NYC apartments are expensive as frick, not to mention the rest of the high costs.

I figured he moved moderate weight of cocaine.

There's that accountant who everyone suspects is doing coke (he's actually just allergic to mohair) that Kramer tries to entrap. Seems like Kramer's own coke moving would have been made apparent in that episode.

Kramer was more than likely subsidized. He's based off Larry's neighbor, and Larry said they both lived in subsidized apartments because the city sucked at the time so they had a program for writers and artists to get apartments like that.

If anything else, Jerry probably paid for anything important. And Kramer was always a "Go-getter" guy. There's people like that I know who somehow have money despite never really working and too inept to even deal drugs. Shit is a networking skill. And we've seen Kramer many times sway people.

Kramer wasn't a writer or an artist though.

You can actually do quite well doing small odd jobs. If I wasnt a lazy useless frick I could easily make $1000 a week just doing odd jobs for people in local Facebook groups.

he's never seen doing small odd jobs though, just dumb time wasting capers with Newman.

The joke is that Kramer is always doing eccentric small side jobs off screen, and you never get to find out what (most) of them are. This is not a complicated joke anon.

And besides, Kramer has a ton of shady friends that Jerry claims he never sees. Who knows what he does, it doesn't matter.

They don't have to show it. The fact that he always has money implies that he does something to get it. George said he falls ass-backwards into money, so Kramer has ways of getting by.

That's what I go with, 'fell ass backwards into money'. I figured inherited but Babs doesn't seem to be doing too well. So maybe one time out of all his schemes he won a contest or had one successful lawsuit previous to knowing Jerry.

Being able to charm people and being afraid to get ganked by two queens are two different things. They were violent anyway, they started a mob against him at the Puerto Rican Day parade.

I was under the impression that the landlord lets him stay in his apartment for free. He's just really good friends with the landlord. Kramer is able to charm and sway people. He did it with the Soup Nazi.

In the Seinfeld behind the scenes it’s explained that the real Kramer lives of a sizable inheritance and only does schemes and odd jobs because he’s bored and has the means to do so. It’s never explained in the show why Kramer has so much free time and money for what I think is comedic purposes but that would be my best guess.
