    >This manga made Katoki seethe so badly that he had to come up with donut steel Wing variant to try and distance Wing from G-Unit

I also noticed that both the characters and mech designs are close to Gundam X's designs more than Wing

I think that has to do with G-Unit centering around primarily Oz suits, and Oz having its own separate design language from the Gundam Pilot suits

He must have been really seething alright, to say he apparently went back in time to change the mechanical designs.

      full story?

Anon is projecting on Katoki, presumably because he prefers G-Unit and/or it's designs. Endless Waltz initially released in Jan 1997, G-Unit started May 1997. Also, Katoki has stated that he redesigned the units because the audience of the time seemed to be latching onto post show films/OVA that didn't feel the same as the show if I recall. Someone can probably post the interview, some it was posted here several years back.

I was referring to Frozen Teardrop, not the EW OVA
Did "donut steel Wing variant" not key you in? How did you NOT get Snow White from that?

Doubt so, I think that only the title had to be changed because that Black person 50 cent named his aperappin group G-Unit
Wing was the first completely unaltered mecha anime to air in the USA

50 cent had nothing to do with the name change of a manga you fricking moron piece of shit

Well, because (a) Snow White is no more or less a "Wing variant" than the Wing Zero Custom, but (b) Frozen Teardrop released nearly 13 years after G-Unit, so Frozen Teardrop being a reaction to it is kind of silly compared to Endless Waltz which was at least contemporary to it. Also, because somewhat relatedly (though not part of the initial point), (c) Sumisawa was the writer of the Frozen Teardrop novels, which actively called for new designs since it's a story that takes place years later and would presumably have directed Katoki on how to make those designs look.

            [...]
Wrong. Katoki only did the designs for the OVA because Okawara was busy with gundam X designs. So he had to make it.

source: his interview in one of the new wing kits that I forgot.

Also, G-Unit designs never had anything to do with katoki, it was all tokita/astrays even back then.

How is that in any way contradictory or mutually exclusive to what I said?

        Yeah a fabricated Tokyopop translation.

damn, i owned them as a kid. So Tokyopop's story has no semblance to G-Unit's at all? From playing Cross Rays, thought TP did a decent translation

They embellished a lot, as they did with all their releases, for some reason. You wouldn't know unless you did a comparison to the original.

I was reading a comparison that someone did earlier this year, and they had something like "Up until now, the remote asteroid colonies beyond the fourth planet have been able to remain neutral in the escalating conflict" which did not exist at all in the original version. They put them in the asteroid belt past mars, which isn't right.
