That's where my parents went, I think because they had porn video rooms. Well until my mom lost Cast Away and Hollywood Video wanted $35 to replace it, so we went to Blockbuster
I miss Game Crazy, which was attached to them. They'd do a buy two, get one free deal all the time when I was in college so I ended up with some sick vidya I never would have played otherwise.
>ywn again go into a Hollywood video and see the white teenager working there put out a copy of the new Star Wars game Rebel Assault 2 that you read about in the latest issue of EGM and pick it out knowing you're going to be the first one to rent it and seeing your giddy face reflected in the unblemished black plastic on the back as you take it out of its case and put it in your PS1 that you got for Christmas from your grandparents who were still relatively young and spry in their late 50s >your own kids will never experience anything like that either
I wonder if this is how the last of the true Romans felt, watching German legionnaires open the gates for the Huns.
>in its own room.
So? If they had all the same videos but not an actual room, would that make it worse? Weirdo. Creep. Fricking stay away from my kids, pervert.
I went one last time to one like a year before they closed and they were giving like 5 movies away for free if you just signed up to get a card so I did. I never once used that card nor did I ever go back and then when I found it in my wallet I went back out of sheer curiosity and it was closed. Had the card for years after that, then lost it.
Went to that "last" one in Bend, OR just to look around.
Devoid of the soul, basically just a gift shop and half assed movie memorabilia museum
There's a mom and pop rental shop in my hometown that's been going 40 years and still does good business. we would either go there or to Hollywood Video and skip the blockbuster
Last time my family went was probably 1990. My dad bought a Sega CD system they had. Then we started going to a more local mom and pop video store instead
The thing I remember most is those plastic movie cases and the carpet
We had one here that clung on to the bitter end.
Google is telling me that they all closed down in 2013, but that's frightening if true.
I'd swear I was in there 5 years ago not buying anything.
I had a girlfriend back then and all we did was watch movies. You can say what you want, but when you went into a Blockbuster, there was quality movies all around. It wasn't like Netflix where it's all crap except for 5 movies
I bought a bunch of used placeholder placards when the two of them in my area went under. Made some collages for friends and made myself a cheap end table with some plastic adhered/sealed to the top of it.
2011, when they were going out of business and every thing was cheap. They had a copy of New Vegas for 360 for like 12 bucks and I didn't get it, instead I got various DVDs like Dinner for Schmucks, The Town and The Social Network for some reason.
Also one time I kept GTA IV for way too long and the late fees started racking up, but then the Blockbuster that I got it from was just gone one day and I faced no repercussions.
I don't remember the date but I think we picked up the Gamecube version of Prisoner of Azhkaban from it and played it during the weekend and ended up buying it for good
I forget if it was a Blockbuster or Hollywood Video, but I last went during their final clearance sale and bought out their selection of Bond films. May have been 2009/2010. I should have got more PS2/Xbox games, some of those are rare now.
2011 when my local one shut down. They were selling dvds dirt cheap so I bought like 20 movies for 50 bucks or some shit. I had a great DVD collection like 300 strong and was still dating "her" and was still in college. The best days of my life and I was clueless. Feelsbadman
It's sad that you probably couldn't have that shit today, black people have become bolder when it comes to shoplifting.
Or wait, did they end up just putting in the media at the register and you were just bringing up the case? It's been so long that I forget.
There's a shitty little video rental place in the Navajo Indian reservation. I've been there. They make decent money due to everyone there being dirt poor and the Internet being complete dogshit.
They no joke still rent VHS tapes and I don't think they've gotten any new releases since like 2016 or so.
2011. One of the blockbusters had their going out of business sale. Took a long lunch at work and said I was going to a construction site visit. Just went to Blockbuster instead and bought some movies for $1 and some TV box sets for $3.
August 18 2007
January 25th, 2004.
Spring of 2009. I bought a clearance strategy guide for Fallout 3. Why do you want to know, Satan?
Frick Blockbuster. West Coast Video had an entire horror section in its own room.
for me, it was Hollywood video.
Hollywood video chad reporting in

Probably 2010 or 2011
I remember buying a used copy of GITS: Solid State Society for a few dollars. That movie came out here in 2007, so probably 2009 at the latest.
what do you mean "inside"?
DEEP inside
I was born in 2005
a video store maybe 2013, block buster specifically probably around 2005
2003
my friend and I rented something using his account then I watched it and he got pissed because I didn't return it in time
vividly remember that week
>go to blockbuster to look at kino
>immediately need to pee
happened every time.
Same except with poop. When I was a kid it never failed if I was walking around a store browsing.
I would just climb in the clothing racks and take s hit
Early 2010
never
i'm not american
2005
How's Bakhmut, Igor?
2012 I think
2018.
Rented a few things; I remember The Foreigner with Jackie. Swiss Army Man
Went to that "last" one in Bend, OR just to look around.
Devoid of the soul, basically just a gift shop and half assed movie memorabilia museum

lol that looks nothing at all like a blockbuster.
September 5th 2009
I rented Silent Hill Homecoming for XBOX 360
It was a better time
Last time my family went was probably 1990. My dad bought a Sega CD system they had. Then we started going to a more local mom and pop video store instead

Prolly like 2010. I don't miss it.
It must have been 15 years ago maybe

The last time I was there.

Around Pokemon Stadium printer time
September 11, 2001
Never Forget
I still have a transformers from blockbuster.
2011, when they were going out of business and every thing was cheap. They had a copy of New Vegas for 360 for like 12 bucks and I didn't get it, instead I got various DVDs like Dinner for Schmucks, The Town and The Social Network for some reason.

I think it was either 2008 or 2009, it was the last one in the area too. Building became a chinese supermarket for a shortwhile then a bank

I worked at Blockbuster for a few years as a teenager. It was the most enjoyable job I have ever had.
Last summer
It's sad that you probably couldn't have that shit today, black people have become bolder when it comes to shoplifting.
Or wait, did they end up just putting in the media at the register and you were just bringing up the case? It's been so long that I forget.
What's all that shit on the floor

That picture is a Hollywood Video.

2002 maybe?
Up untill 2014 when they closed my local store, Ours was very popular still but they closed none the less.
no blockbuster in my country, this was my local videostore
who eats chinese food outside in the middle of the day
>go have lunch
>it's nice outside
why not sit outside?
chinese isn't really a day time food
My local shut down in 2013. Went in and bought a few movies on clearance and some sour patch kids.
Sad to see it go. Don't like the excess of choice now. The limitations made me watch new stuff.
In 2010 or early 2011 I think. I asked if they had the extended Lord of the Rings editions and the fat nerd at the counter was dismissive.
There's still a blockbusters in my city. Its privately owned. The owner is an old man who will talk to you about movies all day.
Very chill. I go on my lunch break sometimes.
