump so at least could balance it out a bit. Yes Leslie was a Hillary stand in if her PR department could manifest itself into a single character, but also showcased her naivety at times with how the world worked and how government was ineffective. Ron was a great balance, and treated typically with respect and someone Leslie sought advice from. Him being a libertarian but also well written contributed to him being the breakout character from the show that the actor still sucks from the teet of.
I appreciate parks and Rec because it’s a show that wouldn’t be made today. Not because it’s inappropriate, but because the subject matter could never be approached without modern writers having to feel the need of giving you a lecture every second. Watch a show like Ted Lasso for example. It’s not entertainment, it’s a lecture written by people with an agenda who clearly think themselves smarter than the audience
As for OP. In season 1 it was basically a watered down office clone, but finds its footing in season 2 and after that is consistently funny for most of the series though the last 2 seasons suck. The show doesn’t hit the highs of the office, but it is pretty damn consistently good and has aged well
S4 was the start of the decline.
the characters started getting flanderized and shit started getting a little ridiculous, but it still remained relatively funny throughout the show
also everyone b***hing about politics convieniently ignore the fact that leslie was always portrayed as a feminist liberal since the beginning. culture war gays need to leave
What a bunch of homosexuals in this thread.
Show's gay, cringe and embarrassing to watch. I bet you think the big bang theory is "watchable" and "not that bad actually!" after all. Do you also consider rick and morty to be le epic then go around criticizing Bojack horseman as woke? The frick is wrong with you morons, gb2plebit already jfc.
IMO the show really didn't hit its stride until Ben and Chris show up late into Season 2. Ben was a great addition because he was a perfect straight man reacting to all the lunacy happening around him.
When Eagleton becomes broke and the staff begin to liaise/join with Pawnee City Council.
The last few seasons had its moments but was average at best overall.
This was the first show my wife and I binge watched after we got married, so it'll always be a sentimental favorite. That's probably also why the sugary-sweetness doesn't bother me as much as it does some anons.
But yeah, it takes til the second season to find it's footing, and the last two seasons are pretty much just wrapping up happy endings for all the characters.
Yeah, I don't remember if the time jump was for the whole last season, or just part of it. The main storylines were wrapped prior to the time jump, it was just epilogue.
I'd also like to see more of what the show started out as with struggling local civil servants trying to make a difference with limited resources but everyone in the community being a c**t.
The Paul Rudd season was the last decent one in my opinion, but many anons probably say even earlier. Whatever season had people going to work in DC felt off right out of the gate and never felt the same.
4 or 5. I think writers and liberal cuck Offerman seethed that Ron became such a popular character with the right. When the show went full lib tard
first post, /misc/cel post
Go back, tourist
>anon makes a reasonable post
>REEEEEEEE /misc/pol/pol/
embarrassing
Is /misc/ in the room with us now?
your post stinks of kosher.
it started getting bad during season 5.
some episodes into s5. It gradually got so shit i dropped it halfway through that season
Rob Lowe should be hung up by his ballsack
go on
the gag for the left is that everyone is mean to him for no reason. the gag on the right is that everyone is mean to him for no reason.
When does it get good though? Ive watched the first couple eps and it seems like theyre still trying to figure out what the show is. When does it finally click?
Season 2
season 2 is definitely where it gets good, with 3 probably being its peak. Season 1 is really short from what I recall. I think they originally had Leslie be a dummy
This. It was when they got rid of the only character that wasn't a cartoon.
this dude quit the show, right? i just remember it being weird they never mentioned his name again, even when it made sense to.
if you're as unlikable and forgettable as this guy in real life, it's actually very realistic.
i thought he was pretty likable. i think the actor probably just burned bridges on his way out.
I get he was supposed to be the straight man but he was just very dull. Ben did a much better job imo
s02e01. First season is just okay/watchable. Kino kicks in s2 and it's good until it shits the bed in s5
Tip of the hat, lads.
When Rob Lowe and Adam Scott's characters get introduced in S2.
Ann really was the worst character. It was like the writers had no idea what to do with her. Makes sense that the actress left eventually
Chris/Rob Lowe was probably the most irritating
When she turned into the hillary clinton analogy rather than the goofy michael scott analog for this show
the ron and andy moments were always great
I hated Andy because he's a fricking moron and somehow gets his way. Jerry or Gary or whatever, on the other hand, gets shit on endlessly. That shit's not funny, it's plain mean.

>when and why did it get bad?
She's mental, the characters act and behave like teenagers
>STAND
WHY ISN'T IT LONGER? HOW COULDN'T IT BE LONGER?? I SPENT SO MUCH TIME ON IT.
I watched this show start to finish but can't remember much about it.
I liked it, it's good, but it's just not as quotable
Literally started jamming it with preachy politics, instead of it being simply a part of Leslie's character. They just couldn't help but start wagging their finger at the audience.
Many such cases.
The writing got over the top sweet and everything was just about their friendships and being kind to each other eventually. shows like that usually are comfy if there is a nice balance, like the earlier seasons.
is The Good Place anything like Parks?
No, The Good Place is way better since they actually go balls deep into philosophy. It is done in a cartoony way, bit it's still more interesting than the majority of goyslop. Plus the ever qt KBell. Also Jammela Jamil. And even D'Arcy Kayden? Lots of it cuties on the show. Even has Alice from Workaholics.
oh so you’re gooner and a pseud, got it.
>Alice from Workaholics
god she made my pp hard as the boss
She's Alice on steroids in this, or more specifically, coke. She plays the one person that inhabits "The Middle Place" which is a perfect balance between good and evil. So basically she's a genuinely nice person, but also she does coke and hates everyone. Sadly her role isn't larger.
Never got bad - kino till the end. Only morons who are obsessed with politics will disagree.
I’m not obsessed with politics at all, I just thought the characters became too cartoony later on and went over the top wholesome.
it's kinda what happens at the end of a show like that, and it's fine - it's not the Sopranos
Yeah as the show went on it went too far into sickeningly sweet and wholesome. Kinda like Ted Lasso. Having everyone talk about their feelings and hug it out every single episode isn't very funny or interesting
Whenever an episode had Lil Sebastian or preachy shitlib politics

This is stuck in my head to this day

It was perfect up until the end. You're all nuts.
What a bunch of homosexuals in this thread.

What are you even blabbering on about?
When Brandon appeared.
I would still like to tongue audrey plaza's butthole if you know what I mean
I think I might know what you mean. She essentially plays herself on this show
I liked Jean-Ralphio and his sister
They were the worst
well the first season sucked from the get-go
never. the only "bad" episode is the johnny karate one near the end. its an amazing show. besides season one obviously
IMO the show really didn't hit its stride until Ben and Chris show up late into Season 2. Ben was a great addition because he was a perfect straight man reacting to all the lunacy happening around him.

I have a strange thing for Amy Poehler. She’s fricking hot and I like that she’s nothing like Leslie in real life

Yeah, I don't remember if the time jump was for the whole last season, or just part of it. The main storylines were wrapped prior to the time jump, it was just epilogue.
the only good character in the later seasons
s01e01
Because it’s a sitcom.
With the horse concert. At least that's when it jumped the shark for me, you could maybe go back to Ben sticking around for the decline.
>why
Lost it's grounding in reality. All the characters were dialled up to 11, all the stakes removed and nobody ever lost.
I'd also like to see more of what the show started out as with struggling local civil servants trying to make a difference with limited resources but everyone in the community being a c**t.
It’s a fricking office clone, it was never good
The Paul Rudd season was the last decent one in my opinion, but many anons probably say even earlier. Whatever season had people going to work in DC felt off right out of the gate and never felt the same.
needed more lewd Leslie
