I remember back in 2011-2012 there were huge invader zim fan communities on places like flipnote hatena, I’ve been kinda missing spaces like that now that I’ve gone back and revisited the show again and checked out the comics.
Is there still a fandom for this show? Or do I just need to accept that the world is changed now?

I am watching it for the first time. 1st two episodes were really good, I felt the rest of season one was very mediocre.

Jhonen Vasquez used to be extremely cynical and hate-filled toward society and those emotions are reflected in his art.
You'll see he chills tf out by the time Enter the Florpus premiered. The characters become literally less edgy and his cynicism is not as present.

The goth emo fad that invader zim fanbase was part off died out in the mid 2010s due to them growing up and the places or websites they used to hang out hot topic tumblr and deviantart declining during this time and the movie came out 7 years to late and wasn't special enough to gather a new fanbase
Deviantart only died out recently due to the buyout and scalping of the website, and the surge of AI art flooding gallery websites. Not only are old Internet communities being culled and replaced by shittier alternatives, but subcultures are being erased from existence through social engineering with social media.

Unironically, the more rabbid ones moved on to stuff like Helluva Boss/Hazbin Hotel and The Owl House. The calmer ones felt satisfied when the Netflix movie dropped.
IDK bro. I feel like the fandom just sort of moved on peacefully after Enter The Florpus. The movie was a great last hurrah for IZ fans after 17 years of nothing. One last final fight between Zim and Dib, Dib's dad telling Dib that he has always been proud of him, and the Tallest essentially being sent too hell because of the Florpus. That's enough closure for any Zim fan. ESPECIALLY SINCE not once did the Zim movie go the Rocko route of trying to pander to lgbt for brownie points. Nothing controversial, however, meant discussion dies fast now for IZ threads.

The movie was a really big finale.
Personally for me, it was all the fanart and fan projects. I think I miss those the most, there was an attempt at making a movie that I remember getting pretty far as having auditons for voices but nothing came out of it.
