Once it went from free use content into a wannabe commercial IP. As usual from soul to soulless. Sorta like what happened to Wikipedia.
>Once it went from free use content into a wannabe commercial IP. As usual from soul to soulless. Sorta like what happened to Wikipedia.
And then the troons went in and re-wrote ('updated') the classics, erasing what made the early stories engaging in the first place.
What did they rewrite?
NTA but 049 is one of them
How many sex change SCPs are there now? At least 20 by my last count.
What charm? The first SCP was a perpetually shitting statue of a deformed baby that could snap your neck at supersonic speed. It was just ridiculous. Millennials truly have a warped mind if they think that is entertaining.
There are some great ideas and stories in there but nothing lasts.
>What charm?
SCP-093 The Red Sea Object
I must have re-read that one a million times. No gimmicks, no format screws, no agendas. Just exceptional world building.
is that the one with the mirror where you go to the evalengical christain world with the giant monsters
that's the best one
The better ones weren't power-level wank and worked off of being clever or interesting. Such as the Ikea store or the drink machine that could make you a cup of what ever you asked for (don't ask for a 'cup of joe').
The one that creeped me out the most was the tape of the basketball game where the people inside become sentient and fall into madness because they can't get out.
I like the red pool and the deer.
'SCP-001 WDB' made me feel disturbed when I first read it
That was the only one that ever irked me and felt like a naturally creepy story. There are so many that are forced and try to hard to be creepy.
Anytime you get enough human beings together in a group there will always be a certain percentage of them that want to ruin it for the rest.
Cool it with the antisemitic remarks.
This was always reddit tier trays anon. Lesson is, write your own stories. Don't get ripped off.
Number?
anon hasn't responded because he never wrote it. He's made shit up for the purposes of pathetic clout lmao
wtf are you on about moron
tell us which you wrote then
SCP-1733
i wrote one of the first 100 scps and it showed up in some indie games and stuff. pretty cool. the site owners better not be making money on it though i’ll be pissed. i wrote that shit so people could enjoy it for free.
Brain dead. Never work for free anon
it’s just a shitty story who cares
By working for free, you devalue yourself and the work of others. You should have written a book, moron.
what makes you think i havent? lol
Because you're posting on Cinemaphile. Stay mad
Never work for free
He wrote something for fun, he wasn't fo know that trannies would steal his work.
I don't like paying for shit, so free shit is good, simple as.
Janny mentality
Based
Only Redditors create content for free. Braindead
Was it 35?
it's "me too!" culture, which is to say
>what's yours is mine!
anything like that will eventually reach a tipping point where the number of trannies and redditors poisons the well beyond any hope of salvation. you let these people in, and suddenly your horror mythos is in bad taste, and needs trigger warnings and censorship to make it inclusive and "fun". you let them in, and the morons who think doctor who is 'science fiction' fill the site with whimsical fantasy cancer and joss whedon style writing. it's 'collaborative', so shit writers will use better articles as crutches for their own ideas, thereby ruining the original's mystique through overexposure and overexplanation. the more popular it gets, the more it has to appeal to the lowest common denominator in order to receive good ratings. the central conceit of the site was that you were looking at dry scientific reports and the horror lay between the lines, but that was boring for morons to read and hard for morons to write, which is why the site is now flooded with 'tales', and all the articles are mostly interview logs so the author can bluntly explain their shit ideas directly to the audience.
'cancer' really is the appropriate term for this. once you see the warning signs it needs to be treated because it won't get better on its own. they managed to do this exactly once back in the day, when cringey OCs were rampant and there were too many power fantasies. the appropriate people put their foot down, said 'the foundation has become way too silly', and they made the effort to cut out as much cancer as possible. unfortunately those same people couldn't be trusted to keep manning the gate, and once DJhomosexual entered the picture all hope was lost.
The only good articles were the ones that snuck in creepy images. Like the stairway page that had a 1/10 chance of showing a spooky face on the front page
Or the one about the haunted chess set that had two freaky screaming ghouls who appeared at the top of the screen once you scrolled to the bottom, then once you scrolled back up they gave you a heart attack lel

>>Or the one about the haunted chess set that had two freaky screaming ghouls who appeared at the top of the screen once you scrolled to the bottom, then once you scrolled back up they gave you a heart attack lel
frick those faces
my brain is very spooped by them
The people who were into SCP in the first place were weirdos and outcasts who were going to infiltrate it at some point. Even the original site admins were outed as creeps.
Anyone else prefer the ones that are more about alternate worlds and infinite spaces than the goofy supernatural/reality bending/"cognito hazard" bullshit?
Like the one about the wilderness tower that keeps having levels upon levels. That was so much more interesting before it became about bodysnatching bugs or whatever.
The real shift happened way earlier than people got wind of in the normiesphere. Before the gays and before the games. It happened in 2012 or so when namegays like Kaktus or whoever else attention seeking moron started acting like attention seeking morons. Once you let c**ts like this run your 'hobby' it's pretty much over already.
I want to reread scp again sometime, for nostalgia's sake, but I'm afraid of rewrites like 049 or that one that alternate facility one that had cyborg lesbian commandos retconned into it.
What's a good way to prevent this in future? then again the internet is dead so frick it
What are essential SCP reads, before everything went to shit? How to get into it, without interacting with garbage new stuff?
Wokeism death of the old guard and essentially just mass popularity. So essentially normies.
>creepypasta but for transgender zoomers
Groundbreaking
Imagine ignorant frick who doesn't know anything and still posting in a thread
Cinemaphile invented SCP you fricking moron
Cinemaphile invented lots of groundbreaking stuff.
SCP is not one.
It it literally started on /x/
Just because you don't know doesn't mean I'm wrong
t. Transgender /x/ zoomer
>hurr durr muh zoomers
have a nice day
>"Any organization not explicitly right-wing sooner or later becomes left-wing." - Robert Conquest
If you don't want your communities infiltrated by people with sociopolitical agendas, you need to gatekeep them out.
As long as the ones are on the site and tv tropes its ok. The new homosexuals can make up what ever numbers they want but those are not iconic or will be. The homestruck satellite will always be some trash.
What's the satellite?
White Wolf stopped making WoD games and people who are incredibly off putting needed something else to do. Every single one of those things reads like homebrew vampire bloodlines.
Any SCP that had even a passing mention of gender gets a bunch of trans stuff added to it nowadays.
