If the show lasted 3 or 4 seasons it would be beloved here. Instead, the humor feels tired, and there's this almost desperate pushing of drama and romance that grates at your teeth.
Canadians have a strange sense of humor, I've seen a few of their cult comedies (TPB, Red Green, Corner Gas Letterkenny) after being recommended a thousand times. Very cozy, laid back and amusing but rarely "funny." Good for a chuckle here and there but the snarkiness and passive aggressive retorts are tiring
