I sincerely agree. This is a level-headed post from someone who knows history and doesn't cherrypick it to make Nazis seem justified. The world is made up of us. These hardcore teens supporting Hitler don't have a hold in the real world. They've just gotten uppity lately because they're trapped in echo chambers of ignorance. We represent sanity and they don't hear from us often. Luckily calling us israelites and trannies doesn't bug us. I am a white man who doesn't like everything about the world but I also don't want to burn it down just yet. The world is gray. Censorship of ANYTHING is a bad idea. If you want to rip on israelites and deny the fricking holocaust you cannot burn or ban those troony books. Free speech for ALL. That's the only reason for smart people like us to be here in this sewer.
We can't have strong opinions on places like reddit either. They're censoring words there like 'troony' and 'moron' and 'homosexual'. I use those words but I also don't have prejudice in my heart. Smart people who see more than black and white see the value of a place like this. But it's OVERRUN with ignorant haters pushing violence. If it weren't for fond memories of this place from years ago, I would leave you buttholes to hate each other to death. Don't even bother with these people. They'll never, ever understand anything. The alt-right fricksticks that think they'd be welcomed by or safe from Nazis or that type of power are the same as the nerds who think they'd be heroes and treated like more than fat incels in the Star Trek universe.

They don't understand what it would be like for someone to come after them because they're righteous and stupid and think they're on the side of victors. No one lives happily under the "line our enemies up against the wall and kill them all" regimes that have happened in the past.

I'm glad to see another rational poster on here from time to time amidst all the ignorance and hatred and Hitler-condoning bullshit going on here these days. It's not pointless for us to dissent, even if most of them are just trolling kids.

I'm glad we live in a country where they are free to edgily express their support for awful, monstrous dictators. I just wish they were educated enough to know that as soon as there's a Hitler in power, there's no free speech left for them.

            >but I hate israelites and nigs and morons and gays just like them! I'm safe!

i was obviously well aware how much hate i was gonna get from that comment, ive been posting on Cinemaphile for well over a decade at this point (christ im getting old) and its not like im completely above posting edgy shit just for a laugh from time to time, but i know theres also a lot of people on here who really believe a lot of the crazy shit they post and sometimes its really entertaining to engage with them and prod them on their viewpoints a little bit.

you hit the nail on the head about reddit being a completely different kind of hellhole, i definitely still prefer Cinemaphile but honestly for the most part i try to just not engage online much other than on youtube comments these days. but when i see posts like these and have the occasional genuine discussion about a great film i remember why i still come back here from time to time.

I think most people who are buying blu rays and dvds in general probably aren’t interested in stuff like Iron Man 1 and people who would be aren’t the type to buy physical stuff generally. Then I saw it years later at another nearby local store. It was a decent price. I said they had it at a good price. They said someone they knew had passed away and they were selling his stuff as consignment and didn't feel right jacking up the prices. Kinda gave me pause. Pic only slightly related as an example.

I collect DVD and VHS. I have a lot of digital shit on drives, but it's not the same. Stuff I really care about I want commentary tracks and the physical copy. I've had hard disks and solid state drives fail me. The 'cloud' is one lost password away from being gone forever. You're taking no chances with discs on a shelf.

I'm fine with paying for things. You pirate all you want, but stop holding it up like it's a simple and legal alternative and that paying for anything else is "stupid" and "pointless" when you could just pirate it. There are PLENTY of titles that I've never been able to find on private trackers. Now's when you tell me it's just a skill issue and I'm not casting my nets wide enough on the deep web. Yeah, I'm not going to put any more effort into tracking down old and rare shit that may have at one time been seeded briefly. I've found more hard-to-locate shit on p2p software like SoulSeek than torrent sites. It's absolutely not all on private fricking trackers. I've looked. If I need to get a special invite and offer up my own entire digital library in order to download something then it's not worth my time. I'd rather have the disc anyway. It's not stupid or wasteful; it's just people with differing priorities and tastes than your own.

Like six quality movies in all that mainstream trash. Also, you're moronic, OP. Physical media with special features will always be superior to streaming. And who's to say that some other good collectors won't happen upon those and give them a nice home? Not everyone is a grifting online merchant piece of shit trying to profit. It's rarer and rarer anymore that clueless people just dump off someone's shit at the Goodwill. Friends and family often divvy up things like that, in the event there's no will written up explicitly bequeathing specific items to specific people.

This precisely. It's plenty simple to find the newest stupid comic book movie. Netflix 17 years ago and specialty release distributors are the only way to find many rare titles. And honestly, the people who appreciate a lot of the things I do aren't the type to steal it. They'd share it with real friends IRL, but not probably have the interest or know-how to make digital copies and then reserve the right to the content to only the most hardcore computer junkies. From what I know about discord there's nothing of interest for me there. Talking on headsets to people in an audio chatroom? No thanks. I'm in my 40s. A normal person. I think tiktok is moronic. Your films must be bittersweet to watch as you root for the war criminal losers. I think if you all had seen Schindler's List as adolescents you'd have never gone down the path of the bad people. But if you're already numb and indoctrinated you'd probably see it and just think it was all lies and propaganda, the opposite of the purpose. You're so wrong. I hope you learn someday. Thankfully there aren't very many of you.

I always have a good laugh when I look at my NAS filled with 16TB drives and think about how this tiny box has more films in it than a library. Imagine wasting money on a bunch of discs in stupid cases when you could just search for what you want to watch in 10 seconds and start watching it.

      Anonymous

lol, I disagree totally! Different strokes though. Imagine having 1,000 movies that could just get wet and disappear forever. Or become 'corrupt' overnight and need "reformatting" suddenly.
Imagine stealing a bunch of game ROMs and playing them in the wrong aspect ratio on an HDTV where they look shitty, with a fake USB controller then laughing at the video game nerd's wonderland of a basement because he "wasted money" on something that you could have a stolen, glitchy, half-assed version of for nothing and carry it all on your phone!
Imagine picking up a leather bound book and smelling it and turning the pages knowing your grandfather held it. So gay! You could get that on a Kindle for $0.99 or maybe steal a copy for nothing if you know the right hackers!
You dumb old idiots with your physical keepsakes, lol. I have a good laugh thinking about your digital stolen iphone version of everything, the delicate nature of it existing only in binary floating in the ether.

Imagine having a thousand movies that can melt in a fire.

Do you think redundancies are impossible? I don't live on any fault lines, I don't live next to any rivers, the chance of losing everything is near zero and still far lower than your risk factors.

Imagine playing a bunch of games where you have to go to a wall of junk and find the game you want to play instead of booting it in a second from solid state. Imagine acting like emulation is buggy in 2024, when I'm over here emulating PS2 games at 4.5x resolution on a 4k monitor. I've got a PS2 in the next room, with HDD loader, plugged into a PVM, but I barely use it.

Imagine carrying around books when you can fit a million of them into a gigabyte. Imagine thinking your data is any safer because it's "physical". If you don't have a second copy off-site, you're a moron.

          Anonymous

I'd rather carry the books myself. If you can't "imagine" that then I don't want to know you. I'm feeling more and more kinship with Ted K. conversing with you "analog shit is obsolete and lame. digital files are better. woohoo" nerds. I'm using a computer, sure. But even though I could experience all of my entertainment through it, I'd rather not. You're probably not even capable of grasping that.

Well, I didn't want to mention the film because I was hoping for a neutral answer that could be applied to any difficult-to-find movie. The moment I name the film I'm guaranteed to get some contrarian reply of "but it's shit bro".
But if you MUST know, it's pic related. I absolutely love it. The shifting animation styles, the music, the dialogue, the voice acting (especially for Lucifer, genuine masterclass work). I've found two places on the entire internet that sell the blu-ray, one is an amazon seller and the other is some bible shop of all places which is weird because the movie is VERY R-rated. That's just such a hard pill to swallow, I mean I own a decent amount of steelbooks and obscure releases, have gotten a few things signed but damn. I've never gone this far before. Most I did before was $60 to import the Berserk 1997 steelbook. It has english subtitles and my blu-ray player is modded to be region unlocked, so the only barrier is money. If I did go that far, this would be the one to do it for. I can't imagine another movie captivating me so much.
