world of warcraft episode. that's where the show became all about "make fun of current thing" instead of the adventures of 4 young kids.

They actually managed to do that well for a few seasons. The show was honestly the best when it was about that, the problem is Trey and Matt just became out of touch with the new thing and couldn't replicate the same magic they once had.

Right around the episode "You're getting Old" was when this happened

this episode genuinely felt like a series finale, like Matt and Trey went "the show ends here but Comedy Central is still giving us millions of dollars god please forgive us"

yeah, this and the follow-up Ass Burgers was basically trey and matt saying that they have really got tired of doing the show and the spark isn't there anymore, but we're going to carry on anyway
this is my headcanon ending of the show

How us world of warcraft not part of 4 young kids having adventures? You think kids are out there riding bikes and climbing trees? lol

But in some way it ways always making fun of current thing from the beginnining unless you mean the primary focus

      >where the show became all about "make fun of current thing"
I wonder why they went down this route. It gives the episodes almost no rewatchability years later.

The show was always make fun of current thing you underaged secondary. You just dont recognize any of the current things from the early seasons

They don't even know what that phrase means. They think it means "the moment thing went bad" when it doesn't mean that at all.

"Jumping the Shark" refers to the point at which a popular show has to resort to stunts for attention, as in the Foz jumping a shark on Happy Days. Most shows never "jump the shark". They just have bad episodes until they get canceled.

You're almost there. shows go bad and resort to jumping the shark. They dont just do it out of nowhere. The "shark" is the point of no return.

Season 17 I think was the first season to have more bad episodes than good and it was all downhill from there. Continuity and Tegridy Farms pushed it past the point of no return.

South Park was ALWAYS just a show that occasionally had a good episode. Some people act like they were just dropping kino episodes every week when they started out, but it wasn't. Only certain particular ones were really good, the rest was just slop

and so nothing has changed. It's still just a bunch of filler episodes of dick jokes and farts, with the occasional actually funny concept coming along every once in a while. There was NEVER some point in time where every South Park episode was great

Yeah maybe but at the time they still made the episode without any cuts and then comedy central came in and edited it. You can find for example the unedited speech kyle did that was leaked out. Really more on them for that particular instance.

More like when they went 180 degrees against their previous 20 years of counter-cultural shitposting to clutch their pearls and get their panties in a twist about a chaotic underdog that threatened to overthrow the political establishment. 1999 Matt and Trey would have been 100% for Trump.
      >inb4 economic interests etc etc
No one but facebook boomers that think this is still America supported Trump after 2018 when it was clear he was a fraud in over his head.

        Anonymous

More accurately they did a 180 on actually being funny. As much as it’s stereotyped as being crass early South Park actually balanced it’s crude shock humor with some wit here and there. Eventually that was just dropped and absurdity was cranked up to 11.

Correct. Trey and Matt got old and respectable, and thus became lame.

Stick of Truth was soul because alongside a fun and simple gameplay system it was able to use the entire South Park catalogue up to that point. Fractured only used the SP stuff since then, IE all the bad stuff.

It’s so weird that throngs of normies from my coworkers to my extended family suddenly love modern South Park and act like they always did, like it’s The Simpsons or something, because it’s popular now. They would’ve hated it back in the 2000s, in fact they did.

Also to answer the question sometime around 2010-2012 it just lost the charm and stopped getting laughs out of me.
