The frick are you talking about, that was caused by Slott who ran Spider-Man into the ground for like ten fricking years. Peter's characterization otherwise was a fundamentally good guy with anger issues who's short temper caused him to leap to conclusions too quick but always cooled off to do the right thing. Ultimate Peter was the story of an awkward teen growing up in the 2000s who could be a bit dipshit learning to become a man and the shouldering the responsibility it takes. Which was really early Peter's arc.
Yeah, that's why I have to add the qualifier of first half because otherwise people will think I like them spending a movie character assassinating Peter and Miguel rather than like Miles and the Spot.

How is he under pressure for "living up to the legacy of Spider-man?" Everyone pats Miles on the back just for showing up and using his instant victory sparkle fingers. The kid was never under any pressure at all.
He was also welcomed into the Avengers and a few other teams with open arms. The rest of the superhero community hated Peter and never let him in a damn thing until the late 80s.
I was on board for this premise but then Peter came back and Miles was sent to The Prime Earth (I'm not calling it 616) and became a parasite forevermore.

Miles is the wrong pick for a black Spider-Man as he has zero connection to Peter Parker, black Spider-Man should have been somebody who worked with Spider-Man had a connection with him and actually wanted to be a superhero like IDK Hobie Brown? You know the original Prowler who everyone glossed over and forgot about to make way for Miles' shitty abusive uncle? Like why the frick is the Spider-Man successor just some random fricking kid who never appeared in the comics until ultimate Peter died and then just showed up and took his place. Elaborate Anon, for me I like Ohm being kind of a loser with a broken powerset who learns to become more confident in himself and become a serious threat. It's a fun character arc for a bad guy.

His mom dying and his dad disowning him (while Miles is only like 13) just feels like modern ASM torture porn, it's still better than anything Miles is doing now but it still doesn't hit that high mark of Spidey drama, you know? It's a balancing act, and one that modern writers really don't know how to tread anymore
