When you where a boy and saw the "girl" member of a team how did you feel about her?

When you where a boy and saw the "girl" member of a team how did you feel about her?

Did you go, "Eww Girls have cooties" or "Huh, this is weird, I have feelings for her"?

I usually went like “damn, the nips are animating some horny shit again”

Neither, at cootie-vulnerable age I had girl friends and didn't think much about it. It was the period between roughly 13ish to 17ish I had hang ups about girls which is a bit old to be thinking they're gross.

    Bit of both.
I imagine most people here though weren't around when any of the girls in that image were airing.

I was and I though they were hot. Still do in fact. Never understood why you guys chase these kid characters around when these women exist.

Not this era, but I had both thoughts when watching stuff like JLU, Teen Titans, and Sonic X.

I felt different things on a case-by-case basis.

For instance I don't give a frick about Arcee. But I also didn't vibe with Blur, Scattershot or Wreckgar or pretty much any later G1 transformer.
On the other hand Cheetara is the only Thundercat to have !~and consistently use~! a superpower. That made her interesting to a non-sexually aware version of me.
I liked Rogue and Storm in the 90s X-Men cartoon, really disliked Jean, and was pretty ambivalent about Jubilee. Because their powers were way more interesting. With Rogue I sat and thought "wow if she got into a fight and someone punched her: they'd be giving her their power.". I can't say it was because her story or angst was better than anyone else's, or the fake southern accent or outfit made her sexier. Storm can control all the weather, including frigging lightning: contrast with Jubilee who just has the power to make fireworks and can't really control them. And Jean felt boring, and redundant with Professor X around.
I don't think I cringed and said "Ewww" about a girl being around once.

"Yep, that's a girl all right. There always has to be a girl on the team, that's just how it is. Sometimes there are two. I like it better when there's two. The first one is always boring, but the second girl gets to have a personality."

Hey, "the nagging wet blanket" and "forced team mom" are personalities!

Whose the red head and the octopus chick?

I don't recognize the redhead with the gun but the octopus lady is Octavia from the Tigersharks. It was made by the same studio as the Thundercats and the Silverhawks.

    Probably the latter.

Who and why does she sound like a 10 year old?

I am autistic so my perception is skewed but they are making themselves "one of the guys" by doing the same things the guys are doing so I saw them as bros but really pretty and cute bros. I really liked Power Rangers and it seemed normal that if theres a pink and yellow ranger they would just be girls because why would a guy be pink or yellow that doesnt make sense. Also irl I played sports and they had girls on the team, they wouldnt seperate on gender so there was always 2 or 3 girls out of the entire team of boys which lined up with what I was seeing in cartoons and shows.

      >why would a guy be yellow that doesnt make sense
I think you're being back-influenced here yellow isn't an effeminate color. Yellow is pretty securely the safe gender-neutral if child-coded color.

...and I've got some news for you about the yellow ranger.... not only is the character a boy in the original Sentai and thus most of the fighting footage that character's literal name is "Boy".

I remember once reading a theory that they originally wanted to use Jetman which had the yellow ranger as a girl, but by time it actually happened Zyuganger was shinier and newer.

I'm not dobuting there are rumors around the show being slapdash, but if you'd just watch the video you posted. You will see Jetman had a yellow ranger but he was a fat guy and wasn't replaced later or anything.

Jetman did have two girls on the team though: White Swan (which has a lot of pink anyway) and Blue Swallow. So something in the mix is accurate.

I didn't really care. It was just a trivial fact that they were a girl, unlike today where their female-ness has to be the focus because boys are stupid and toxic and evul and deserve humiliating displacement
